Ms. Puff was very put out by your orange kitty. She was telling you about her irritation. Watch her tail vigorously swishing back and forth as she was watching him goof in the background. She didn't take her eye off him until he left the vicinity..then she began to pester Mrs. H😂,.cats are awesome. Great teaching video. Much love 💖
Mrs. Puff Puff is cracking me up, she likes being near you Mrs. H. Thank you for the informative content.
Thanks for watching!
"Ms. Puff is back. Let me go ahead and, *ouch!"* I swear that cat loves you more than catnip and kitty snacks combine. ☺️
She stays claiming you as hers and only hers. 🐈⬛💕
I love the information you and your hubby share with us. You make me miss my Tennessee great grandmom, her sons and my grandmom so much. You have the same knowledge they possessed. 🙏🏽🌱☀️
Mrs Puff is so stinking cute. She loves you so much! ❤ Catching up.on all your gardening videos so I can better prepare myself. We got a LATE start starting seeds....starting to Panic!!! LoL. In West Virginia.
I love Mrs. Puff, she looks like a very needy cat.🤗☺️
I love the cat in the background. Thank you for helping us to learn a better way to self-help gardening.
That cat is determined. She's a pretty thing.
Michigander here! We've had a mild winter...57' today. A false spring with more winter to come, I'm sure! Starting cold weather plants inside for now. Everybody has the itch to start digging in the dirt! Love your channel!
Fellow Michigander here. I watched Ryan Hall Y’all and he’s forecasting we should be getting a long awaited visit from winter in March. I’ve definitely enjoyed the mild weather, but, I know we need these freezes.
@@whitestone4401 yes we do! 😊
Mi gardner here as well, this weather is crazy 🤪 started perennials and some herbs indoors
Yes!! It is now time to start our precious seedlings. But watch out for that possible freeze or frost that can come out of no where. Have fun. God bless ♥️🇺🇲
Everybody wants some love from Mrs H, even the kitties ❤
I change my chickens feed and they started laying again, I was buying feed from tractor supply, no more.
We buy 18% protein chicken feed from Tractor supply and our hens have played all winter long. No problems with geed here in Kentucky! Dunmore by Purina, and I ferment it too. You probably don't have heavy brown egg layers? White egg layer hens don't do well in winter. Been there, done that long ago. Only heavy breeds for us
That was layed and feed, not played and geed on my post up there lol
Did the same thing and mine are laying again. I have all heavy brown egg layers. Everyone I know has brown layers and all have had a problem on that feed. We are buying from the small town feed store with a much better quality of feed now. Check the ingredients people then look for better. Or add more to protein etc.
Health Ranger Mike Adams tested the store brand because of this problem and found very high levels of glyphosate in that feed.
I started my seeds over the last weekend and my lettuce is already up. 😊
Soil temperature is very important for seed germination. I have learned the hard way.
Yes, true
I'm so glad you mentioned that corn I get so sick of hearing ppl say you can't transplant corn bc honey that's the ONLY way I've been able to get corn here in SE Louisiana lol works like a charm!! GOD bless yall!
Thank you for this video!!! LOVE YOU Homestead Heart!!! This is my first time trying a garden, my seedlings seems to be struggling!!! May TMH Bless you abundantly and continually!
Yes, ants love the corn! Thanks for all your info. I love watching all the cats and animals during your videos . :)
HOMESTEAD HEART IVE BEEN WATHIN...NEVER MISS A SHOW
Hey David Corey
I always get antsy when I see you all starting your starts. We are in 5a and I have to struggle to wait. Working on my timing this year. I'm either too early or too late.🤪 I'm working on my patience this year. Always appreciate you my Soil Sis...
I feel you, same zone
Amen to that! I'm zone 6 in Kentucky. I want to dig in the dirt already too! Mr and Mrs H have taught us a lot of things. I didn't know you could do a 2nd harvest so I tried butternut squash last August. The weather got too cold for it to fully survive. So after everything else is done, I'll try again in July this year God willing! I broke my back on December 28th and had surgery so it's going to be harder on me to bend and do things, but we have to eat! God bless everyone! The news is horrible and now our water supplies will be contaminated. May the Lord protect and provide for us. 😇🙏❤
@@CherokeeWarriorWoman I think we ALL get the itch right about now. Glad your back is on the mend...what a blessing it will be for you to get back to digging Sis. I keep reminding myself they are in warmer zones and can rock like that. Stay blessed..
Zone 4/5 here. Sighs. It's snowing again....
@@MissBetsyLu feeling your pain. Been snowing for 2 days straight and about 2 ft of snow on the ground. Hang tight. We almost in spring..😊
Planting the tomatoes initially with the solo cup or small pot only 3/4 of the way full, genius! This is my favorite time, getting the seedlings going. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have learned so much from you, I can't thank you enough! I live in GA as well and the ants were just awful last year. They got to my watermelon and I wanted to cry all that hard work gone to feed ants! I'm going to do like you and start my watermelons in containers. Let them grow a bit, get stronger. I also learned once melons start coming on, get those babies up off the ground! Put mine on top of mounds that were well mulched with pine straw. Then all around each mound and all around my melon I liberally sprinkled diatomaceous earth. That saved a few of my melons from the ants!
I live in Ga as well, and yes these ants are get on my last nerve. I was watching Hollar Homestead and he mention putting grits down. The ants eat the grits and it swell in the stomach and they die. As much as I like grits I i go ope this works.
@@spenc62 Thank you so much for this idea! I love grits too, but can spare some for those little turds!
Hey, Mrs H, this video is so timely for me. I haven't been around much but over the next few days I'll be catching up. Right now I'm working on getting my homemade fertilizer out to my new garden area. Tomorrow I won't be outside at all. Yet another snowstorm and ice storm tomorrow and Thursday. I'm chomping at the bit to start my seeds in the house. But it's too early here in Wisconsin but it's getting closer! 🤗
I just stumbled on your site. I Love You
Lady, you are so right about checking your indoor plants every day. This afternoon my sage had come up and I was so happy. While you were talking, I remembered I needed to move the moringa I had just planted. When I looked, the dill was coming up!! I've got my kitchen sprouts, onions and red potatoes in the garden. I don't know if the onions will do anything, but it is better than throwing them out. Back when I was little Mama would get the small milk cartons from school and my parents would plant everything in them like your Dixie cups. Our local feed store has an ant dust that stinks to high heaven, but it works! I can't remember the name, but the smell is unmistakable. I'm gonna enjoy planting along with you this year. God bless.
That kitty loves you 💗
"Canning Squad"! 😂🤣 I wish I lived just down the road from you. I'd love to visit with you, if I did...God bless you & your loved ones...🇺🇸 😎👍☕
I am almost done with my greenhouse(3 panel version same as yours), and I love it! I live in CT zone 7a. Germination of anything this time of year is difficult, even inside my house(55-60f) I think my next project might be a climate controlled germination 'box'...For seeds instead of eggs. Most of the volunteers in my garden dont start sprouting until June, for reference. Thankyou for sharing all your experiences.. Its always fun to see what your up to :)
Hey Sweet lady your farming knowledge is impeccable 😇
I watched and subbed during your chicken coop build, please do a video on how your chickens are doing. I live in northern Wisconsin and starting crops can be difficult as I've seen snow in May. My best fertilizer is using weeds I pull, stuff them in a five-gallon bucket, and fill them with water. Two weeks later mix with water and when you water your garden. Do not use tomato plants leaves and waiting a month is always better.
The stench is terrible, but it's great that we have a use for dreaded weeds! Just watch for seed heads on them, cut them off!!
@@sharonparker2262 Well being from an agricultural background its perfect as if it went through a cow she would use up all the nutrients. Don't get that on your clothes or shoes. You can use grass clippings too.
@frankieboy2417 I have a mulching mower, but I do take grass clippings from my across street neighbor! They don't use any pesticides as it's a rental! I help her by raking and removing buildup! I do have a friend with chickens, so I give her extra leafy vegs and cherry tomatoes for her crew! Got to get a pile going of coop cleaning, plus I get free eggs!
Ms. Puff is crazy. I am 27 and I have a lot of work to do I want to plant but I need to learn a little more, thank you for your videos!!
Thank you so much for sharing! This is great! I love you and each video!
Ms. Buff be tripping. She reminds me of my Samson. Head strong on doing whatever when I’m doing stuff, got to be in everything. Got to love the pets
Great information..truly gardening can either go good or very bad.
Hello all! My Purina feed wasn't working. I went to a Feed Mill and got their Chicken Feed. My Chickens are laying again and bigger eggs. Lv amd Prayers to All.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips.
Blessings.
I'm starting most of my seeds indoors today. I'll upload a video later. Thanks for sharing this info 😊 have a great day and happy gardening 🌿🌱🍅🥔🥬😊🤗
Thank you for sharing all your experience & wisdom! We direct-sowed corn last year and only 4 stalks came up. The soil was too hot I’m sure. 😬 (spring was good cold, summer heat jumped in too soon) I’ll start those babies in the greenhouse in trays as you’ve suggested and get them out on time this year.
Thank you ma'am. That is some very good information I needed cuz all I'm getting is stringing me stringing me stringing tomatoes
Growing yamata cream too
Ms. Puff was trying to help.🐈⬛💕⭐
Good morning Mrs H it's good to see you 😄
I live in zone 8 as well, I always just throw my leftover tomato scraps, pepper and squash scraps in my compost pile throughout the winter and just leave them. By the time spring rolls around I have enough to transplant into the earth garden. It saves me time and money. It just works for me. God bless you all and keep on gardening how it works!!!!👍👍🙏🙏❤️❤️
That will be great when have good verities.
It’s freezing 🥶 cold and snowing where I live 😂 I love your channel and advice!
Yes ma'am Mrs. Heart it took my peppers s while to come up I direct sowed them but they are all up now and looking great! Oh and my tomatoes plants are up and looking great also. Thanks for sharing and God bless 🙏❣️
Your information is so useful even though I live in the Pacific Northwest. As a displaced southern girl you made my mouth water and my heart get a little jealous at the mention of okra. Sure wish I could grow it up here.
I was just blown away that I, being in the PNW, am in zone, 8, same as Georgia! I'm trying okra this year so fingers crossed we have success!
Ms. Puff is doing her own thing and doing her own video...😊💜😻
This is great information! Thank you! Your very knowledgeable in the things I’m interested in. Thank you again for great information 🥰
You are so welcome!
😳😳😲..great information hope all works out for you all🙏🏽
I received my seeds I bought. Thank you so much. I'm also very happy you are doing this video. GOD Bless 🙏
I have never had good luck with onions. Last year I had a great crop. Same with garlic.
Good afternoon Mrs. H..
Hello there!
So good to have you teaching and encouraging us. I'm trying to figure out how to make a miniature greenhouse in my teeny backyard! I use solo cups when my plants grow too big in the trays, but it's not time to put outside. Seed starting gives me a break from canning! Have a blessed day all.
Thank you Mrs. H. I love your videos.
Hi here in Arizona the weather is been very cold and lots of rain too I have my seeds in side under growing lights
I'm in zone 8B in Louisiana
Thanks so much for the 🍅 tips. I'm turning the grow lights on them right now! I had them in the dark on a heat mat for a week. Saw my 1st peppers n tomatoes emerge today. I'm turning those 🕯️🕯️ on ASAP. Thanks 👍😊🤠
I’m happy for you all.
QUESTION! Can you give and update on if you still use your cattle panel greenhouse, pros and cons and what you think you could have done different? I am building a pvc greenhouse in the backyard (Live in rental until we find our homestead). What tips can you give?
Your cat reminds me of mine! Full of antics while I'm trying to work!!! Am I hearing Sandhill Cranes flying overhead in the background? I LOVE when they fly over my farm here in middle TN!!
Thank you for the Zone info on seeds!
My last frost is mid May but just started cabbage, cauliflower 2/11 sprouting 2/14, last years broccoli and peas started 2/11 sprouting 2/15 all under humidity dome on heat mats. Off the heat mats now, humidity domes gone. Basement is 64*. They’ll go in garden at the end of March first week of April under 1oz row cover.
I love absorbing your wisdom
Thanks for the information. I didn't know you could start corn in trays, I might try that. Idk even know if i have room for corn. I love your cat, she's so funny. She loves you lol. I hope the cat you were talking about didn't fall in the water 🙀.
I started corn in small grow bags, got a small auger for a hand drill, drill a hole plop the bag in the ground. Worked great.
Mrs. H, thank you for this valuable information.
Hey. Enjoy y’all so much
hi ms heart 🤗
im in zone 10 in southern california and direct sow most of my seeds. however, ive always started at least some things.
i found a bunch of starter trays and cups i bought a while back and will use them for my next set of seeds. tfs
That cat wanted to be the star of the show!
Your information is great. This is my first time starting seeds. It makes so much sense about the tomatoes. Thank you so very much for your knowledge. I learned so much.
Thank you for this wonderful information
Good to see you , thank you for the good teaching 😊.
Thanks so much for my seeds I only seed started the oregano so far. It sprouted well. I have never planted ground cherries. I'll need to investigate on those. I hope my kids will like them. Excited to try the luffa too.
Omg. This has helped me so much. I’m on it.
Hoss Tool has great seed starting kits. I use them an love them. There very strong
Thanks so much for your videos. I really enjoy them. Can you get a timer for your lights?
Sure thing!
Sweet GA, I love south GA!
Watched your Pickled Egg video and loved it! Thank you for your Wonderful Videos! 🌺
You are so welcome!
I have a terrible time with fire ants! I put laundry soap on the mounds and let it soak in. I’m in SW Georgia and just gave up on growing anything. You have given me hope❤️❤️thanks!
Add diametious earth. Ants will flee! And its organic..
@@jeandudley7841 thank you!
I appreciate you so much
Thank you for the video! If the little kitten fell in the water, probably Miss Puff pushed her in! That cat is so onery!
Thank you for your video. It was very informational. I was wondering whether I should start my lights Once I planted my seeds indoors thank you that was very informative
You are right about those Burpee trays, mine are breaking also and I just got them last year.
I like how you explained that thank you for sharing
Ground to cold, and it to early for planting right now. Okra needs warm ground to, okra’s in North Carolina need to be played first of June
I'm next door in Alabama and I'm starting my seeds tomorrow. Knee surgery Friday so I figure by the time I'm healed the seedlings will be just about ready to be hardened off.
Great idea & thank you for sharing.
Thanks
Thanks for sharing 👍🏿
I started my vine tomatoes in a bucket 🪣 my husband put many holes, I'm hoping to string them along our fence and hang the bucket up cause we got gophers.
Thank you for this video
Hey❤️❤️
Good vlog. Thanks
The kitties love you Ms. H. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom on farming. I'm in Georgia too so this really helps me.
❤
My goodness, I’m not sure how I got lost, but I haven’t seen a video from y’all in a while! I had to come searching for you! I know you’re also in zone 8, so I wondered what you were up to!
My Burpee seed trays are fine. I’m on my second year with them no problem
I've been doing that for years, start early. Did just learn about nightshade plants. Going back to the frozen eggs, you do have a generator in the event of prolonged power outages? I'm leary about doing that. The winter of 2010 was great as we just stuck it in the snow. Meats and foods were kept in the garage away from animals.
I live in Middle GA and my Okra did NOT grow well last year.
Question - Beside the Solo Cup for seeding in. Could you use a styform cup 🥤? Also Love your video they sure do help 👍🏻 Thank you Mrs H
Yes you can!
Awesome Thank you Mr H I'm very glad to hear that my Grandkids was asking the Question and I didn't know if we could 😀 we be seeding in them then 👍🏻 Have a Bless Day and Totally you both are a Blessing to us all love your help for getting us grow our own food ❤️
Ants get to my cats food bowls when they’re outside. I filled a second bigger dish with soil and put abt 2-4 mm of black pepper on the top and set the bowl in the center. Ants don’t like black pepper so maybe u can surround the bases of the corn with black pepper. I don’t know how efficient that would be with rain…
Have you ever used egg cartons to start seedlings?
That is one big cat!
I found the seedless watermelon so I’ll try that
