Just how many cool watches are out there? Thank you for showing us this beauty ! It is even cooler because the ISO certification does not concern only water resistance. I was glad when I researched it to find out that it also comprises shock resistance and other interesting features that you pointed out. And that certify that the watch is tough. Which is always a good factor! Thank you for this review!
Helm have quietly released an updated Miyako as of August 1st 2024. 1/ The case has been modified and now has chamfers between the lugs to allow thicker straps. 2/ The bracelet now has polished accents to the centre links so it fits in better with the overall look of the watch. 3/ Most importantly, they have introduced a no date version using a 9039 movement. I guess I'm one of the first to get one of these and I'm really happy with it. I was on the fence with the design but in hand it's my favourite of the three Helms I own.
Was lucky enough to get one of these shortly after release. I really enjoyed it until someone pointed out that the paint on the hands/indices was different shades & that kinda killed it for me. Helm do make awesome watches & are highly sort after for a reason.
Thank you. It’s a song to honor my drives to go hunting with my dad. It was always played at the beginning of a particular radio show. Thanks for watching!
Ive had the blue one for 1.5 years. Ive had a love/hate relationship with it, considered selling it, even made the post for it until I put it on leather lol. I love the weight of it and the date implementation, and its design fulfills my desire for a flieger or pilot watch. Very happy with it.
Agreed with the reasons for keeping it although I think the date complication ineffective. The leather strap does something special to this watch. Have a great week.
You too! I just wanted to say I really appreciate your Signum review. It has become a daily and my favorite travel watch. I use the 24 hour hand to time road trips@@Realidealgear
It would have been nice to see them take advantage of the Miyota movement to slim down the design a bit. It’s one of the things I love about my Citizen Challenge Diver. And that date window is definitely a non starter. It’s a nice looking watch but not for me. I say keep the blue!
Thanks for the feedback. Yours and my son’s comment (he did his by text) were to keep the blue. I like the idea of the movement slimming things down. Take care and have a merry Christmas to you and family!
I am not familiar with this Helm! Wow 15+mm is rather thick... I'd keep the blue! Its a very unique blue. The leather strap looks great on it! The bezel seems like it could be slightly slippery when wet. That rounded look doesn't look like you can get a great deal of purchase on it . Perhaps the tallness of it is because of the rehaut/chapter ring and the sandwich dial both being rather thick. I like that the lugs are drilled and I think that might make it lean more toward a tool piece rather than a dressier one. That being said you could absolutely wear this to a formal occasion. Like the Two Sun knife as well! Seems awesome! Oh I see what you mean with the date. That is a bit small. I like that its color coded it it should be a bit larger. Maybe they could drop the five o clock marker and enlarge it or drop it entirely for a cleaner look. Interesting. I did not know what the ISO rating entails but it makes sense. I like those heavy duty spring bars. They scream confidence in tough situations. The watch @11:45 with the snowflake hands seems very cool. I would much rather have that bezel style on this watch for grip as well! In spite of the date window to get such a high score means this is one heck of a watch! Have a fantastic Friday Tim!
I genuinely like the watch. It’s uniques. The dial and not getting a two piece strap were the only notable detractors. I think the watch you noted at 11:45 is in the que for early January. It’s a real beauty! Take care brother!
@@Realidealgear I like it. I think the cons you mentioned are things I can live with so all in all a great watch. Yeah it seems to be. Caught my eye immediately when I saw it! Take care Tim! Have a great weekend Brother and enjoy your Advent! Im on the list for all Helm watches. I agree abt the date window.. I think i would choose the blue although the color combination is better on the black but i love blue dials but black goes with everything but i bet that blue sapphire insert really shines in the sun but the... 😂
They are excellent watches. I think they are still worth the wait, but they become less so every year as more brands put out excellent watches. As for the date, I’m a weird Date Only guy so I prefer to squint than not having the date. Ha!
I agree, It’s definitely worth the wait. I prefer date complications as well which is why I so disappointed. I think the photos I saw distorted my perception of a larger date window than it is in hand. Have a merry Christmas! Take care.
Any real issue with fitting various straps on this (leather, rubber, etc.)? Some reviews imply it's almost impossible because of the tight tolerances between case and spring bar.
Absolutely. Any nylon pass-through strap has to be a thin nato. A thin Horween leather NATO style might work. Leather provides some flex that may help pass through or the flex may not be stiff enough to squeeze between the spring bar and case if that makes sense. THIN is required. I won't wear a double pass NATO style strap on this watch because it's already over 13.5mm. Adding a double pass NATO makes this piece too top heavy and with polished case...added height creates a greater risk for unnecessarily bumping/scratching the case. Two piece strap is the way to go. Helm provides a bracelet and NATO style strap with each Miyako. I'm in funk with bracelets right now....they provide a solid bracelet. I really like the leather strap on the black dial version because the old radium lume markers are pulled out with the leather.
The spring bars are very close to the case wall. I've had to use skinny fat bars on NATO straps and even then 1.2mm is about the limit. Phenome straps are good to go. My own Miyako is on a Quantum strap at present. I've been considering a Tropic strap, but it will probably end up on the bracelet at some point.
Helm make incredible value watches 👍 14 mm is perfectly normal for an auto tool watch. I agree about the date window. Date indicators are stupid and annoying on auto watches ! Please finish the silly music before talking.

I like the updates you’ve mentioned. Sounds like an even better setup.
Very nice, never heard of this brand. You can see the Blancpain and Seamaster 300 design influences. The date wheel doesn’t bother me
I can see what you're saying and thank you for the comments. Have a merry Christmas!
Agree it looks better on leather than a nato. date window sucks just put a mini sticker or tint it out. I guess it’s just for style.
Agreed. Thank you for watching. Have a great weekend and Merry Christmas.

It’s a great watch. I’m enjoying it a lot.
They did a great job with the dial patterns and textures. Also love the shape of the hands on this.
It’s a great design.
FYI
I’ll be keeping the blue dial and The black dial will be put up for sale at realidealgear.com
Been meaning to tell you I like the intro music. Makes me smile every time. Now back to your regularly scheduled program...

The height off the wrist is certainly manageable without the double pass NATO. With a double pass, it’s unusually tall. Take care!
