- A life of ease and relaxation is the ideal our culture promotes. But does God’s Word support such an attitude? Looking to the wisdom of Proverbs, Alistair Begg identifies the sinful characteristics and behaviors of a lazy person. The fall into indolence may cause us to stray from God’s plan for our work, relationships, and communion with Him. By steadfastly nurturing all areas of life, however, we will grow closer to becoming the followers God intends for us to be.

It is indeed so easy to be lazy. Not so much in work, as I “ work as if for The Lord. Easier to be so at home. Mostly when I’m sad. This has me asking God to assist me in becoming more diligent in my Bible study. God lives me more than any person ever will, how do I not spend more time in His Word. Thank you Alistair Begg for your wisdom & insight. God has given me the awareness of your ministry,& has used it to make serious changes in my life. Truth for Life has received my membership,& I’m very thankful
I was wondering how inactivity relates to mental illness - anxiety, depression, etc. I don't think Begg was addressing those struggling with mental illness at all in regards to laziness. I don't know what level of activity is appropriate for those who suffer in such a manner.

Wonderful and much needed message. One thing i would've hoped for was a definition of 'work' in this. I see a culture where people are full of activity and business but the activity is all around hobbies and entertainment vs doing what needs doing. Thank you for your message.

Thank you, laziness has been on my mind, the way you have elaborated it is an easy way to understand that laziness has sipped in to every aspect of life and especially mine. 😢.

Awesome, 26 days after I was born.
It would be a lot easier to do things if I wasn't SO EXHAUSTED and crippled up and in pain!!!!!. But apparently it's God's good pleasure to keep me like this, despite my pleas and prayers....

I'm sorry to say this was how I spent my entire twenties.
Do NOT lift your eyes in hell. You MUST be born again, born from outside yourself, born from above. You won't bring laziness to an end in your life by yourself.
Fasting is the way to get rid of all these sins in a root.
