  • While Jesus often warned about the hypocrisy of others, He also gave His disciples a difficult command: “watch yourselves.” Drawing on Jesus’ teaching in Luke 17, Alistair Begg leads us through a series of questions every believer can use to examine his or her own walk before God. If we watch ourselves, we may by God’s divine enabling also be able to help others.
    Text: Luke 17:1
    Preached: August 5, 2001

    I am glad the pastor is preaching this principle of Rebuking another because this only shows that I was correct on what I was telling my parents, half brother and sister. Thanks be to God for this pastor for he is speaking God's word and his truth.

    Yes, our creator GOD says to forgive 7 times 70 but what if the person does the same thing over and over again knowing what she is doing? 🤔 Because I told my mother that she keeps doing evil against me every time and its the same thing over and over again. I tell her that I forgive her but I want her to stop what she is doing against me. She responded..."I am flesh and the flesh will do what it wants." "Because I am not perfect." I tell her that it is Not about being perfect but of asking our creator GOD to help us change what it is not good for us. She would become angry 😠with me and would walk away from me and she would ignore me. I ask our creator God to take all my sadness, bitterness, anger, anger out my heart in Jesus name. Amen!

    Absolutely love this. The part about forgiveness is the best description I have heard. However, I would like to point out that people who are conscious of the value God puts in our “free choice” do often used the phrase “thankyou for allowing Gods to work in your life” or “….to do His will in your life”. He of course can force us but doesn’t. He waits for submission, a contrite heart. Many many humans refuse to do what they clearly see is His will.

    Stay in the 'Light'.... Stay away from the dark.... Walk away, no matter what the cost, walk away.. Forgive me Lord God for doing this unintentionally and also intentionally. I was wrong and Your' Word' is right

    This is True, don't associate with people who promote you to sin, stay away.... Do not allow yourself to make others to sin against the Lord God.... Stay way, don't promote others to sin against others and the Lord God.... Watch your steps, there is going to be accountability...

    I tried rebuking my sister for yelling, screaming and hitting me on the chest. Then I told my parents what she had done to me and my mother's response was..."What do you want me to do , she has cancer and you don't." Then we all had a family meeting to discuss this issue that I had with her. Because she would not repent, she only became very prideful just because my parents and half brother were on her side. My half brother preaches to others on Facebook even though he is not a pastor. When I spoke with my parents and half brother in front of sister, about her abusive behavior. My half brother said..."First of all I would like to know who made you her Judge?" "Did God appointed you to rebuke our sister for doing whatever it is that she supposedly did to you?" When he said this is responded with...the Lord God says that if another has transgressed against us, that I can rebuke and admonish etc. He just kept ignoring me.
    Then I told my mother that I would go to their church to ask their pastor what he thinks of what my parents are allowing my sister to get away with? Then my mother's responded was..."I don't think that our pastor will care to listen to you and your complaints." " Because first of all you do not attend our church and second because we are older than you." Then I spoke with my half brother again about this matter of our sister yelling, screaming and hitting me on the chest. And he again said..."You should forgive her".
    My brother preaches to others about love ,patience, and being kind to one another in love but whenever I used to send him a text. He would become very angry because he didn't like what I had to say no matter what the subject was. He would start yelling and screaming at me and he has done this to me for many years. This is something that my father also used to do to me. They are Pentacostal and they have been following the Lord God Almighty our creator for many years. I don't understand why they ignore these principles that the Lord Jesus used to preach when he was here on earth? I am having such a hard time understanding them. Because I am trying to follow what the Lord Jesus used to preach. I am trying so hard to forgive them for the transgressions they had done against me. Because I think that they are all blind. They have left me very sad inside my soul.

    How do we forgive when the other party doesn’t ask for forgiveness…or they are no longer living?

    • @rlyle5804
      @rlyle5804 2 года назад

      God requires us to forgive even those that are unrepentant. This is an issue between us and God. If we want to be forgiven, we must forgive. Whether or not the person that sinned against us has asked for forgiveness or not is an issue between them and God. Jesus said "Forgive them Father as they know not what they to" Think about what they did to Jesus. They didnt ask for forgiveness, but Jesus forgave them.

      It took me over 40years to forgive some people and it was eating away at my soul. I allowed the root of bitterness to grow in me and I can tell you that those roots are strong! I have no idea if some of the people are still alive or not but the intention to forgive is no different. The resentment and anger that bubbled up in me and haunted me every day is all gone now. The damaging effects are no more, in fact if I saw the people in heaven, I’d be overjoyed. The enslaving destructive feelings of it have been replaced with peace.

      I have unfortunately caused friends and family to sin by my actions and lifestyle. It is because I do not realise the seriousness of God's judgement and his wrath.
