@@andrewsiemon I can say you're wrong... try that, instead of that small orange thing. I plugged my Death metal into a SansAmp (clean setting), straight into a PA, it was really worthy. Also, try to avoid mentioning "death metal" and "Mayhem" in the same sentence, think "Obituary" instead (even if it's not your thing).
The Death Metal pedal really is more of a black metal pedal. I have the grunge one. I also have what have to be the cheapest pedals on the planet by Danelectro.

I doubt that either of these pedals will sound good in the FX Loop, but it's worth a shot. Maybe you're right.
