    One of the best videos I've seen. No irritating background music, or annoying narrating. You let the video speak for itself. I loved looking up some some of the Registration number on some of these 747's. One is almost 48 years old.

  • @bret9741

    I want tot cry, I’m a retired airline pilot, retire early for medical reasons. It makes me terribly sad to see the Delta (once Northwest 747’s) and the 757’s being scrapped. I recognized the tail number on several of the 757’s.... :(. Billions and billions of $$$$ and billions of safely carried passengers in these relatively young aircraft.

    • @VMCAviationVideos

      I agree, it is a sad sight. What did you fly when working for the airlines?

    • @jerryl.1033
      @jerryl.1033 8 месяцев назад

      I agree, but as we both know there are only so many cycles before the metal gets stressed and the aircraft is no longer safe to fly. I both helped build and/or modify many Boeing aircraft and it hurts to see them sitting in a boneyard.

    Thanks you for posting this sad, magnificent, respectful and historic video.
    All these aircraft have stories to tell ; the places that they flew, the passengers they carried, the aircrews and engineers that flew and maintained them.
    They have been part of peoples lives and as such, absorb a little bit of the spirit of everyone involved with them, just like ships and locomotives.
    Sad to see but the parts from these airframes will keep their brethren flying for a while longer.
    So much history in one place.
    My particular favourite aircraft is the B757, so it was very poignant to see the ex-Delta examples here.

    Wonderful & sentimental to see tho old all-white livery Douglas amphibs that use to land in Miami Harbour (Florida) and take passengers back and forth between there and the Bahamas in the 1980s (when I saw them land and take off like oversize swans) and early 1990s. Wow. Thank you.

In 1979 The Tucson Radio Control Club held a "Winter Nationals" for model airplanes. I participated in the RC Precision Aerobatic event and took some 8 mm silent film shoots then. I have that film on RUclips at with the search title: "1979 Tucson Winter NATS & Pima Air Museum" if you are interested. The last time I was here was in the 1990s and entry was restricted.

      This plane was barely 11 years old when it was retired in 2015 and had only been in commercial service for about half of that time, mainly for JetBlue as N289JB "Blue Complete Me". Must have been a story here as to why. Anyway, as of the video, parting out was well under way...she's long gone now.

    • @RoadCone411
      @RoadCone411 4 года назад

      abum91 I don’t know why in this specific case but it could have been for a number of reasons. For example, perhaps it had some damage that needed repairing before the next major overhaul or, more likely, it was just simply worth more to part out than to keep it whole. There is not much of a market for E190s at the moment. While it does seem like a waste, perhaps the owners decided to get money from parts and spares rather than try and find a new lessee.

The bodies, cut in sections and turned up right houses for homeless people. No recycling here. There is much more profit in the airline industry than we ever dreamed! Thanks for sharing this! I know this will sound corny, but I've always wished I could work at a place like this, maybe as security or something. My father was a former pilot and one of my siblings was a flight attendant while another worked as a ground crew in cargo, so we are sort of an aviation family. I'm not in aviation but am a teacher. Nonetheless, I feel old planes like these are so majestic, even in their most skeletal moments and they should still be treated with some respect. If I had the funding wherewithal, I'd put everyone one of these into a big museum, or convert many of the clustered area of more intact planes into private homes for alternative living.
    Are these facilities open to the public to drive through? Or must one be employed there? This is such great footage. Echoing those below, there's no need for music or narration. These big birds have their own stories and perhaps we can sense and imagine them during their epic days of flight.

    At 15:32, that 747 is a 747-8F, RC537, and I have many hours of flight testing on her. She was the Seahawks 747 that flew around the Seattle area in 2014. The plane is now flying for Qatar Airways as a freighter.
