every time I try to start Neverwinter again, I only see what the game has lost. Player made adventure modules. A serviceable pvp. Etc. Etc. It is fun. It's just soured it for me.
Bingo. The game as it is today is horrid. They have homogenized and dumbed down the entire game and now it’s just a big mess of crap which means as like most MMOs now you’re likely to never ever play with another person.
Neverwinter is the best DnD MMO out there because it's in Forgotten Realm. I played a Rogue and it's the best Rogue/Assassin class combat compare to other MMO games. The gear designs are very good with a lot of details. At max level, there's so much things to do and you do it your way. The gameplay is smooth especially if you have a high end computer. I played this waay back when the max level was 70 (or was it 80?). I love the collection panel since it allows you to target farm gears/artifacts you want. I can't get back to it now since I don't remember the crafting mechanics anymore. I was farming these daggers and I've upgraded them to purple but I can't remember how to get it to orange. Anyway, it's a fun game and you can a lot of things solo.
thats why it is dead and has been for a while , it has very little players left, also its bleeding players very slowly. all the dumb changes and redoing everything over and over has made most of their player base leave and they never came back, right now the game has 500-1k players on daily thats it.
@OmniDan26 no im not wrong I went to all zones counted the players on the servers. It has no where close to 6k or 5k , the most i have counted was 1200 something, very low player bass
Once you hit level 20 the game opens up. Then your item level comes into play with opening campaigns. Then you will need to find a guild for boons. Join other players to compete ques and dungeons. Fun to play I'm a 6 year player.
Ofc u have to buy a tons of mount and pets to be aomewhat good and it can take like a year or 2 especially if u dont have a lot of time, the game ain't wort the pain cuz the game doesnt do nothing to keep u enjoy it, the campaign are boring, repetitive and too long, yes u can buy the coin that compleate the campaign but then what u have to do if not grinding ur ass of for nothing?
@@kittywampusdrums4963 it is well and truly worse than what it used to be, gameplay was fast, fun and enjoyable no matter the content u did. now its slow, not as fun and lack of diversity in gear to use thats actually viable.
suuuure.. ''fun to play in 2024''... thats the thing people who havenot played it for 11+ years say cuz they dont know the amount of trash an d garbage and lies the developers putted into our general direction.
And.. how does it change that the game is fun to play? I started in the end of 2022, already have 1k+ hours and had a lot of fun Honestly i really doubt if the game would be much better if they would religiously do whatever salty fans say. Ive seen so many comments of people not liking literally every darn change in the game, or making up reasons to hate it. Just chill the f out, in just the game. You literally look like a kid who angry that parents didnt buy him a candy, after you already eat a bag of them
Jesus Christ you're definitely a fanboy lol. Literally running through every comment try hard to defend the game, it's got like 1k players stfu bro shts dead lol@@nerdError0XF
I played it last year and still had fun without paying a dime so *shrug*

It feels very linear because it's a tutorial from lvl 1 to lvl 20, you can get to max lvl within a day, but the real level is the item level, it can months even years to max out.
And its pretty playable, even on less populated server. People saying the game is dead definetly have no idea about current state of the game Yes, its far from popular MMOs, its is a niche game. But it was always like this, eve in its best times, so its i dont understand what people are surprised about
This is review is amazing. You make the game sound like it's the best mmo out there. Kinda makes you wonder why it's not more popular. Might it have something to do with the monetization/cash shop? Never trust a review that glosses over the cash shop. I do agree that the game play is fun but once you understand that you will need to have more characters to progress in the game to get the currency, it really sucks all the fun out of the game. I'll say it once more, don't trust a review from someone who really glosses over the main reason a game isn't popular.
And what do you know about the monetization in the game exactly? The first time i even considered donating was after 500+ hours in the game. And even since then, i only just buy VIP and thats pretty enough. Now i have around 1000+ hours in the game and still enjoy it, and yes i have only one character. So im really not surprised about the author not mentioning monetization because its far from required in the game. If you only care about that maybe its something wrong with you, not the author?
@@nerdError0XF The game still uses Loot Boxes to get people to gamble, the cash shop offers players the ability to pay $50 to skip an entire campaign and get all the rewards they offer instantly, the entire Astral Diamond market is an over-inflated mess that encourages you to spend real money to get the diamonds you need so you can get whatever you want from the auction house, playable races locked behind a paywall being just flat out better in some cases than the freely available races, etc. You don't 'have' to use any of that and still play the game without serious issues. Those purchases are there to tempt the impatient and those who have more cents than sense. The predatory monetization doesn't magically go away or disappear because you enjoy the game.
@@nerdError0XF Lol rage baiting in all the comments huh? The games mtx is fucking atrocious and getting it at a rate of a f2p with a life is damning. To get your ilvl up to do the proper endgame content you gotta fully spec out in pets, gems, mounts with the stats your class needs and those AD costs add up. If you have a fantastic way of building the AD you need for that stuff in a timely matter, please feel free to prove me wrong right here.
It being D&D is exactly why you'd expect it to be more open world. In an actual D&D game, you have the freedom of choice a video game can never give you. It being a key feature, you'd expect the game to at least try to *feel* like it gives you a certain level of freedom. At least greater than most other MMOs, not lesser.
I used to really enjoy Neverwinter. My first class was the Control Wizard (Wood Elf because there were no high/moon/sun elves when I started). I used to love grabbing the skill nodes and checking out the different modules. Combat is very fast-paced, but the game was changed immensely a few years ago. I didn't play as much after that.
I much prefer dungeon and dragon online over never winter. D&D online nails the dungeon crawling experience and it just a blast with a group of friends.
Fighters DO have the power to use Shield Throw, an offensive move for the DPS Paragon Path. Even further development of the skill adds Ricochet for hitting multiple targets. The game runs smooth and is very responsive on low-end systems, so Combat actually feels satisfying! Character generation / appearance is pretty darn good, I've never seen anyone that looks like some other character. You can play virtual dress-up doll for hours, days, weeks, YEARS! But builds are encouraged to be clones of one another for all end-game content. There is only one combination of gear or items or skills that gives you dominance over the outcome. The Character Skill system is convoluted and handicapped for a good reason though. Player Skill has been scientifically extracted and sanitized from the game, ensuring everyone has just as much fun as anyone else, like holding hands when everyone crosses the finish line together. (They have yet to make PVP playable for new players for some strange reason though). Its a game for rich people that are bad at math and have a slight gambling addiction, but that lets me play for free, if I choose to. Its a "Freemium" style game, everything is 100% FREE unless you want some premium items immediately in your hands, or you can earn the same things by playing literally forever. You can even pay real money to NOT play a game that's free to play because you don't want to deal with completion deadlines for events or quests. The world of NW really has a lot to explore, and if you think you might have missed seeing some Content before it disappears, don't worry, it will be back soon enough with a make over. (reskinned). So so so much stuff that once was in the game is now obsolete and unobtainable, but new players wouldn't notice this and will jump on the pay-to-play bandwagon soon enough. They DO need more Easter Eggs, or surprising things to find, that aren't necessary for your quest line. Unfortunately there is only one way to play, follow the sparkly magic "rail road" track leading you to your next task to complete. The pointer path can be turned off, but the manner in which you progress is pretty much a single dimensional line you grind out, but you wouldn't notice that the first few times you play. Rewards are miniscule, like a Cracker Jack joke you have to sign in on a website to read, and will always be less than what you need to easily complete any content. Once you manage to complete the content then you can grovel at the feet of an NPC for loot you felt you earned, which will barely get you through the next wave of content coming out next. Then it will be obsolete and useless junk. The Barber Pole is supposed to keep spinning - ya know. They have slowly but ever so surely sanitized the gaming experience. You wont find bikini armor to wear, or any humor, or very much personality within the NPCs. They remove the touchy-feely stuff, mostly unnoticeable parts of the game, to appease their Puritan investors, always as a priority over fixing the plethora of broken game mechanics. Lore is there and somewhat accurate. The learning curve for both Play and Lore is pretty big, and once you think you understand how to play a class they'll "fix & rebalance" it breaking your builds every year or so, so things are Perpetually UN-balanced, so its best to have multiple characters. That can be a mixed blessing, it means you must grind for each character, but you can at least find out which one you like the most. Community is on life-support, mostly because it is difficult to squeeze any Dopamine out of the game, unless you are Masochistic and a glutton for grinding for garbage gear. Developers are generally living on another planet and clueless or couldn't care less about user expectations or why they attract fewer and fewer players, but honestly it is a formula they MUST follow. They have a railroad track to follow too, but you can tell some actually do enjoy the game and even get involved on discord. Its the only game I need, and IMHO the BEST MMOPRHRPG for something similar to D&D. It gives me hours, YEARS, of enjoyment plus plenty of things to complain about and cry over and console other players over, because NONE of us can ever leave after so much money & time invested in it. Try it out - I bet you'll love a lot of things about it, and remember, the in-game currency called Zen is a Gateway drug. This game theory model with "Gachapon Luckboxs" where you pay for something before you even know what it is, should be taken out, and shot & buried, but D&D will continue with or without it.
The Cryptic engine that neverwinter was built on has many limitations, and in previous years, the game had suffered from constant lag spikes, thankfully no longer. If Cryptic had thousands of players on an open world map rather than instances that generally hold a max of 25 players, the lag issues would probably have made the game unplayable. Moulding the gameplay around this limitation, I think they did well.
Neverwinter is decent now, but 6 years ago was the GOAT, you could solo dungeons, if you have a good party you could end endgame-dungeons in 8 minutes, itemlevel was a real thing ( a maxed out player could bet your damage in a dungeon x100%). It was more fun, buff and dubuffs to the Boss were +50% -40% even +100%, now they are so nerfed the best you can get are like 15% buffs and debuffs. It was so fun back in the day, until the mod16 patch came and ruined all 😢😭
I play the game for 2 years at this point. I even play on RU server which is considerably less populated than consoles or PC EU one. And i can easily find people to play both usual and end game content. Yes, search is far from instant but you want from a pretty niche game? Even at its best time the game was pretty niche.
@@ryananon779 yea i can, but ping will be worse and well, mainly i just dont wanna spent another 1k hours on new server :D And as i said, its pretty playable there, so im not complaining. Just pointed that out
ok, good vid. Now may I suggest you have a look at Dungeons & Dragons Online. A game made true to D&D 3.5 - game play very ahead of it's time for 2006. Enjoy!
Don't fall for this. The game is a mess - bad developers, bugs everywhere, and poor performance. The devs seem incompetent, with severe lag, terrible game balance, and a flawed balance philosophy. The last expansion was a dud, featuring horrible loot tables and mechanics.
As a former Rank Six in the Helm Guild of a fun Alliance your video makes me interested.I was playing around the time of endless Dragon Farming..Thank you for your time.'Doc
It’s more like busy work. I feel like I’m at a job every time I have to play it. You have to do the same thing over and over again same dungeon same quest every single day. And with all the layoffs at thr parent company this new mod feels like just busy work Just something to do to keep you busy until they can figure out what else to do.
Hey Caff, I gave -payed the game for some time even reached max lvl, but I deleted the game because of how horrible the servers were, lag and packed burst happened a lot, till this day most servers are still this way so unfortunately I can’t play the game anymore.
I still cant get over the removal of many areas and no more racial/class quests as well as the change to levelling they did post covid and the level cut down to 20 max. Really changed my perspective on the game.
I quitted the game around this time also. I go by the name Ivanus Song. It is not the game is not good. The toxic players made me demotivated with their uncooperative and selfish strategy to aim highest DPS scoreboards. After few failures of the game, they started the blaming game targeting the lowest DPS score players but in facts they were the selfish DPS to get highest damages on the scoreboard instead of following mechanics. I did create to learn on how to be a healer and tanker. I managed to get my tanking skills up to MTOS advanced mode and my healer was not ready due to different learning curves as a DPS player to learn healing and tanking. I agree one thing: 1. No healer and tanking, waited for long hours to host a game. 2. Elitism in Neverwinter, no reputable groups and guilds you will not survive and even discriminated. 3. "Ignore" feature abuse over small matters. Literally, placing capable players on ignore list that it makes difficult to find players. 4. Neverwinter is a rich game. You do not pay to hasten your builds. You cannot keep up and be the top player or even invited in the game without the same set of items. 5. Copy and paste. Must follow the same set and playstyle in order to win. No variations in builds and gameplay. 6. Different time-zones to get active players. It is very difficult for me to stay almost late-night without any sleeps to complete the game. 7. So many bugs!!!!!!! 8. Too demanding in mechanics. NOT all people like to be stressful to play the game. Try to make it moderate. Not too hard or too easy to complete the game! 9. Many of them are quite rude and due to culture differences. We might get into conflicts due to misunderstanding. For example, we remind our friends to rest early and take care of the health for going to sleep early is a caring gesture from Asian players. However, if you remind your Western friend to rest early and stop playing, they will think you are extremely rude by meddling into their affairs as they are adults already. 10. Some even keep trolling and spamming on PE about politics and childish arguments but with no strict actions against them. Keep spamming nonsense on PE. Unlike Wicked, the only past player was only helpful on PE without any nonsense! I felt much less stressful after quitting Neverwinter and with the money 'donated' last time to Neverwinter, I can purchase even more other AAA games such as Elden Rings, Wukong, Hogwarts etc.
I’m still playing it’s now on PS5, I’m in 2 guilds, and I’m also seeing quite a few players playing too. Every time I’ve played this game over the years theres always players playing it so
Ive been playing since launch, few years ago they gutted most of the game. It was the best 2013-2017, but its still a shell of what it used to be even after the countless updates, nerfs, nerfs, patches, nerfs.
I played neverwinter for couple years, almost being a free to play user. Just stopped because content was very reperitive in the end game oriented toward farming very low chance drop items
If you want a better DnD experience, give Dungeons And Dragons Online a try It’s a far more faithful experience to what you can expect from a DnD experience It’s older, but it was originally made by the same people that made LOTRO Make of that what you will But be warned, it DOES show its age in some of the jank that comes up
Was a player since 2017 but the way dev had ruined the game constantly until 2022 made players left,Most of guilds are deth. Players who spent thousand of dollars on neverwinter were really pissed.
Watching at around the 3min mark. Me: "Well this is disappointing not Dwarf and not BALD mustashiod?" 4min mark: "Nevermind. THERE IT IS" (still not dwarf though)
i have alot of fun during more then ten years in this game, looking forward to new 30 mod. NW is really good, thx for nice video. You must try wizard or rogue - its complitly different exp and get u feelings like you can fly
You should suggest play GW2 with its new expansion it's all worth it. I have tried to play it 3 times and could not play because it was not fun to play to me.
My first action oriented rpg... I'm mean... mmo (it was hard to play tab targed after it, so I discovered Gw2). Sadly, I gave up on this game after they changed the leveling process and, well, let's say it gets really annoying to see all the time how you need to pay to have a chance of drop something interesting... The only thing I miss is playing as dwarf. And, sadly, still better on that point (diversity) than many actual mmos (TL with "only human" option or BDO with gender lock, I'm talking about you specially, mostly).
I also dont have friends playing it. But still enjoying just finding random players to queue with. Still a lot of fun, honestly. Already found a few good people i play with frome time to time
I tried guild wars 2 after NW.. man, the game feels so much worse and so outdated. It really amazes me, considering the game released just few years apart
I used to really enjoy this. Until they introduced the bard and used that as an excuse to force eveyone to respec their characters all over again. Max level used to be like 65 or maybe 85. Then they dropped it to 20. Not that big of a deal. But....all the weapons and gear you had maxed out? Nerfed. More or less. Meaning you had to spend money just to get your character back to where it already was. All that time. All that money you'd originally spent. Gone. Down the drain. Taken from you. But...I must be thinking about it because I'm watching this video. Oh, and try a wizard. It's much easier to get through the game with.
The original core story/leveling campaign used to be decent but got butchered into the disjointed tutorial you're seeing. The game remained great for the first tree expansions (until 2014) - then it was sold off and since then, with a few... less dishonorable... exceptions, has been on a spiral of cannibalizing its own content to save the devs from their own amateurism and hubris. The actual PvE after this tutorial is a selection of (largely uninspired and unpolished) campaigns, rendered pointless by power creep: a few repetitive tasks to progress, with a few "story" quests along the way that then unlock as repeatable... But wait, there's more! Most of the campaigns are also time-gated! The seasonal (read "reusable") events are generally a soulless chore, mostly for outdated rewards, and PvP is non-existent due to its complete neglect. Crafting is a convoluted horror with little of note to actually make. Optically, there would be enough dungeons, BUT: the quality in 3/4 of them is sub-par, the design is rushed and clueless, both lacking any sense of awe and unintuitive mechanics-wise. To pad the random queues, most of these are included at easy difficulty, bypassing the unlock via campaigns (further making them redundant), so there's also no sense of progression beyond numbers. The problem is made worse by trying to plug the holes with newbies - waiving the requirements for the newest campaign and bribing them with "basic" high-level junk gear - allowing everyone and their dog into (nominally) gear-restricted queues they can't contribute in. So there are no public queues (not just long wait times, you won't find one, period) for anything more advanced than the lowest common denominator of random queues. This means subjecting yourself to arbitrary requirements in the lfg chat or private channels, and the culture that comes with it, to play anything relevant, qualified or not. As a result, the community spirit is way past its zenith, "apathy" sums it up among the veterans who used to be the motivated, helping backbone. "Power creep" doesn't do justice to what this game does - it's closer to hyperinflation. The devs invariably, inexorably, corner themselves every few expansions and have to equalize everything, erasing your effort while introducing the next source of inconsistency in the same sentence. Can't have open-ended progression with no barriers and scaling as an afterthought, all at the same time - and then still not learn. The graphics engine has been evolving over the years and can look impressive for a 2013 MMO, but most of the time it's killed by atrocious models and map design with zero artistic vision, even in "new content" (quote marks because the latest two mods are rehashed leveling zones and dungeons from the base game, after they weren't good enough years ago). The game can be played 100% for free at any level, this isn't the issue (you can even legally trade the in-game currency for the premium one, in a reasonable enough quantity to buy you the VIP and season passes, though the orders currently take over 10 months to fill) - the issue is that the store is almost exclusively made up of gameplay-affecting items (half of them outdated, much of the rest at out-of touch prices if they can be looted), rather than cosmetics, which should absolutely be what a game like this should build its monetization on. But if you don't have the talent to make those visuals, you're left wondering why the players don't spend and the game can't support itself.
the mechanics of the game have nothing to do with D&D. the character has few skills that he can use at the same time and above all the game is p2w. Always these Devs have to introduce their currency, what is that supposed to be. They should pay a tax on NFT. the new MMO throne and liberty is a crap, after level 50 you do mostly boring contracts and dungeons. pvp does not exist because one stunlock kills you.
I think neverwinter never took off because of small details. the combat has this weird hitstop between hits that looks very uncanny and off putting . The story is super generic and it doesnt seen to have challenging and constant content updates. It also released in a bad moment and in a bad form. This game could've been much bigger.
What are you talking about? Game is 11 years old and still plays really nice. Its just amazing how devs managed to nail the tech at the start so it still holds up. And action in this game is better than in 99% of MMOs. I just recently tried T&L and it so, so much worse. And yes, the game have constant content updates. We literally had 2 modules released this year and new one releasing in just 3 days. Why do you need to lie so much?
This is a good game, deep. just poorly funded for a while. loads to do including Guilds. Game needs investment and some love, it could be massive. Hope the new devs show the game love, well worth playing, it is free...
It was a great game but with all the trash changes to milk money out of people and more games coming out, the game is pretty bad, at least on PlayStation. It sometimes takes an hour to find tanks for rtq or raq, back in 2021 even 2022 you could find a group in maybe 20 minutes at the most. I think I will quit for good when my VIP runs out this time. Maybe one day we can get a neverwinter 2.0
I thought the same thing, I was hoping for Nvrwntr 2.0, but with 99% of Cryptic staff now gone, it's just never going to happen. It would have taken a year minimum to learn how to use Unreal 5 and then port over the assets and glue it all back together. It sure would have looked amazing, though.
Thought about coming back but it's better to just play one of the crpgs out today. This guy making the video won't even stick with the game, i guarantee it. It's just dated and it's not like it has real roleplay like single player dnd crpgs do. If you want something like that play star wars online, actually has dialogue choices. It'll get boring fast. Before that ErrorXF guy hops on my comment: calm down fanboy lol I don't care. Dudes hopping through every comment like lmao, we get it, you and all 1000+ players think it's top tier. Awesome for you
neverwinter is the most pay to win game i’ve ever played. so don’t gamble or throw away money and they will start with you need this to level up a weapon then you need this. 200 dollars for a mount and tons of other buy ins that you simply will not grind out for free. I added up that i spent about 3k over two years and that was not even close many players had 7-12k just tied up in a few characters. I stopped playing after mod 6 as i realized not only was it super expensive but also graphics blew dead servers etc . Trust me don’t boot this game up it’s straight aids.
Only reason i was interested in this game is Ravenloft and Drzzt.. and the other IP's D&D has.. The gameplay is meh... Just a poor vehicle to place such well known and loved properties in..
It’s a snooze fest of a game. WoW just released Anniversary Classic servers that are fun AF. And there are only 3 so the population will remain concentrated.
The game is rubbish. I left the game about 9 months ago after having enough of the back of passion put into the game from the devs etc. Yeah its fun when you first start, but soon you realise it's really REALLY bad.
@jingtroc23 fortnite is probably like 1st game in the chart. Does it mean its really good and better than all other games? Most amazing games i know are pretty niche and far from top charts
This game is straight garbology... The pvp is trash... The classes suck... It's just junk compared to literally every other MMO... New world makes this game look like it's 30 years behind
What saddens me is that still the most popular video on NW is Josh Strife's one.. considering how wrong his video is, and also outdated at this point. You may say im just a hardcore NW fan who would defend the game in any situation, but no, i literally started playing the game after watching his video, in the end of 2022. And still playing the game, and still have fun (95k IL now) And people also refer to that all the time and already in this comment section too, but it just shows how little Josh in the first place and people who refer to it know about modern neverwinter. Btw, i wrote a comment under his video highlighting the flaws of it, and he answered even. Guess what he said? "The video is an entertainment medium, if you want pure information they have patch notes". I guess that's says enough. Yes you can find my comment, just sort by new and scroll a little. Though i played a lot since writing that comment so its probably a little outdated too. Like he literally spends 5 minutes it feels like talking about how pay to win the game is, and as an example he shows.. stones of health, and resurrection scrolls.. WHICH YOU CAN BUY EASILY ON AUCTION HOUSE REALLY CHEAP. Like you can literally buy 250 uses of stone of health and 20 scrolls just by spending hour doing dailys And you don't need all this until the very endgame anyway. And you can get them by other means too.. and you dont even need stones of health, i still use usual potions in the endgame even and its fine.. oh man, dont get me started Dont get me wrong, NW has problems, NW is not game for everyone. But as an active player for last 2 years ive seen clearly that there are two distinct groups of people: first, is people who just play the game and enjoy it, knowing its goods and bads, and they discuss the game in a rational manner. And there is second group, consisting of just always salty players who just made hating NW their main goal in life. They just cant miss an NW video without writing a comment how dead and horrible the game is. They never happy with any change that happens in NW, even if its super neutral and even positive. They barely even know what game is like but they still do it. And yes, you can boost your progress in game with real money. But its far from being required, and a lot of things in the game you just cant get with money anyway. The first time i even considered donating was after 500!!! hours of playing. And it wasn't like "i have to" it was "i really like the game, i may to". And yes, i would say that just buying VIP is probably a way to go. It makes the game more convenient and speed ups your progress a little, and you also pay the devs, because they need to eat you know, games free. I know a lot of people who never donated and still got to the top of the game. Yes, it takes more time, but its an mmo.. even with money it will take enough time. The main thing is to enjoy the process. If you dont - money wont fix it
Games been around for years and has had multiple expansions. Pretty sure you either don't know what a cash grab is or are using it wrong. Either way this statement is flat out false.
I really, really liked this review. I have 10 + years old account in this game and initially I've spent quite a lot of time and effort in it (not money thou and tl.dr. money = pay to win... it practically is via a bit of in game currency trade direct gear purchase Central Market all other ~"things" aside)(But please, please, obviously do not do it, if you do not know what you are doing, or at all). Than I've played ~other games... for one thing Diablo III released after than... and like a month in, after friends (which I guess I used to have around than) convinced me is great fun, by talk and by directly showing me on their PCs while visiting... I kind of "migrated" to Diablo III (don`t get me wrong D2 was a real growing up experience for me, I've played that game backwards and forwards to 120%+, for a kid of course... but around that % for everyone that is not , the RUclipsr, or someone like RaizQT or something, the twitch PoE player that also Diablo II once in a while). Than my exact chain of mmorpgs, after D3 Ended for me on it`s first expansion... was Tera Online (rip that game, retail done since like few years ago) and than Blade & Soul (pretty decent Asian alternative), than I played ~another game which I won`t even commerce underneath D&D video (but still kind of mmorpg)... and now I play ~... yet another mmorpg... But I still have NWN installed and all of this typed was kind of needless also :P. Sorry. Fighter is very solid class, but it`s a bit too "stationary" and mechanic and it`s like "math pron" most of the time (most of the classes in this game are) in comparison to others still... meaning it`s very solid combat indeed, but there are even better... but it is a matter of choice still. Also i know it would have been too much effort, but the entry level for 5 people real dungeon is 25 000 Gear Score... (it`s like 3 days from complete blank on medium skilled gamer, or less, or week tops, obviously no listening to the voice acting thou and a bit of research and using of the Central Market). Practically the entire campaign you've shown is the tutorial to the dungeon rounds of the dungeon que once 25 000 (than there is 2nd tier, which I admittedly don`t have even on my main, because I don`t main NWN, dully note - It is very boring for that in 2024 as is any que dungeon simulator that exists) I have like few of my 8 characters on that GS to have fun around with (but not my Fighter btw). One more thing. If you are someone (not the maker of this video) That have read up to here and intend to give NWN a chance... The moment you start some double (triple for good measure) number in Ks (that `d be 000s) in Astral Diamonds go to the "Auction House" (actually the Central Market in this game) and start scouting for this "Guardian Angel" or something... The Healer angel pet will make the difference between needless normal/hard (depending on class and skilling path choices) to straight up easy ~as far as leveling and other initial content is concerned. To not play with the affordable of the Auction House healer Guardian Angel is straight up hindering your progress... The problem is if you wanna "collect it" over "consistency currency" in this game... costs roughly an year... but it costs like 12 to 2 hours of Astral Diamonds on nearly all account stages (or of course 50 seconds on some accounts). Especially for fighter... obviously if you are playing healing class/spec yourself might be a bit dumb. Obviously after you are done with MSQ to lvl 20 (and a bit more of the following up optional campaign that you can unlock, it`s behind Gear Score, GS, lock) you need to polish your GS with the Campaign reward Astral Diamonds with , (make a bit of research on that) and mount Glyph Words and slightly better than the quest Companion Items (and obviously higher grade companion of choice) to hit that 25 000 and than que all the Dungeons for that GS tier to truly experience Neverwinter. (It took me roughly 3 days after I "unfroze" my 2013 account to align some of my characters to that number and I've pushed my main to 40 000 in before I ran out of steam. The current top possible is like 105 000 GS, but effective builds are 95 000 to 98 000, because some of the GS "pump" items are like in game shit because of other stat factors besides the raw GS they give. (I also couldn`t help myself, but to watch a few videos on what currently is going on and also it`s always been kind of like that).
neverwinter is the most pay to win game i’ve ever played. so don’t gamble or throw away money and they will start with you need this to level up a weapon then you need this. Trust me don’t boot this game up it’s straight aids.
every time I try to start Neverwinter again, I only see what the game has lost.
@@SticksAandstonesBozo how many hours did you play in the current neverwinter?
My favourite game of all time! I still play for several hours each day. There's always something on my Neverwinter to-do list :)
and what about pvp bro ?
@@WRATH-34 If you want pvp you can find it but it's not what I'm into. The kind of elite players who do pvp would tear me a new one 😂
DDO is better
@@Supergrunt8 maybe if youre 40 and have no bitches
Rogues are constantly broken back and forth in your favor then not, etc...
Neverwinter is the only game I’ve played that’s gotten so progressively worse over the years.
thats why it is dead and has been for a while , it has very little players left, also its bleeding players very slowly. all the dumb changes and redoing everything over and over has made most of their player base leave and they never came back, right now the game has 500-1k players on daily thats it.
Unfortunately that's true but I still play it
@@daveygravy1234 Wrong on the numbers. According to recently released information the total daily players are around 5-6k but otherwise yeah.
Fun to play I'm a 6 year player.
don’t forget tons of micro transactions and how much is a decent mount again. Your going no where if you try and grind for free
Its garbage since Thomas Foss destroyed the combat.
What happened with the combat? I always think about going back to this game
Actually this game has some of the best combat comparitively.
I started in the end of 2022, already have 1k+ hours and had a lot of fun
Honestly i really doubt if the game would be much better if they would religiously do whatever salty fans say. Ive seen so many comments of people not liking literally every darn change in the game, or making up reasons to hate it. Just chill the f out, in just the game. You literally look like a kid who angry that parents didnt buy him a candy, after you already eat a bag of them
@@nerdError0XF some people actually have standards, dont shame others because you dont.
It's fine for free to play. People that complain are the ones that spend $ on it then something changes and they're mad they paid.
The only MMO I have played for more than 100 hours. Loved it back in 2016-18. Now I just don't have so much time to play it :(
Been playing this for over a decade now. It may not be perfect but apparently it's still good enough for me to stay after all these years!
The game is still a good time!
It's unbelievable that it's still around :D
And its pretty playable, even on less populated server. People saying the game is dead definetly have no idea about current state of the game
Yes, its far from popular MMOs, its is a niche game. But it was always like this, eve in its best times, so its i dont understand what people are surprised about
best combat system by far
@@nerdError0XF Get a grip, you're foaming at the mouth in these comments
… using multiple characters on mmos, is nothing new at all
@@nerdError0XF Lol rage baiting in all the comments huh?
I wish we'd get a DnD mmo in Forgotten Realms with this combat. And thats it. Everything else can go especially the egregious cash shop.
I think that's one I'm going to try out here soon.
It was so fun back in the day, until the mod16 patch came and ruined all 😢😭
Loved Neverwinter years back. I've leveled a few different characters but unfortunately it was so dead couldn't queue for any content :(
Queues don't pop because 99% of players queue as DPS. Queues pop instantly for me as I main a tank.
Fast q pop for Tanks, pretty fast for Healers too. Dps can take exceptionally long
I play the game for 2 years at this point. I even play on RU server which is considerably less populated than consoles or PC EU one. And i can easily find people to play both usual and end game content. Yes, search is far from instant but you want from a pretty niche game? Even at its best time the game was pretty niche.
@@nerdError0XF I played with a Russian yesterday. Are you sure you have to play on a less populated server?
@@ryananon779 yea i can, but ping will be worse and well, mainly i just dont wanna spent another 1k hours on new server :D

ok, good vid.
The last expansion was a dud, featuring horrible loot tables and mechanics.

i stop playing it after the great bann since i didnt cheat and still lost every i played so many hours for
It’s more like busy work. I feel like I’m at a job every time I have to play it. You have to do the same thing over and over again same dungeon same quest every single day. And with all the layoffs at thr parent company this new mod feels like just busy work Just something to do to keep you busy until they can figure out what else to do.
Yeah I can concur with this the bit that I did play it was alot of fun!
it keeps getting worse but i cannot let it go, i have 56 days on in i still love the game
Wow that's a long time!
I played at launch and remember the combat and animation being amazing for an mmo.
I agree one thing:
Every time I’ve played this game over the years theres always players playing it so
Been playing since 2019, my main is a Wood Elf Hunter Ranger.
Please make "classic" server with how the game was before changes in mod 16, bring back og classes and combat systems old feats.
Ive been playing since launch, few years ago they gutted most of the game. It was the best 2013-2017, but its still a shell of what it used to be even after the countless updates, nerfs, nerfs, patches, nerfs.
I still hate they got rid of content
I played neverwinter for couple years, almost being a free to play user. Just stopped because content was very reperitive in the end game oriented toward farming very low chance drop items
Best mmorpg in the world after 20 years i playing mmorpg, neverwinter is juste a best.
If you want a better DnD experience, give Dungeons And Dragons Online a try
It’s a far more faithful experience to what you can expect from a DnD experience
It’s older, but it was originally made by the same people that made LOTRO
Make of that what you will
But be warned, it DOES show its age in some of the jank that comes up

You should suggest play GW2 with its new expansion it's all worth it.
I have tried to play it 3 times and could not play because it was not fun to play to me.
LoL this guy must be new. 😅😅
I love this game I play most days on ps4 happy hunting everyone 👍
Every game if "fun" if you play for a couple weeks and then never again.

Why did you say Guild Wars 1? Now I gotta boot the PC cause I'm mega rich on it 😂
Lol causing all sorts of havoc with these videos
I think you quitting guild wars 2 has clouded your judgement
But if you don't have the talent to make those visuals, you're left wondering why the players don't spend and the game can't support itself.

would be good if they did OCE servers but they wont bc murica
the mechanics of the game have nothing to do with D&D. the character has few skills that he can use at the same time and above all the game is p2w. Always these Devs have to introduce their currency, what is that supposed to be. They should pay a tax on NFT. the new MMO throne and liberty is a crap, after level 50 you do mostly boring contracts and dungeons. pvp does not exist because one stunlock kills you.
I've heard this a few times and in my initial playtime I didn't see it but I certainly can understand why people say so
I think neverwinter never took off because of small details.
the combat has this weird hitstop between hits that looks very uncanny and off putting .
50 people still play this
It’s a snooze fest of a game. WoW just released Anniversary Classic servers that are fun AF. And there are only 3 so the population will remain concentrated.
True, I never played it at launch so I wanted to give it a try
The game is rubbish. I left the game about 9 months ago after having enough of the back of passion put into the game from the devs etc. Yeah its fun when you first start, but soon you realise it's really REALLY bad.
I play since the end of 2022 and have 1k+ hours already.. at what point it becomes bad exactly? Cant wait!
@nerdError0XF it's currently sitting at 114th position on the steam mmo charts... you will see, like I did and many others.
@jingtroc23 fortnite is probably like 1st game in the chart. Does it mean its really good and better than all other games? Most amazing games i know are pretty niche and far from top charts
Nah. Its a shell of its former self. Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) is WAY better.
Someone got a good paycheck for this review...
Or you just salty that game is better than you think and there is a lot of people enjoy it?..
This game is straight garbology... The pvp is trash... The classes suck... It's just junk compared to literally every other MMO... New world makes this game look like it's 30 years behind
It maybe towards later in the game but early on its been fun!
What saddens me is that still the most popular video on NW is Josh Strife's one.. considering how wrong his video is, and also outdated at this point. You may say im just a hardcore NW fan who would defend the game in any situation, but no, i literally started playing the game after watching his video, in the end of 2022. And still playing the game, and still have fun (95k IL now)
And people also refer to that all the time and already in this comment section too, but it just shows how little Josh in the first place and people who refer to it know about modern neverwinter.
And you can get them by other means too.. and you dont even need stones of health, i still use usual potions in the endgame even and its fine.. oh man, dont get me started
Dont get me wrong, NW has problems, NW is not game for everyone.
If you dont - money wont fix it
Unbelievably Trash
dont promote, cashgrabs please.
Don’t dictate others videos please
Games been around for years and has had multiple expansions. Pretty sure you either don't know what a cash grab is or are using it wrong. Either way this statement is flat out false.
@@grandtheftaudio6386 Its pay to win game.
No its not. You obviously have no idea about the game
Ddo is better
true
3rd!
bro quit that shit asap

Моя любимая ММОРПГ в которую я отыграл 8 лет и иногда захожу в игру .
My dude stop.
Neverwinter is dead. Cryptic is dead. They are releasing vaulted content.
Do your research.
I didn't say it was thriving nor crazy popular. I said the experience that I had was alot of fun!
@garlaanx 😂
I like it. But never had friends who played. So I couldn’t keep logging in because of it.
