Suggestion for Yugi vs Pegasus: Pegasus uses pot of greed, and says "You don't know what this card does., Yugi-boy If you beat me, I will also release this card too." This would make sense, because no one plays pot of greed until season 2. This would be hilarious
I do like that you went with the original idea for the "Ghost Kaiba" rather than the weird "shadow realm" Kaiba the dub did. Having him just be the "impersonator of the dead" feels much more real than "the dark side of Kaiba brought back from the shadow realm." The Joey and Mai tag team are pretty cool. Good continuation.
Yeah for sure, if I'm being honest it's always been in my top 5 least favourite episodes ever, I don't know why but there's so much with it where as a kid and even now I just really didn't like it, but it served a purpose so felt wrong to remove it. Thank you!
A suggestion I have is for during the round 2 between Yugi and Kaiba, when Kaiba threatens to jump, you could have a flashback to his father, who had done something similar when Kaiba took over the Kaiba Corp.
Mai's face turn happens pretty much immediately after her loss to Joey here rather than eventually coming around to Yugi and friends after they're nice to her, it just feels a bit too soon - she's the one who convinced Rex to duel Joey and forbid Yugi to give him advice just to prove her loss was a fluke, and it's not until Yugi defeats PaniK to win her star chips back that she realises that they're actually sincere about being her friends and she repays them by helping Yugi get into Pegasus' castle and giving Joey her unneeded finals entry card later on. I certainly like the idea of Weevil and Rex teaming up in a tag duel against Joey, but instead of Mai, he teams up with Tristan - legally, Joey isn't a competitor in the tournament since he had no invite, so Rex and Weevil could play up about getting the trespassers thrown off the island while Joey and Tristan could deal with their prior spat during the duel (and if Téa has a deck with her so that she could duel Mai, surely Tristan would, too, and we'd hopefully see more cards that he might play besides just Cyber Commander and Lava Battleguard.) While Joey and Tristan butt heads during their turns, Weevil and Rex act high and mighty about being two professionals ready to trounce a pair of highschool nobodies, but eventually start getting in each other's way themselves (using each other's cards without permission, taking up space on the field, etc.) whilst Joey and Tristan make up when Swamp and Lava Battleguards defend one another from attacks - when Rex makes the bargain with Joey to put Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Time Wizard as ante for the duel, Tristan could be the one to bring Baby Dragon back from the graveyard with his Monster Reborn, allowing Joey to summon Thousand Dragon and defeat the fossilised Red-Eyes, reaffirming that the two may fight, but deep down they're still good friends.
I love the idea, Joey and Tristan teaming up did cross my mind but the "illegal player" part stemmed from the fact Tea didn't have star-chips more than the invite so she shouldn't be able to duel for chips. I understand the Mai coming around thing very quickly but in my story I don't think Mai was ever really an antagonist, just needed to learn not to think about herself all the time, and I like the idea of her taking a liking to Joey before anyone else shocking even herself. Love your ideas though and thanks for the comment!
Mai and Joey teaming up was my favorite part! I think it would be best to leave as little information about what originally happened in the series out. of the rewrite as possible, only comparing what originally happened with what you are changing since anyone watching will already be familiar with the original script
Thanks for the comment! I definitely can see where you're coming from but I just feel as though it flows much better as a story if you were to sit through and watch the whole thing, but I appreciate the thought!
I think the duel between Mako and Yugi/ The Pharaoh this would be a good opportunity to show that the legendary fisherman’s weakness. Since the area technically acted as Umi. Yugi could have attacked him directly for game instead.
@@tay-yugioh It’s alright considering how well you put the rest of this re writing. Missing a thing here and there are bound to happen at some point. I think you are doing a great job so far and I’m looking forward to seeing the next video of this series!
This episode was pretty alright. Kinda felt like Duelist Kingdom with minor changes but changes for the sake of changes are dumb so that's fine I guess
Suggestion: If Joey doesn't win, but still gets the cash prize, he shouldn't need it all for Serinaty's/his sister's eye operation. As a result of this, he should give money to Mako, so he can get a boat, and sail the seas.
It's definitely a nice idea, and I can see myself doing more with Mako in Battle City or even other arcs I make myself so hopefully there will be more for him.
Man this episode is so peak! Making the clown guy a clayface/chameleon type of guy was perfect, and the tag team duel was amazing character development for both mai and joey, individually and as a duo. Mai gets an on screen win, and the underbaked mai/joey relationship from the anime is starting out with strong character. Keep up the excellent work!
Love it. I like the tag duil being I tried so soon and the Rex weeble friendship starting. I like most of it but why not have the sacrifice rule from the starts? The best part of hindesight is you can play things closer to the real rules
I recently replied to another comment about something similar so I'll just copy and paste that here, "I personally like the fact that the rules change during Battle City because it's a way of seeing the game improve within the realms of the anime, which I found really cool as a young kid." And thanks for the comment! I honestly love seeing tag duels in the anime and think they should've been done more, so I thought for Mai, Weevil and Rex's characters it was a good place to sprinkle one in.
I can completely understand where you're coming from but for me I always feel Weevil has been a more calculated antagonist, he should be the type to always put his success before others downfalls, hence later deciding to try team up against Joey, getting to Yugi even more while attempting to make sure he's at no risk. Thank you for the comment though!
@@tay-yugioh thanks. Tbf, I had commented while I was on that part. If that had happened the joey Mai tag duel wouldn’t have happened so it’s a pretty clever choice
I’m glad you have direct attacks as part of the writing. It was so annoying to watch duels drag on because they couldn’t attack directly, season 1 was so scuffed in general but I still love it.
There's some wacky rules I loved in season 1 but god I hated the no direct attacks, the idea someone can just not summon a monster and not lose?? Stupid.
Golly gee willikers is that my favourite RUclipsr Yu-Gi-Oh Fantasy with his fire new avatar and fire new profile banner dropping some HEAT into my sub box???
I like that there’s actually a reason and solution to why Tristan is always such a douche to Joey cause in the show yeah they were friends but he was always so mean to Joey that it would genuinely frustrate me all the time cause he would not act like his friend like a majority of the time
This is such an interesting concept for a video but it is ruined by the fact that there’s that music in the background. What made you think that we can keep listening to the same repetitive japanese yugioh theme for 17 minutes? You could do away with the music entirely, or at least make it match what you’re saying.
Trust me without the music, it’s far less enticing, but I can understand your opinion of the one track. In the first video I alternated between two but I think the constant switching would be more irritating, we’re all entitled to our own opinions though, and I hope you can enjoy the content regardless!
Frankly, for now it looks more like a recap with minor tweaks than rewrite. Why don't give Duelist Kingdom more clear rules? You also did very little to improve some characters traits and motivations.
Yeah, I can definitely see where you're coming from, but we are still only on Part 2. I personally like the fact that the rules change during Battle City because it's a way of seeing the game improve within the realms of the anime, which I found really cool as a young kid. Also, there's only so much changing you can do in such little time, but I appreciate the feedback!

I can't believe Yugi dueled that freaky fish guy, after he threw that harpoon. It's enough to make me want to destroy the moon.
I am really glad there is another person on here interested in bringing us yugioh what ifs and rewrites. Thanks gor appearing Tay.
