However, for the most part it is not common because you lose the auto tracking ability - the major advantage to a robotic total station over a manual. You are taking a one man operation and turning it into a two man operation.

You do not have to use 360 prisms with robotics. I use -40mm and -17.5mm all the time for high accuracy horizontal with robotics.
