Great timing brother since everyone is getting sick this time of year. It truly does take more discipline to know when to pull back when you're dedicated to your craft and bodybuilding is your passion. Hope you feel 100% as soon as possible!
pulling back and doing less is indeed difficult when sick or injured. and i'm just a regular joe gym guy, not a competitor like yall and it still gets me down. it always feels like a setback, but is really just part of life. Which i have to remind myself in those times. Two steps forward, one step back, repeat=progress. i'm struggling with a lower back injury from leg press now, so trying to stay positive and give that portion of the body a break while focusing on arms for a while instead. thanks for the reminder and showing that yall experienced "pros" deal with this on the regular too.
Yesterday was my first day back in the gym after a week off sick. I did a normal upper day but just without supersetting because my lungs cant handle that yet. Went to the gym this morning to do lower, put the bar on my back, took a step back, felt my breathing and realized this wasn't going to happen. So now Im back at home watching Star Trek lol. Maybe tomorrow.
I usually advise my clients heal up when sick - long term it's better since recovery all draws from the same resource pool. It also encourages them to think in terms of long-term sustainable habits instead of freaking out over a few missed or light days
Jeff, doing a cut now at 169cm weight in 69kgs from 73kgs. Plan to drop another 2 kgs for the next two months. How long do you suggest to stay in kcal deficit or stay in the maintain at 67kgs?
To each their own, but personally, I don’t let my ego and or insecurities lead me. I’m okay with resting…sometimes it takes more discipline not to train, especially when it’s for the greater good. Resting doesn’t make me less than. -Jeff
Im literally sick rn. Great timing
Get well soon and hope this helps. -Jeff

Have you tried laying on your other side? Then flipping the pillow to the cool side? Then repeating indefinitely? 😭

When I’m sick and think about not training, I put my big boy pants on, man up and train anyway.
