Thank you for sharing how your year is going so far! It's nice to hear a "real" update where things are under review and changes are being made to make things run smoother. Love the idea of doing homeschool work with friends. That might really help with the push back from some of my kiddos.
It sounds like we have the same approach with having them show up but also not putting too much stress on them. Thank you for joining us in this collab ❤
Yes! We actually did school together again today and it went so great! It can get a little chaotic at times (just because there are so many more voices), but the kids all have such good attitudes when their friends are doing school with them!
I used your star system idea 😂 and so far it's working AND the gum/mints idea except we are using mini chocolates bc mine are chocolate lovers 😄 We have had a rocky start... Our fall break is the 1st week in October and already I need to regroup 😂 so anxiously awaiting that week so I can reevaluate and make adjustments. Whew! 😅
I'm so glad the star system is working for y'all!! Ohhh I'm a chocolate lover too! 😄 I totally understand being ready for a break! We took a long weekend away last weekend to go to the lake with friends and it was a wonderful reprieve! 😅 Having time off to make tweaks is so fantastic and really needed! I hope you feel refreshed after your break!
That's awesome!! We actually did school together again today and it went great and then we got to hit up the neighborhood pool afterwards! These are the days when I'm really thankful for this lifestyle!
You're right about that, we just really thrive in all other ways with that summer break 😄 but we recently downloaded the Hooked on Math app and I think that might be a good solution for keeping up with their math facts during the summer in a fun way! Do you do year round schooling?
Anna(from Just Makin' in Work)has a good system for what to do with younger ones with room time, table time, sibling time, and a toy rotation system. Some of her ideas might help with your little ones.
My kids still love Math U see, too. I am glad because I kind of do too. I have learned some math skills from mr Demme that I really struggled with as a kid.
Are you able to be reimbursed some money if the BJU Press online schooling wasn’t a right fit? I’m interested in it , but do t want it to take us 1.5 hours to finish everything. We are currently doing AAR1 and then will be diving into TGTBK LA. We did TGTB Primer with my 5 yr old. She was a reluctant reader for a while!
I'm not sure about getting reimbursed by BJU - I would check their FAQs or email them directly! We've never done All About Reading, but I really like the updated (as of like 2yrs ago I think) version of TGTB! I had a reluctant reader and around age 7 it all clicked and then he started devouring books!! Sometimes taking the foot off the gas when they're reluctant is a helpful strategy :)

Thank you so much! Yes, we did it again last Friday and it went so great! Such a nice change up!
So fun that you and your friends did school together!! I have had other kiddos for school before but mom didn't come😄
Well aren't you the best for doing that!! I'm sure that was a huge blessing to their mom! But doing it together was really fun and very helpful!
@@TheJohnsonCrew Aw, thank you! I was thankful to be able to help out! And yes! That set up sounds so wonderful!
Just have to say- Great lighting!
Thank you so much! I'll have to find the link to my ring light! 😍
We started using times this year and it has worked wonders for the both of us.
Right?! It's such a useful tool instead of trying to keep everything timed out in our heads (because that rarely works 😅)!

Exactly! I think we do too! 👏🏼👏🏼 Thanks for the open invitation! This was a fun one!
I love the gum idea!! I am so going to do that!
🙌🏻🙌🏻 yes, it's such a great reward/mood booster!
I homeschool my son’s best friend and it works out so well. He comes twice a week.
That's so cool! What a great idea!
We use timers for EVERYTHING! 😂 Really, almost…
😂that's awesome! They're super helpful!!!
I try to have my older ones rotate their breaks with my youngest also. Some days it works and some days it completely doesn't🤷♀🤣
Exactly!!! 🤣 🤪 right there with you!!
@@TheJohnsonCrew 🙃
I like that idea of having another homeschool friend come over and doing school together. Sounds fun.

@@TheJohnsonCrew I really love this idea as well.

I definitely have a friend that I have considered doing “homeschool work” together with.

I think you can avoid the forgetfulness ( for your son) by doing year round schooling

@@TheJohnsonCrew yes:) we do six weeks of school and then take a week off throughout the year:)

I love Anna!! Yes, I need to go get more ideas from her!! Thank you!

Yes, he teaches me too! It can be so tricky to teach some elementary math things 😅😅

Do you add a Bible curriculum in?
Not a curriculum, but my husband does Bible time with them at breakfast each morning and we work on memorizing verses together!
