Cool to see all these VW's set up for drag. Im in the United States and the FWD drag racing is dominated by honda's almost nobody is building Golf's or Jetta's to make big power or go drag racing. All these video's from South Africa make me want to sell my turbo civic and build a 1.8t swap mk1 or mk2 golf as these cars are very cheap and unloved over here lol.
Man my jms corsa is 111 000hp😂😂😂😂lol jokes i have Steven from JMS old corsa B the green one at that stage she was 507kw at 1.8bar.... now after I converted to solid lifter setup with supertech Valves spring and retainers she is making on a bad day 570kw and over 600kw on 1.5 bar. on a good day.... I am prepping her..should see me at the Rock in the next few weeks to start collecting data. Looki.g forward to meetimg everyone soon ....❤🚗

Good times in old times! It is very impressive (also very hard) to break into anything below 10's with the low air pressure and dry air on the inland racing venue's. All in all, it's very impressive! It is too bad that there ain't anymore proper racing being done. All the good places closed down. Rainbow drag strip, the old Nigel dices after Koos Hannekom died there.... "dragwars" in Brakpan.... Wesbank raceway...

The real question is, will Tarlton go back into full swing with bigger events than the current "2 o'clock Saturday afternoon R300 all you can fit in go test your long term lease car"? Was hoping that there would be a special mention of Jaco Liebenberg who was as I have it one of the first vw frontwheel drives in his scirocco to break the 10s. Even crashed it after the record. He was one of the 3 Amigos in the very early SnS days. Believe the other two amigos were Paul and Alex. Those were the days😊
RIP Jaco, he was truly a good guy. Knew him since the early 90's when he was still driving a 1600 Manta. He also built me a killer 16v box for my Golf.
@riaannel2766 I remember the manta. My brother worked in a workshop next to the gearbox place where he used to work. When he experimented with the green 2 door golf on the SnS cover, my uncle told me he would bring his head in on a Monday morning and pick it up on Friday payday. Then repeat again on Monday until he got it sorted.
Big deal slow fwd even with wheelie bar can not get into 6 seconds or 5 seconds only usual 8 seconds deadlock that's all even rare to even go down to 7 seconds what a shame and remember fwd wheel hop and loss of traction in drag race better buy old rwd and modify it cheaper I need to burden with fwd sensitive drive train doing double job accelerating and steering fwd sucks

For the VW guys, check out the drag cars (vw) in Brazil. N/a runs 8.2 and a basically stock block 2.0 16v in a chevette (ascona) runs 6's...
Remember these cars are running these times at 5500ft altitude......
