I love this comment and have a suggestion for major since he hasn’t played it. Major, find a gameplay channel that just plays the game no commentary and react to the game play on a Wednesday/Thursday following episodes up to the point you think the game has caught up to your point of the show.
I say you probably don’t watch any game play bc it would almost have to spoil the show for you. Just in case!

These infected people aren’t zombies they are actually still alive.
Like the epidemiologist said in the beginning the fungus is controlling their minds. It wants them to spread the infection.
I’ve seen what advanced infection cases from the game look like. It’s pretty gross.
It kind reminds me of The Flood from the Halo game series.
They are very dead, trust me. It is said that it feeds on them from the inside. They are just empty shells controlled by the fungus,

@@matthewpeek6890 I have not played the game but i l dont have a problem "spoilering" myself and for what i understand they are still conscious in the 2 first stages of the infection. What makes it even more terrifying.
They aren't zombies, who die, then come back from that death. They are infected. When the little boy came up red, the woman distracted him while the man euthanized him.

This episode did such a great job adopting the video game. The girl that plays Sarah is Thandie newtons daughter. Dunno if you ever seen westworld but she’s amazing and her daughter did such a great job! 💜

Skills mind set = make anything work aka burnt out cars, riot shields for glass, wheels use compressed springs wrapped in leather for tires, engines made made from bike parts to create a 3 cylinder radial engine that can be fitted behind the passenger seat away from damage areas running on alternate fuels booze-methane-HH0-compresed air seats planks of wood.. just some of my skill sets... :)

I often think it’s good to not play the game before you watch this show, because you’re not prone to judging the show for what the game might have primed for you to expect, this way you’re judging the show for it is does on its own terms, and you’re not constantly comparing. It allows for a much more natural response to the narrative.
I keep finding myself calling the main characters Bella and Pedro, or Lyanna and Oberyn. I need to get used to calling them Ellie and Joel. 😅
You should definitely play through it, maybe after the first season. I've played through 3 times and this first episode did not disappoint!
I think it's definitely better for your channel, and probably for your experience that you have not played the game. If this first episode is setting up the way the season will go, they are staying extremely close to the games story. I think an unspoiled reaction is best.
You are the first person i have seen with literally no idea what the premise is and it made the early suspense so much better
The creepiest thing about the last of us is that what he said about fungus in the beginning is true. The "zombie" fungus in the game and show, cordyceps, exists and it actually works like this and effects bugs and even some small animals. Or candida, yeast, people can have candida overgrowth and the candida in your gut will send signals to your brain making you crave sugar so it can sustain itself inside you. And if you stop eating sugar, it'll try to shut your brain down, leading to brain fog, tiredness, and a queezy feeling.
I'm excited to see the reaction of someone experiencing the story completely blind. Almost all the other reaction channels have played the games.
When that fight with the FEDRA guy happened and Ellie was just looking at Joel, I think she realized she finally had someone that would risk everything to protect her. On the other hand, Joel is protecting her so fiercely because he couldn't protect Sarah from the military guy in the beginning of it all.
Also, I do recommend playing the game, but maybe it would be a good idea to wait until the show is over since its where you started. As an avid fan of the game, I absolutely loved this first episode and I'm so excited for what's to come.
Like the director said. Her seeing Joel do that “activated” her .she didn’t cry or anything.she was charged by it . Remember when Sarah saw Joel kill she cried. But Ellie was on some yesss now I wanna kill as well lol
I always love the very beginning of this because I live in the area of Texas where Joel and Sarah were before the outbreak. Hearing names of places where I live is super cool. Also, I did look it up out of curiosity and the Travis County Jail is actually on 10th Street in Austin XD
For a first episode this was insanely good Sarah's death was absolutely heartbreaking fantastic acting by Nico Parker!! Pedro and Bella are gonna be epic together and this show is gonna be huge!! Bravo HBO
yea the 1st game is a absolute masterpiece and much like the 1st ep of this shows it hits u in the feels heavily early on

Great reaction! Sarah’s death is equally heart-wrenching in the game (if not more because she’s younger). Also, just a note: these aren’t zombies. Zombies are reanimated corpses, but as hinted at in the beginning of the episode, this is fungus that affects living people and takes control of their bodies, which is why wheelchair-bound Nana was able to run like that. Scary stuff.
Looking forward to more reactions…and definitely play the game! The show is good so far but the game is perfection!

So hyped. Loved it. It was on at two in the morning here in the UK so recorded it, my son has played the games so was desperate to watch it. This was such a great first episode. I knew what was going to happen yet I was still holding my breath in some scenes
In the game, Marlene was really good friends with Ellie’s mom before she passed. That’s why she knows and cares so much for Ellie.
I think we’ll find out about that in the show later

From when Sarah gave Joel his birthday gift to "20 Years Later" was straight from the game. It is STILL a punch in the gut.
There are two games (part 1 and 2 that are out so far) I have played both soooo many times and am IN LOVE with this show. There are some differences but the creative decisions they have made with those differences have been very impressive. I definitely recommend waiting til you finish the first season and then play the games since you already started the show I wouldn’t want you to get spoilers in the game. Loved your reaction as always. Buckle up. You’re in for a ride!
I just found this guy and let me say I mess with this reaction HEAVY, some people force dialogue and sometimes it feels fake, I feel like he’s immersed in the story and we’re just chilling watching it together, love the vibes

I appreciate your upload. Keep'em coming! I'm enjoying watching someone who doesn't know what the story is, reacting to it for the first time.
This is by far the BEST video game adaptation ever made! Period!! Nothing comes close to this. This series is true to the game. There are changes, yes, but the changes are fleshing out moments, adding detail to what the game did, but so many of the scenes are from the actual game--The Millers in the truck, going through town and up to that heartbreaking moment was tonally 100%. Though much worse here, as they gave us more time to get attached to characters the game didn't give--not saying it wasn't as emotional in the game (it'll rip your heart out too), just that we knew more about Sarah and the neighbors, so much more. We got to see the place before things went south, and the slow build up was AWESOME!
Oh, I don't know if you noticed, but Joel, Tommy and Sarah didn't eat any yeast the day the world ended. Sarah wanted to make pancakes, but they didn't have pancake mix. Tommy was going to eat something that was in Tupperware, but he put it away after smelling it (did it smell off?). Their neighbors, the Adlers were eating biscuits! The made raisin cookies too--Sarah didn't any any of them, neither did Tommy or Joel. Yeast is a type of fungus! Remember the epidemiologist was talking about fungus adapting to global warming and finding away to control people, that's what's happened. Nana Adler had cordyceps tendrils coming out of her mouth when she bit into her daughter, and that's how the people are becoming infected, they're being implanted with fungi.
Merle Dandridge, the actress playing Marlene, is the only character who is playing the same character in the game and series, and she's killing it. Well, everyone is killing it!
I watched my brother play this game in 2013 while I was drawing. The opening scene destroyed me back then and now... there is so much they did frame by frame. Since you never played the game, you're in for a wild ride! Cant wait until you see the clickers in action
Info if episode 2 doesn't explain. In the early days of the infection while the QZ's where being set up the Military ran bombing runs to clear out groupings of the infected and to reduce places they could stay in to try and kill them off when winter came. It had limited success and the terrain in some places is reflected of that objective.

Yo, so the scene where Marlene is convincing Joel and Tess to take Ellie, that was right after a firefight between the fireflies and Roberts crew. Basically, it was a deal gone bad. Robert was trying to sell the Fireflies a bad battery and didn't like that they wouldn't take the deal for obvious reasons. Marlene, Kim and Ellie were the only ones that made it out alive from that fight.
I haven't played the game either and I am loving the series by going in blind.
if you have a playstation, i very highly recommend just even playing the intro just to see how good it truely is. the game and show are very similar intro wise but i really like the shows small changes that they made just as much as i like the game. if you dont have a playstation honestly just watch a quick video of someone playing it on youtube its just as chaotic and a masterpiece
I'm honestly kinda glad you haven't played the game first ☺ since most reactors seem to have played the game, they're already spoiled for the storyline so the reactions are all basically the same and they can't be surprised or shocked by some things. As a extremely huge Last of Us fan who absolutely loves both games Part 1 and 2 loved every moment of the pilot there is some changes made but at least they stick as most to the game material as possible which is great.
Ever notice how many times Joel could have been infected through food that day? He didn't get pancakes, he didn't take the biscuit, he forgot the cake, the cookies that Sarah brought home weren't ones either of them wanted. Seriously...

Haven’t played the game either but I’m enjoying the show. I prefer watching shows and movies that I know little about. It removes any unconscious bias I might have felt otherwise.

Wow I have watched many reactions to this series, your was the best , keep it up, I subscribed and will be following your journey to episode 9. I am glad you are not a gamer and are seeing this for the first time, So to answer you main question in TWD everyone was infected and when they died they turned into zombies. Here only people who have been in contact with the infected get infected normally by a bite. So if you are infected and die the fungus also dies. If not infected you just die normally.
Atkins chocolate coconut bars are to die for!! This was a great intro into the season. Ellie was bit 3 weeks ago and it healed. hmm sounds like something to study. Hate that she has to be treated like property tho.

Great reaction Major. To answer your question, "What would you guys do?" in this situation, my answer is that unfortunately, I wouldn't have much of a choice. I'm in the military, so I guess follow orders... I dunno about shooting kids though man, in a world that's already kinda Hell, it might be curtains for me if they asked that of me.

just here for black last of us reactions lmao but yea man you should def play the game, its dope af,, tons of action. would say to play part 1, then the dlc, then part 2 if you havent gotten to it yet then come back and rewatch the show. there are so many easter eggs for us that have played the game. i cried every episode, heartbreakingly beautiful adaptation. perfection.
