I remember the day he passed away, hearing the news while staying at friends' house who just didn't know him. It was a sad day, indeed, for the loss of someone so prolific in my life and mostly childhood.
I absolutely loved the Rocketeer. The production design and just flat out joy of flight. This film did not get the love it deserves. The goosebumps that Horner gets in this score? If you're a plane nut you'll understand. I don't have to explain it. Chills. This piece is like the launch sequence in Apollo 13. When a film puts the hair on my arms up? THEY HAVE ME. They should remake this film.
You do not need to be a plane nut iam not and i think this one of the greatest movie scores that will ever exist and dont ask for remakes they only work 1% of the time and i dont want this beauty ruining
haha I read this too fast and thought it said "The Rocketeer Suite". I thought someone was cosplaying . Still not disappointed. Loved the movie and Horner.
My father got two tickets to see this movie. I have no idea how he got them, because the tickets weren't like normal movie tickets, they were large things with this poster image on them. We went together, and I loved it! Not long after he became a complete alcoholic, so this is one of my best memories of him. I usually watch this movie every Christmas. I forgot to this year, so I am listening to this instead.
Paul Sorvino was perfect in this movie. I just picked up the 20th ann blu-ray. Great job putting to disc. Sound and cinematography super. This music isn't exactly a "suite" The first 10 min are just the Main title and opening scene as written for the movie. Horner at his absolute best. The movie is emminently worth watching just for Horner's music. The DTS sound on the blu-ray is fabulous. Some of the same phrasings as used in The Wrath of Khan, another fabulous soundtrack helping to put the whole faltering movie franchise back onm track. I and my wife were in the theater on Friday evening the weekend Star Trek II broke box office records to date for an opening weekend. So many great James Horner moments.

Evokes memories of reading Golden age comics from when I was a kid, also very Korngold in style.
When I was a kid

@@plummet3860 A remake of this could be great. The FX are at the level they need to be now.
@@roquefortfiles the fx are perfectly fine in this movie though i dont know what you want to improve
@@plummet3860 They're decent. But there is lots they could improve. I can get into it if you want.
Remake this movie: NO. Never discredit this classic with a crappy remake. Curse anyone who tries.
so atmospheric. evokes the heyday of flying.

I reworked the throttle, so just squeeze it like a gas pedal. If you wanna stop mash down hard and than let go.
Goosebumps every time!

This is awesome 👏 thank You
Awesome Golden Age of Super Heroes Art !
Definitely Horner's "Magnum Opus"...!
The middle section of music was used in sooo many movie trailers in the 90's
which ones
This thing's got a rudder on it, if you want to turn, just turn your head
Space Mountain version 1 at Disneyland Paris!!
Another great soundtrack from a great and fun movie. It's turning out last century movies are far superior to this century's.
I can hear a lot of Horner's (excellent) Wrath of Khan score in this.
TheGameFilmGuruMan kicks off right around 2:30. I said the same thing! 😂😁 I could imagine it being in the second part of the fight scene
Yep.
