Man, Pete was just a beast on those skins. Just a killer drummer who never got the recognition he deserved during his all-too-short lifetime. Those of us who knew, knew. For me he was right up there with the greatest drummers of all time… and he was just a kid when they cut those classic albums. Still a teenager on the first two.
I’m a lifer where Echo is concerned. The first four albums are burned into my soul at this point, and I still go see them whenever the opportunity presents itself and don’t dislike the post-reunion albums (though they’re not even in the same universe as the first four). However, ever since Pete’s departure there has always been something big missing, and it’s a hole that will never be filled. Drummers of Pete’s caliber are extremely few and far between.
    Rest in power

I must say this song shows off the skill of the bass player who incorporated at least three styles all in one song (slap funk, standard rock, and aggressive guitar style). Ian's voice was booming and without the slightest hint of strain.

Give the drummer his due. This is one of the most furious pieces of drumming I've ever heard. And the guitarist as well. In fact all of them. They are all firing on all 4 cylinders, and then some.

There was a short era in English music. 1980 to 1982. So much brilliant stuff happened then. The music, the culture, the fashion. A great time to be alive, and a great time to be young. It was like the tired 70s had finished but the naff and bloated 80s had not yet begun. 1983 to 1985 were still okay, but the rot had started to set in. By '86, it was downhill from there.
