They should name this version the Conqueror. Man this truck helped Taliban acquire Afghanistan working 24/7 😂
300 Kgs less payload but still rides like a load carrying Ute, and spacer plates in the suspension and a prehistoric 4x4 system … what is the GR Hilux actually useful for? You cannot use it for work or for touring as you are already 300kgs behind all the competitors from the factory! Gee, you would only need 4 carnivore tradies in the cab and a few bags of cement, a mixer and some tools and you are illegal … come on Toyota this is silly!
Missed opportunity for Toyota to build a Wildtrak X but with slightly more KW and NW … the Tacoma I-Force Max cannot come soon enough for Toyota Australia.
It’s not expensive because it lasts a long time as long as you give it the periodic maintenance it require on time and it doesn’t break down !
Righto. So the same could be said for any car.
agree toyota make a solid ute, had my hilux for 11 years and it’s only just started having minor problems now,
Toyota playing catch up to Ford with this GR Sport model for Hilux. Buy Triton (current gen) and save as its clearly the better vehicle in this sort of application, the Navara Warrior is also a better choice save for the engine which Premcar did not touch (sadly), even GWM have something in this end of the market segment wiht there new Cannon X (or what ever they named it).
The recently released Wildtrak X (which used to be the FX4 MAX) is more inline as the main competitor.
Yep, the Cannon XSR - I’m doing a review on it soon!
Hilux can tow 3500 the Raptor 2500 I know which one that means for me
@@seanfrazer4589 - I see heaps of Ranger raptors (previous Gen and current Gen) and NONE have anything attached to them that said I also see a heap of standard ranger which do towing.
This will be the same for Toyota, not many "Rouge" owners owing, I suspect the same for GR versions in the future.
Toyota does not play catch up with any other player
People will still buy it because it's a Toyota. I am one of those. I don't car about Fords fancy interior or the cheap pricetag on a Chinese vehicle. You get what you pay for and Ford, as a good reliable vehicle, still does not have a similar amazing reputation as the Hilux. I'll stay with the best.🦾
@@danielbredenkamp3957 - in this case with the GR they are playing catch up, if you can't or don't understand that so be it.
If you look at this end of the segment there are the following options:
- Ranger Wildtrak X (formerly FX4 MAX) Factory production vehicle
- Triton Extreme - 3rd party enhanced Walkinshaw Automotive
- Navara Pro4X Warrior -3rd party enhanced party Premcar Automotive
- BT50 Thunder- Factory production vehicle
- Cannon XSR - Factory production vehicle
- T60 Trailraider - 3rd party enhanced by Walkinshaw Automotive
catch up?
Hilux GR Sport - factory production
need I say more?
Also don't forget the Ranger Raptor but that is a different class of vehicle.
Toyota and reputation? laughable these days. these days every car has issues, no matter how good they executed in design and development the real world issues are there due to the variables.
What a nice way to say it's crap😊
It isn’t crap. It’s just not as loveable to live with as many other utes.
I’m sorry by my new Toyota Hilux GR Sport can tow 3500kg - the Raptor can only tow 2500
Correct. How often do you actually tow that much?
That much no but OVER 2500 yes
So buy a V6 diesel Ranger. Looks better, tows better… way better…
Technically it can tow
3.5 t
At that towing weight, u have barely any Payload left over, once u allow for the Tow Ball Down Weight.
If u add some light weight accessories to the Hilux, and a full tank of fuel, and a driver, u would be at GVM, if u were towing 3.5 t
With a lot of accessories, the weight of this, would put u over GVM, in above example, when towing 3.5 t
If u r going to regularly tow 3 t, or more, particularly over long distances etc, probably best to buy a more appropriate vehicle, that can manage towing
3 t, or more, much better, then a Hilux…
@@thomjanson9644 no thanks
Angry customers call out Ford over lemon cars I A Current Affair check it mate
Navara looks way better.. and Nissans have always been stronger… still a 4 cylinder diesel tho… lame…
Haha so much 4-cyl hate!
The ford ranger bias on this report is palpable
Bias? For believing that a better ute is better? Okay.
Getting sick of the Ford
Bias in all these reviews - look how many Rangers have blown engines and transmissions in less than 12 months - shit Paul another car reviewer had his WHOLE diff die after 1200km and replaced !!! No thanks FORD - found on road dead lives up to it’s name
Yep, but this isn’t the “which ute will have the fewest problems” channel. This is advice for new car buyers. Not everyone has issues with their Fords - and you bet your backside there are Toyota owners who have had issues!!
slapping on some fugly flares is a joke
This guys been with every car channel, All these guys out here trying to be like Paul maric at car expert
And ?????
So he can’t make some coin? I liked Matt when he was in Carsguide. Don’t know what happen to that mob, I use to love their Podcarst eps. I think they went backwards when they cut that. Seems to have cut their costs.
Looks like Matt is doing what every other journo is doing these days, trying to survive in media. Good luck to him.
Thanks for the support…?
I have been with a few sites - I still contribute to CarExpert and WhichCar and GoAuto with words, too.
But I was made redundant by CarsGuide late last year and decided I should have a crack at RUclips with my own channel.
Furthermore, Paul has a team of videographers and editors. I am basically a one-man band for most of it. So I think I deserve a bit more than “trying to be like Paul”. I’m doing my own thing, and they’re doing theirs.
@therightcar . More Power To You Matt !
I subscribe to 6 car channels, yours included of course, for their various perspectives and review styles.
There's at least 1,000,006 I don't subscribe to.
I subscribe to you because you give us the guts.
Each review gives us the good, the bad, the alternatives.
But always, you stay true to your name.
"""Is this The Right Car ? That's for You to decide !"""
@therightcar reach 350k subs in 3 years, then come back, bruh, took car advice/ drive fukn 12 years to do that
This is by far a better car than the Ford Raptor. The power and nice interior of the Ford Raptor means nothing due to reliability. Ford Rangers are very unreliable.
How many have you bought?
@@therightcar may i ask you sir, what is the highest sale car brand in your country? I dont understand why the toyota is still no. 1 here even though they say its outdated
No I wont get the Raptor because it is not simply a durable truck. And it breaks down often.
This based on rumours?
it is not a raptor , it doesnt break down all the time, it has longevity and durability and you dont get a nosebleed writing a cheque for it, so no, it is not a raptor, but kind of plain jane, toyotas are always that way since time began, theyre number one automotive manufacturer in the world so i dont see them changing that philosophy
I mean, there’s warranty for a reason!
WTF Navlife? hahahaha
It’s #navlyf bro. Check it out on Insta.
lol
Ill take this anytime of the dayover your favorite Raptor which has a transmission and engine problem. Pity you ford fanboy
I’m no fanboy champ. You get a new car warranty for a reason.
So many problems with Ford, even if you only use it on the street.
Oh you’ve owned one have you?
This guy definitely didn’t get paid by ford to say those nice things about the ranger LOL.. we all know they’re lemons mate, cut the crap
I don’t get paid by anyone but RUclips, champ.
@@therightcar so you’re promoting a lemon for free, and you’re a car reviewer ? that’s worse
