Hey I love you guys! I am literally dropping everything and travling to Mexico City because of you guys! (Despite what my names indicates, I've never been.)
She's probably been living here for a years because there is no way anyone can find an 850 one-bedroom apartment in LA especially in Highland Park!!! This is such a steal!!!!
Yeah highland Park is only expensive because of all the gentrification that's going on. Being someone who was born and raised in hlp it breaks my heart seeing families forced to move out just because the landlord wants to renovate and jack up to bring in more weathly people the local schools are forced to cut classes because there's a shortage of families my friend mom who works at the elementary school has to work at 2 schools because of this. Gentrification is hurting highland Park but no one cares because of all the hipster coffee shops and bars are so awesome and cool
Stacy Gonzalez I like being able to walk around and not get shot at. Im willing to move to a safe place, or pay a lot more, to avoid living with thugs. You want lower rent.. Move to Watts, South LA or Compton. Inglewood is about to get taken over.
Haha making things nice is hurting people. Wtf? Is there anything that people can't be bitches about? A landlord isn't a bad person for investing in their INVESTMENT. Is it bad if a tenant moves out when the lease is up? If not then it can't be bad vice versa. If you can't follow that logic I'd want you to move out too.
My rent until January is $950 for a large one bedroom in Torrance. It's still doable. Of course I moved in 2001 when it was only $700 (non rent control area though so I guess they just forgot to raise the rent until this recently) Of course January it finally goes up to $1200
If its part of the incorporated City of LA then year rent control applies. Though in general, it pays not to be moving to new apartments all the time. Current tenants always pay far less than newer ones.
Let's all pretend that isn't a peen on top of her bookshelf at 0:20....like, her place is crawling with phallic symbols: hotdogs, banana pillow covers...LOL. What's not to love?
My favorite Sweet Digs yet! This gal is so funny, sincere, and down to earth. Plus her eclectic and funky style is refreshing in a sea of white minimal spaces. LOVED this episode!!
I'd definitely go mad with that much colour in my own space but she makes everything work so well. Looks like it encapsulates her very vibrant personality. She's so fascinating; I love her!
The only way this apartment is $850/mo is because of LA rent control and she probably moved in there before hlp started gentrifying. Apartments in San Berdu, Rialto, Fontucky cost more than this at today's market rate. And the only thing you'll find in LA these days for $850/mo is a bedroom.
Absolutely...but who the hell wants to live in Rialto, Fontana, or San Bernadino? This place is a steal for $850 in LA......I'd sell my house and snatch that place up for that price! It's all about the location- do you want to live in LA or do you want to live in the Inland Empire????
$850 for an apartment in LA!?! That's amazing! Most 1 bedroom apartments I've seen were priced at a minimum of $1,300. I didn't even know they had apartments for less than that! I love your apartment. I love how you decorated it. :)
I love her apartment! It's so eclectic, and unique. Love all the color and personality. This is a huge difference from most of the New York apartments. Too much minimalism, and that boring Scandanavian shit. Loved all of it!
Yeah same! After a couple of years it’s like “okay, I get the hype, but I’m ready to not live there anymore” lol. For me, too cramped, too tense and angry, too expensive!
"or just somebody with integrity" there aren't many of those in L.A. (I would know, I've lived here my whole life.) It's likely an older landlord who doesn't have the street smarts of capitalizing on a modern rental market (re: renting out your "meh" place for 3x its mortgage value), or she's been living there for many years, before gentrification took over the Highland Park area.
"You might laugh at me because I'm different, but I laugh at you because your all the same." $850 a month is so awesome! I love when she tells why she will never leave, a great bar, 24 hour taco stand, a restaurant, and a train, blocks from her home.
This is not realistic, the average cost for a place like that in LA would be 1,200. And you wouldn’t be in a very nice neighborhood. She got a hook up from someone who knew someone who knew someone. Come to LA looking for this and you’re going to be out on your ass lol
Exactly what I was thinking. We rent a similar crappy apartment in East Hollywood for $1,400. We have been there for 5 years started paying $1,200. Now it's up to 1,750 for new tenants it's ridiculous
matemahe I said average and you wouldn’t be in a good neighborhood, in most low income neighborhoods the average for a studio is about 1200, and then goes up from there depending on where you live.
Still one of my favorite sweet diggs. Her place is so eclectic, fun, and inviting. So much personality in her place as well. I love these kinds of tours.
I'm from LA. She must've had this apartment for years. I'm looking for an apartment right now and it's hard to find anything besides a roomate for $850
Outside of actuall LA I live by East LA. People feel scared "crime" I mean I never personally seen anything bad I haven't already seen other LA areas East LA, El Sereno, Boyle Heights, Bell, Commerce, Montebello and Bell Gardens, Maywood all pretty cheap
I dont know... i live in the east hollywood/silverlake area and i pay 1085 for a 2 bedrooms with a balcony and 1 parking spot. Lived here for about 5-6 years now
This is a lie, there's a lot of information being left out here. $850 in L.A. cannot get you a place of this size. Also, I'm sure she knows the landlord or something and got hooked up.
Here in the South where I live, $850/mo will put you in the best neighborhoods. I live in a beautiful suburban neighborhood and our house (3bed/2ba, dining room, laundry room, 2 car garage, another garage/storage house in the back with it's own driveway, huge backyard, nice size front yard) was only $700/mo. The mortgage is payed off now. I love our house and we're remodeling soon. Yay!
You cannot get an apt. for that price in most of Southern California. We are having a severe housing crisis here, no one can afford housing $. Don’t let this video tempt you to come out here you will be very disappointed!
Agreed. I live in Los Angeles and this is a total fluke. She even briefly mentions she had a connection to get her apartment at such a cheap price. It's kind of frustrating that this episode acts like her rent for her place is typical. It's not, at all.
@@silkscreenfantastic Ok so I am considering a move to LA from London. In London you cannot get a one bedroom for much less than about $1500. Can you tell me what I would realistically need to spend in LA?
@@clairepulse5761 I currently live in a old school 1950s triplex in Studio City (the neighboring city to Hollywood, if you're unfamiliar). My unit is a one bedroom; I pay 1795 a month for it, which doesn't include utilities. My place would be considered a really good deal here, since the surrounding neighborhood is comprised of expensive houses and really lovely boutiques/restaurants/coffee shops. It's calm and very central at the same time. I've lived here my whole life and would consider this one of the best neighborhoods in the city. The main reason I think I got such a good deal is because a) the building is pretty old, which I personally like (it has a vintage charm), but the appliances, water pressure, etc. aren't that great. And b) my landlord lives on site in the neighboring unit, and the walls are THIN. My landlord is cool, but I have to be fairly quiet most of the time (can't really have parties here or play loud music or anything). I searched for many months to find my place since I was set on living in a nice/central neighborhood and wanted to do so below 2000 a month. That was tough, and it has some caveats like I mentioned, but it's doable. In general, your question would depend on the building itself and the area, but I'd say you'd generally expect to pay 1700-2200 for a good quality one bedroom here. You can find lower if you're flexible about buildings/neighborhoods, too. But overall I'd say the market here is pretty similar to London (also keep in mind our currency is lower than yours, so a 1500 pound place in London equates to a 1900 dollar place here). Good luck with your search!
Wow. Moving to LA. The same size in NYC is like $2K Edit: she’s completely adorable. I’m in love! I can see her being the best mom and pot smoking grandma

Oh my god im IN LOVE with her apartment. I looove Kitschy stuff. A few of my favorite things that I have are my egg shaped wallet, purse that looks like a Chinese takeout box, and a mug shaped like a toilet that I thrifted 💖💖💖
my dad pays this much for his 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house with garage and stairs..living room, den, dining room, office space, and breakfast room but he doesn't live in LA so she lucked up big time she used her space well I love the hand chair
n64central I pay less than this for a two story home with 3 bedrooms and a large bathroom, and a formal dining room. The neighborhood is fine. Not everything is overly expensive in all states.
Uuugghhh. This makes me so depressed I can't find affordable housing Edit: background I pay 1000 for a 300sq studio in Seattle. The housing crisis here is real.
You cannot get this place for $850. I live pretty close I pay $1495 and my apt is rent controlled. So unless you get a roommate this sh*t is impossible.
crazy how different states/cities make a huge difference. i live in Iowa, I have a two bedroom two full bath apartment with all the ameneties & i pay $780 with all utilities included. and i live on the “rich” side of town. not bragging - just crazy how things are so different!!
supply and demand. LA is by the beach, plus Hollywood and other attractions, so it's where everyone wants to be. As much as I love California and LA, I'll take Idaho over it, due to the better quality of life, and your money going farther.
Killer shirt!! My mom toke that album to the library and copied it in the early 90s and used to carve a pumpkin every year out of it. It was badass. Great band thou.
i really wish there was more affordable housing videos. I mean its lovely to look at a 3000 dollar apartment, but its nothing I could really learn from, because its all beautiful....
Diet Clorox Bleach Liberals in California aren't used to getting out of their bubbles. Although even if they left their bubbles, they would just ruin cheap cities by increasing minimum wages, business expenses, wanting more services, etc. $750 in my area can you rent out a whole house.
She lucked out on finding that place or knowing the right peeps. Paying $850 was what I paid in LA for a 1 bedroom, back in 1997!! Anyway, cool bones in that charmer. I'm more minimalist so don't like a lot of stuff out but cool for her that she can display everything she loves and makes her happy.
I like living on both coasts. They are very different. They are both amazing in different ways. Glad to friends & family in the NY & LA area. I'm not married have no kids no pets so I have the freedom to enjoy both!

Oh my god im IN LOVE with her apartment. I looove Kitschy stuff. A few of my favorite things that I have are my egg shaped wallet, purse that looks like a Chinese takeout box, and a mug shaped like a toilet that I thrifted 💖💖💖
lol so much weird stuff
i have like nothing in my room
just feel art supplies and thats it
i have a purse that looks like a kidney
That and contemporary are basically one's only interior-design options when on a tight budget.
Ikr? I'm not a fan of the minimalist look and this was rather the opposite :)
Oh honey, ThanksLIVING! Same, the best looking apartment I've seen on this channel.
i totally got 'juno' vibes from this im so obsessed
my dad pays this much for his 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house with garage and stairs..living room, den, dining room, office space, and breakfast room but he doesn't live in LA so she lucked up big time she used her space well I love the hand chair
Tyler Marie™ hows the neighborhood though?
n64central I pay less than this for a two story home with 3 bedrooms and a large bathroom, and a formal dining room. The neighborhood is fine. Not everything is overly expensive in all states.
he lives in Charleston SC mixed neighborhood of whites and blacks
n64central very quiet he's lived here for about 12 years
MELANIE'S HUSBAND U.S. Army RET yeah many states aren't very expensive...I have heard the California and NY are the most expensive
Oh wow, your apartment is WILD and it has you imprinted all over. It makes me smile. 😍
She says she is different but she us an exact copy of someone i used to work with, mannerism, choice of clothing, decorarions. Etc.
Mr Pink I don't think that was intentional lol
this is such a wonderful video and Christina has such a lovely and unique home. very bright and warm feeling. thanks for the tour!!
That's a pretty sweet deal.
You can't even get that for $1850 in NYC.
I relate so much to this girl, specially the two t-shirts and the amount of books lol. And that apartment!
her house makes me want to cry
Enough Of Ivy why?
maybe its not but it looks messy unorganized and mish mashy
Theres also a dildo on the bookshelf 0:20
Ivy C no it looks cozy and personal.
“It brings me joy”=how I wish to live
I can really relate to Christina haha I love kitsch! my favorite purse is shaped like a crab
Ooh!
My favorite part of her apt is the price is right, plenty of windows & closet space and a very convenient location.Really enjoyed your video.
I felt like I was watching a Portlandia skit...
Her space is so creative!! Not cluttered though, everything is there with intention.
LOve HP! I LIVE 5 minutes from there and pay 1150 for a 2 bedroom. Its bomb!
I love this place. All the funky colors and decor.
They should have given her a heads up that they were coming over to film.
her house just such a big ol happy vibe
Uuugghhh. This makes me so depressed I can't find affordable housing
Edit: background I pay 1000 for a 300sq studio in Seattle. The housing crisis here is real.
sabina pitts here in Kansas City I have a 2 bed 1 bath for 650
You need to move lol. $1000 here gets you an up to date 4 bedroom 2/3 bathroom house.
Same here.
Woah, where's that?
Yup, Seattle is so overpriced.
Favorite episode yet! Love everything about your place. I live in LA as well.
You cannot get this place for $850. I live pretty close I pay $1495 and my apt is rent controlled. So unless you get a roommate this sh*t is impossible.
exactly what I was thinking. Rent is going up like crazy everywhere
crazy how different states/cities make a huge difference. i live in Iowa, I have a two bedroom two full bath apartment with all the ameneties & i pay $780 with all utilities included. and i live on the “rich” side of town. not bragging - just crazy how things are so different!!
supply and demand. LA is by the beach, plus Hollywood and other attractions, so it's where everyone wants to be. As much as I love California and LA, I'll take Idaho over it, due to the better quality of life, and your money going farther.
Hipsters are sooo different. Oversized glasses! Amirite
This made me really happy. Thanks for sharing your home
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! 🎅🎄🎁
Sincerely,
Mr. LittleDick

I think I’ve seen this comment somewhere else -_-
Killer shirt!! My mom toke that album to the library and copied it in the early 90s and used to carve a pumpkin every year out of it. It was badass. Great band thou.
I love refinery 29 videos
Love her being Soo honest!!!
I pay $2,000 monthly for my apartment in LA
i really wish there was more affordable housing videos. I mean its lovely to look at a 3000 dollar apartment, but its nothing I could really learn from, because its all beautiful....
0.40 Hope everyone notices it 😂😂
Love this chick, kindred spirit 💓
Oh btw yes love your place!!
Wow here in Tampa FL for $850 a money can get you a condo or a 5-6 family apartment
Diet Clorox Bleach Liberals in California aren't used to getting out of their bubbles. Although even if they left their bubbles, they would just ruin cheap cities by increasing minimum wages, business expenses, wanting more services, etc.
$750 in my area can you rent out a whole house.
Is that close to Miami( only reason to visit FL)??
@@FernandoGarcia-nz9el yes
She lucked out on finding that place or knowing the right peeps. Paying $850 was what I paid in LA for a 1 bedroom, back in 1997!! Anyway, cool bones in that charmer. I'm more minimalist so don't like a lot of stuff out but cool for her that she can display everything she loves and makes her happy.
Her haircut makes her look triggered 24/7
I like living on both coasts. They are very different. They are both amazing in different ways. Glad to friends & family in the NY & LA area. I'm not married have no kids no pets so I have the freedom to enjoy both!
Too much clutter !!
Mommy Garcia how?

Don’t spill the beans we don’t need no more traffic pls don’t come it’s a lie
I use to live in Highland Park. I love her collection of eyewear. I also love her cute shoes she’s wearing.
