OH, my 'craziest' apartment environment was living in Basauri, Spain in 1990. I shared a very small piso (with only 2 beds) with 3 other guys. Because we all couldn't sleep i beds every night, we rotated. twice a week we each had to kip underneath the table in the kitchen....we put down a couple sleeping bags and pillows but,, the COOL part was, we started a tradition of journaling on the nights we had to sleep under the kitchen table..talking about our day's adventures and mishaps and triumphs. we did this journaling by writing in pen/marker on the under-side of the kitchen table, so it was like a giant yearbook page. when we moved, we had no way of taking it with us as it belonged to the piso-owner. damn tho, i wish we had at least taken pictures of the stuff we wrote--the were memories worth recording.
tons of love for y'all and the work you do. i don't see your vlogs as 'traveling' videos, rather, they are snippets of how we all should live, more frugal, more keen, more focused, and more centered on friendship and love. thank you for sharing with us; it's really appreciated. and don't think we don't know how much work y'all do to edit and make it entertaining and first-rate. y'all are the best of youtube and i mean it with all my heart.

Jo, i just graduated from UCLA and came to the realization that the only type of place I will ever be able to afford for my first apartment is a studio. Your place is absolutely perfect and ideal. Watching your video, I completely forgot that you were living in a studio. I got so much inspiration from watching this one video. Thank you for sharing
i like studio apartments they are so cute, but for $1000 down here in the south thats a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment with utilities included and and a pool + gym 😫 LA would have me broke af

I go to USC so I gotta stay nearby! believe me, I'd love to be, like, in Hermosa Beach. it would prob be cheaper in an apartment with roommates, but I like the neighborhood feel better 😜

I live in a 3 bd/1bath house and I've been griping about paying $350 per month. lol! Not knocking your state (because I LOVE California), but I just know that my income won't allow it at this time. Girl, you had SPACE in this PLACE!!! Such a steal in LA for sure. I have an LA studio in 2020 around the same price and the trade-offs are SO real. I have new appliances and AC/heat in unit but street parking only and definitely less space and storage. This vid is SO helpful for decorating ideas. Hope your current chapter is going amazingly well.

@@zdubz22 An average studio/condo near downtown/Lake averages at around $1400. Assuming you rent instead of buying then you're looking at $900-$1000.

One of the best studio apartments and girl, you are reasonable with the bed, it's nice size bed, not enormous one, like the other girls, which saves space in a tiny living space. Excellent job!!

halie mahiy most housing is old so ya there is no central air/ac but then again it is never hot enough that you cant live without it.

Most places in LA don't have AC units. Especially the closer you get to the beach.
After watching so many videos of people living in NYC and LA, it seems like it's reasonable pricing (although crazy lol). I just hate you can't have AC..that must be terrible especially in that hot heat. But I love how you decorated it. It looks so cozy and warm😊

I relate so much with Jo's apartment decoration. I plan to have a typewriter too because I enjoy writing (In English) and I need a shelf full of books for my other languages as well as Classical Literature (Chaucer, Shakespeare, Wolfgang, Milton, Voltaire etc) ugh. I also love your record collection. I probably plan to get vinyls of my favs like Jimi Hendrix, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Hole, Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath.
