Georgia is one of the oldest European countries in Europe (transcontinental), and Batumi is one of the oldest, very beautiful city, with friendly nice people, great food... and lovely old architecture... Yes, Some modern buildings are ugly, but many nice projects are under construction!
There are about as many skyscrapers in Europe as there are in New York City. Top skylines in Europe are Moscow, Istanbul, London, Frankfurt, Paris/La Defence, Warsaw, Manchester, Rotterdam and Milan.

Athens actually has a skyline limit in order to not hinder the view of the acropolis, which is why (other than the lack of demand for them) there are no skyscrapers. This was ignored during the dictatorship in the 60s and the athens tower was built as well as the recenty (almost?) finished peraus tower.

Oh, interesting! I didn't know the height limit was designed to maintain the acropolis' presence in the skyline. It certainly makes sense for tourism
