Charlie is the reason I started being a Chelsea fan, like so many kids in the 70s.
He was magnificent childhood memories 😊
Lived in London for several years and watched Charlie Cook play many many times. We called him "Bonnie Prince Charlie' and he was a brilliant ball playing inside forward and a real gentleman of the game!
Great podcast Alan. Brings back some great memories
Really enjoyed this podcast. Not your target audience probably - female Blades fan in her 60s, but listen to all your podcasts and love seeing my seventies heroes and heartthrobs, like our very own Tony Currie and Alan Birchenall. I think I started listening and viewing when Alan and TC did that lovely tribute to Frank Worthington, another teenage crush of mine. Don’t know if anyone can confirm or otherwise, but I’m sure I read somewhere that at one point in the 70s, the Blades were going to sign Charlie Cooke, or take him in some kind of exchange deals. I would have loved to have seen him play for us. Best wishes to you all!
Great podcast as always , Chelsea , need more players like Charlie Cooke , game changers
Alan was one as was Peter Osgood . Apologies to Alan if , he is reading this , I am only a fan and we know eff all about the game but clubs like Chelsea and the National team , need an identity not a footballing , regime , first pass is forward and to get all of my cliches in a row , attack is the first form , of defence
No defence is the first form of attack, In Mourinho's first season we conceded 15 goals all season, a record never likely to be broken, we will likely concede 15
this season in the first five or six games, if you cannot defend, you win nothing.
@@jameswiglesworth5004 Tell Alan that 😁
Gary Locke is a great friend of mine, I shall make sure he and Lin see this 👍
Thank you @tonymarshall4164. Please tell Gary he is more than welcome to be a guest on the podcast
@@thealanhudsonpodcast9097 Tell Alan that Gary suffered with a bad shoulder injury for virtually all his career. It meant he couldn’t go to ground as it would dislocate at the slightest blow. It was only rectified after surgery in later life, here in New Zealand.
@@thealanhudsonpodcast9097 Would be great
The only Chelsea players from the sixties that would make it today are Osgood and Hollins, possibly Hudson and Cooke, but question mark there.
You can’t leave The king of the Bridge out charlie
Kerry Dixon would be in any Chelsea team. Was it 250 000 from Reading? Now thats value for money. Migth even be a bit underated. But Dixon was some player, strong, fast and clinical in front of goal.
Sorry have to disagree, not his fault but much of his time was spent with a transitional side, in and out of top division, not sure if he could have maintained his goal scoring
had Chelsea remained in top division
Zola has to be one of best signings. As for Value Tore Andre Flo joined on a free but asked Chelsea to pay 300k to Brann so they did. Then sold him for 12m!!.
Petrescu vialle not got a mention??
Charlie Cooke talks a lot of sense. I like Alan but he is stuck in the past and has never matured. Alan Hudson should learn to listen as well
Exactly right. Charlie Cooke is much more reasoned and generous.
Bobby tambling ..........
rather talk about the past than this PEDs fueled sport today
