  • The EHB1005MS features an American Basswood body and the 5-piece roasted maple/walnut neck for well-balanced tone and clear attack. The roasted maple in the neck is heat-treated to increase stability, durability, moisture resistance, and tolerance of temperature changes. The roasted maple fretboard is also heat-treated for a balanced attack and rich sustain. Highly durable stainless steel frets accentuate tonal brightness and will not rust. The luminescent side dot inlays are easy to see in dark environments and the truss rod adjustment is located at the end of neck for easy access.
The Ibanez EHB's headless construction and specially designed body enable the player to maintain a similar playing position whether seated or standing. Its contoured, ergonomic design and chambered body make for a lightweight, well-balanced, and comfortable instrument that's excellent for long sets or practice sessions.
There is extra carving on the back of the body behind the lower horn for easier upper fret access. Also, the top half of the back of the body is slanted which allows the bass to rest slight closer to the player's body for better control and a more ergonomic feel. The multi-scale design delivers even string tension and comfortable fretting, facilitating a quick, smooth playing action.
The electronics consist of Bartolini BH2 humbuckers and a 3-band active EQ with a variable mid-frequency for wide-reaching tonal flexibility. There is also an EQ bypass switch for passive operation with the treble control acting as a passive tone control when the EQ is bypassed.
The MR5HS bridge is designed especially for the EHB basses and features wide intonation range. Each bridge piece is independently and securely attached to the body for maximum vibration transfer, and the saddles are adjustable for string spacing +/-1.5mm. Teflon washers are used on each tuner for a smooth tuning action.
Schaller S-Lock strap lock pins and a Neutrik locking jack hold the strap and cable securely, and a detachable finger ramp and a gig bag are included with each instrument.

I have the short scale multi-scale EHB and it's the most comfortable bass I've ever had. I did change out the BH2s with Aguilar DCBs and it tightened up the B string greatly. Also, they are already very light basses, but the BH2s have massive magnets in them so there was a weight savings with the pickup change as well.

EHB is the single most comfortable bass I've played. It's a delight. I have the 1505 multiscale and another 1505 straight fret. Went for the 1505 because I don't love the bartolinis.

played one of these basses in a store. Best playing bass i have ever touched. Just in Terms of neck dive it outclasses even the lightest SR basses, even in the 5 string non shortscale version.

@@anotakudetective1546 I might not be the person who made this post but having owned the BTB605MS and now the EHB1505MS and EHB1005MS, I definitely found the EHB as the better instrument overall, especially with how excellent the vari-mid EQ is and being able to easily swap pickups while being stuck with the stock T1 pickups in the BTB multiscale which I really wasn't a fan of. Tried replacing the stock EQ with a darkglass tone capsule and I still couldn't get a tone out of the T1 pickups in the BTB that I truly was happy with. You do lose out on the 37" low B, all my other basses are 34"-37" multiscales so this at first was a concern but the low B really pops as long as you get rid of the BH2s in the EHB1005MS for something like nordstrand zenblades (note that you need to use P4 sized pickups which are typically 6 string pickups, so you'll need to opt for blade magnet pickups like aguilar dcb 6s, nordstrand zenblade 6s, nordstrand bigblade 6s, or contact nordstrand for custom order pickups which is only $30 or so more anyways). another thing to note is that my BTB multiscale was significantly heavier in weight and both of my EHBs overall play better. Also if you're traveling alot for gigs my god the EHB is an absolute godsend as they are way easier to fit in tight places and have insane tuning stability.

I gotta be honest, I saw one in my local music store and was on the fence about it but I picked it up last night and I haven't put it down. I bought it for demoing bass ideas/tracks and in the rare event the bass player in my band needs a spare. I also just love noodling on bass. This thing is killer for the price

Mine is in seafoam green, best 5 string I have played. They do a walnut one know which has my knees trembling.
It does gospel deep and clear to midrange traditional p bass territory.
    I wish it wasn't hollow.
The preamp won't last a lifetime.
It needs a stand at ALL times.
It will pull your amp off the cab.
The pickups are a bit meh in passive
    Still my favourite 5

Cool demo. 😎🤘🏻🎸 even though I’m not really into headless basses, but this bass sounds totally awesome. I’ve been an Ibanez player for a long time and considering I’m more into soundgear basses, this is a great sounding bass.

The Bartolini equipped versions are as you describe. The Nordstrand equipped versions are bright and aggressive. I have owned both and the 1505MS was heads and tails better than the 1005MS, especially in tone.

    • @kanesmith4961
      @kanesmith4961 2 года назад +2

I concur. EHB 1505's with Nordstrands or 1005+a pup mod is the way for a brighter sound. That said I've also seen people in real-life that make the bartolinis sing, so if I get a third EHB I'll probably get a 1005 and experiment with it before swapping the pups.

My take on this bass is that this is a short scale bass that doesnt "sound " like a short scale bass. particularly the fan fret implementation seems like a gimmick. 35inch is a great scale for the low B however there is no need to do a fan fret for a 35 inch scale. I have a 5 string with a 35 inch scale and it doesn't even feel "big" Just get a 35 inch scale bass imo and save money. This bass is for somoene who wants a short scale 5 string but doesnt want it to "sound" like a short scale. If you want all the benefits of a long scale 37-34 scale is best

I had Bartolini soapbars in my bass with carbon fiber neck and alder body. But the sound was similar to what I hear in this review, like if the tone knob was always at half.
