these guys deserve their own show here in canada, I'd totally tune in every week even if it was 30 mins every week. Jealous of that Dungeon and Dragons art book, one of my favorite series of games of all time.
It's great to see Robman back! My favorite art book/strategy guide is the fallout 3 game of the year edition collector's edition hardcover strategy guide.
Great vid, I like art books. Its cool to play a game, then look at the concept art, and then play through it again. It really makes you feel more conected to the vision of the artists and developers.
You guys never cease to amaze me. Great collection of art books! I just checked on Ebay and that Xenogears book is going anywhere from $200-$300+ so you got a heck of a deal on it.
I met Keiji Inafune a couple months ago and got my Mega Man Official Complete Works and Mega Man X Official Complete Works autographed. I have no idea how much they could be worth, but I'm never planning to sell them anyway. You two are the best people on RUclips, keep it up!
I bought the 20th anniversary Final Fantasy Ultimania books (3 of them) that cover all the main line games up until about 2 years ago. I love them... so many great pics!
I never really owned art books like you guys did/do. When I was a lot younger, probably like 10 or 11 I owned a "How to Draw Crash Bandicoot" book. I'd probably buy that SNK one though because I'm such a fan of their work. Specifically Fatal Fury.
I love seeing art book collections, I collect some myself :D. I have: The Art of Mass Effect, The Art of the Mass Effect Universe, Okami Complete Works, The Art of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (signed by Yoji Shinkawa!), Ashley Wood's Art of Metal Gear Solid, Hyrule Historia, Valkryia Chronicles Design Archive, Fire Emblem Awakening, The Art of Dead Space, and the Art of FFIX signed by Hirnobu Sakaguchi! If you want to see pictures of the signed ones I'd be happy to upload some. :)
Thanks for this great episode. As a artist and designer myself, I love seeing the art behind the work in game. I myself have a great book called Oxide 2. It is the artwork of Hyung Tae Kim, the lead artist on Magna Carta and War of Genesis. His art style is so rich and fluid it bring the characters to life.
Before I list some books -- great vid. I love gaming art books, and the old-school Game Cave ads in the old GameFan magazine are what opened my eyes up to them (my first ever was Capcom Illustrations). Other books of note: Oxide 2 (Kim Hyung Tae, of Magna Carta Fame), Range Murata has some beautiful artbooks (of Power Instinct series, Matrimelee), Masamune Shirow's Intron Depot 1 through 4 books, Cacpom Design Works (import book), there's a few for now. Great work.
My favorit Artbook is Magnacarta The Phantom of Avalanche it has stunning Visual references and artworks. I had bought the Game as a special limited edition with the Artbook and trading card Game from Hongkong back in the day and the shipping for this killed me too.
I love art books. I myself am an artist and I constantly design my own characters and renditions of existing characters. I have a couple like MGS3, Persona 4, Final Fantasy and Fable. I really do want more though. Great stuff guys.
Best part of any Collectors Limited Editions, but I don't think that gamers feel the same way. I would hope for more large hard covers art books included in LE like Bioshock 2's 160 hard cover.
I've got a few small art books that came with game preorders like Makai Kingdom, but I've really been wanting those Mega Man Complete Works books for awhile now, I just haven't gotten around to getting them yet. Very cool art books guys, it makes me want to go pick some up when I have the money. On a side note, while I'm sure it's already been mentioned, I have heard that Square Enix was working on a new Parasite Eve game for the PSP.
I only have Art-Books for Mass Effect 1 and 2 (the ME2 one from the Limited Edition set) and they are awesome. Although since game consoles can render closer to the designs its not as interesting as seeing what an 8-bit sprite is meant to be. Great video, cant wait for more.
Parasite Eve was a very well designed series. The monsters wear something else, especially the human face bird walking monster in PE 2. It is a shame they didn't make another one on the PS1 or PS2. I always liked FF Tactics, Vagrant Story and FF12 artwork. That team always had awesome designs. I have the strategy guides, but no art books.
Awesome video guys, these artworks really kick ass! :-D Where I live we do not have so much of them, but we have a lot of great comics about gaming :-)
The only art books I have, are the Persona 3 and Growlanser art books that come with the game when you buy the special edition. They're fairly small but they're both very nice and gives some more insight on the games, especially the Growlnaser one because it talks about the games from the series have not come out in America.
Great show you guys, I only have three faux art books :P - The Strategy Guide for Soul Calibur 2 (it came with the soundtrack as an extra) - The Complete Official Guide of Final Fantasy 13 Limited Edition - The collector's guide of Bayonetta
I have an artbook of Sakura Taisen, along with a gorgeous poster. Haven't played any of the games, but I'm saving up for the first english one, hopefully it'll be good.
Great episode, guys!! Those are all great art books. I actually didn't know there was a Parasite Eve artbook!! That looks like a real treasure! 5 Stars!
Hey guys, excellent review of the artbooks. I can't really say I go out of my way to collect them unless they're from some of my favorite games or if they come with an already existing pre-order. I am a big xenogears fan and I now own my very own copy of the xenogears perfect work collection and I also own the final fantasy IX artbook as well. Thanks for letting me know about the parasite eve artbook, you gave me a great gift idea for my wife, she since absolutely loves this series.
Wow, I just checked the Amazon UK store to see if they had those Mega Man art books... they do! Only £16.49 as well, I'll get it when I get the money, but that was just a heads up for the UK people watching! :-)
@originalfusedesigns I for sure we know about Parasite Eve 2 I have finished that game too. I was meaning a sequel to the series which is coming on PSP but we really wanted it on a console..
I have the 3 volume hardcover edition ot THE SKY: The Art of Final Fantasy. It cover all the games and it is amazing.I recommend it for fans of the series.
Artwork is so important. Though it bothers me that artbooks are so rare around here.. And it bothers me that the metroid series, and especialy the Legend of Zelda series never got a decent artbook. If there are game series that needed so much depth, it where deffinitly those.
As soon as i saw this i ordered the mega man official complete works, fantastic book! I also have a street fighter boo k called Street Fighter, the complete history.
Can't believe no one mentioned the half life 2 art book. Weather you're a die hard fan of half life or not that book is just incredible. I would like some recommendations on art books that actually have paintings in them as opposed to the simple art seen in the mega man style books. Similar to the skyrim art book and the game of throne game art book. Any suggestions? Sci fi and fantasy are a plus but open to any suggestions. :)
I presume you meant you want to see a sequel to the art book of Parasite Eve, as there is of course a sequel to the game. Anyway, another great episode - always enjoying seeing your vids :)
@SuperLuigiMatthew Fantastic video guys! I dont have many artbooks at the moment, starting to get quite a nice collection of promotional art cards though. The sort of things you get with pre-orders etc.
Hmm... I was one of the first to post but for some reason youtube is not letting most of my posts go through. Anyways, what I said was that it's quite a coincidence. I just ordered the Okami and Complete Megaman books yesterday. Good thing too as I predict they will sell a lot better after this vid. I wish Nintendo made some.
sweet, i mostly own Capcom artbooks, I have "Early works" "Eternal challenge" same one featured in this video, and a couple others. I also own a Soul Calibur 2 artbook :)
10 years later, and now we have the R25 megaman artbook which you guys might have already , and it's as thick as a bible
man, I want to smell those books! megaman and final fantasy especially.
now i wanna buy some art books
Castlevania and persona have some of my all time favorite art. good video guys :D
these guys deserve their own show here in canada, I'd totally tune in every week even if it was 30 mins every week.

I have the Megaman Zero and Okami Art book. They are awesome! Just reliving the moments of some of your favorite games is just fantastic.
A lot of people don't understand that video games are part of what got me into drawing!
You guys never cease to amaze me. Great collection of art books! I just checked on Ebay and that Xenogears book is going anywhere from $200-$300+ so you got a heck of a deal on it.
Guildwars has the best series of artbooks ever. Plus the new art for guildwars 2 is looking OH SO FREAKING FANTASTIC
I'm a big fan of the Warcraft 3 artbook, that one is great. I love seing the early concepts of the night elf's, undead, and even the orcs and humans.
I met Keiji Inafune a couple months ago and got my Mega Man Official Complete Works and Mega Man X Official Complete Works autographed. I have no idea how much they could be worth, but I'm never planning to sell them anyway.
You two are the best people on RUclips, keep it up!
Get the Breath of Fire series artbook. It is amazing, I love it. You will love it also.
Specifically Fatal Fury.
great stuff! I have that FF9 artbook, I love it so much :)
Awesome art books guys! I swear, if theres a collectors edition for a game I really lke and it comes with an artbook I just have to have it.
Never played Valkyria Chronicles 3 but I'm getting the art book for that game tomorrow!

@PrincessAsh1ey Shadow Hearts art books? Must find! I loooooove that series! We need another game with Yuri in it! :D
Great vid. Now I want to start collecting art books!, lol
DUDE!! You got the Megaman Zero art book, I want that so bad! Zero is one of my favorite series.
I have a friend that buys a lot of these and he just loves owning and looking through them.
Great video guys. : )
You got the megaman zero artbook! I'm so jealous! I LOVE the art style in that game.
Way cool stuff. Thanks for the idea, video game artwork books. Just got put on the Christmas wish list.
My favorite one is the FF9 book. I think it's the finest work out.
Best part of any Collectors Limited Editions, but I don't think that gamers feel the same way. I would hope for more large hard covers art books included in LE like Bioshock 2's 160 hard cover.

I am so jealous of the ffxi artbook! I've been playing it for about 5 years now and would really like to get the art of it.
I only have Art-Books for Mass Effect 1 and 2 (the ME2 one from the Limited Edition set) and they are awesome. Although since game consoles can render closer to the designs its not as interesting as seeing what an 8-bit sprite is meant to be.

lol, i just noticed that you can hear idola have the immortal feather in the background.
Very awesome stuff guys.
I have a lot of game guides, but the only art book I have is for the first Monster Hunter on PS2.
So much passion, I love it!
Awesome video guys, these artworks really kick ass! :-D
Where I live we do not have so much of them, but we have a lot of great comics about gaming :-)
looks like i'll have to go grab a copy of those mega man art books!
The only art books I have, are the Persona 3 and Growlanser art books that come with the game when you buy the special edition. They're fairly small but they're both very nice and gives some more insight on the games, especially the Growlnaser one because it talks about the games from the series have not come out in America.

Another great episode guys!!
Nice to see Robman there.
i love this show. Its the only show i watch on youtube
If I could afford to, I'd collect strategy guides and art books for rpgs.
I have an artbook of Sakura Taisen, along with a gorgeous poster. Haven't played any of the games, but I'm saving up for the first english one, hopefully it'll be good.
Art also helps your imagination when you play games specially game that are not very detailed like 16 bit games etc..
Great episode, guys!! Those are all great art books. I actually didn't know there was a Parasite Eve artbook!! That looks like a real treasure! 5 Stars!
Have you guys checked out the "art of oddworld inhabitants" book? Talk about gorgeous and original art! Give it a look! Great episode of course!

@CinemaSeven Thanks mate! Good to be back. :D

The word that you are looking for when describing the covers is embossed.
How I wish that Xenogears perfect works was translated. I'd read it like multiple times a year.
I have the 3 volume hardcover edition ot THE SKY: The Art of Final Fantasy. It cover all the games and it is amazing.I recommend it for fans of the series.
Great video guys. i don't have any art books but i'm looking for the mega man one
Awesome like always I have Okami art book it's fantastic art book.
Artwork is so important. Though it bothers me that artbooks are so rare around here..
And it bothers me that the metroid series, and especialy the Legend of Zelda series never got a decent artbook. If there are game series that needed so much depth, it where deffinitly those.
Also, I have the Bayonetta and Bioshock 2 art books, that's all I can remember anyway.
Man, your videos are awesome!
The word you are looking for for the Megaman books is "Embossed"
Man I would the Final Fantasy 9 one, only one I have is the Okami Complete Works, it's pretty sweet.
Ahh, Parasite Eve! Remember playing it when I was 9 years old or something and I started crying 'cause it was so scary :p Haha, good times.

@SuperLuigiMatthew Fantastic video guys!
I dont have many artbooks at the moment, starting to get quite a nice collection of promotional art cards though. The sort of things you get with pre-orders etc.
A video about the music/soundtracks would be cool to se to:)
10 years old...
Nice video. Hope to see a review of MegaMan 10 soon!
I am now totally convinced to buy Parasite Eve artbook.
That exact sweater RobMan is wearing is for sale at a local store right now...$59.99 though.
Hmm... I was one of the first to post but for some reason youtube is not letting most of my posts go through.
