glad i found your channel...i've been making beats for years but just kind of putting things together with no sense of structure of how it should actually be done and the crazy part about it is that everything you are teaching you can hear in any popular music but i never could figure out why even though my tracks sounded good they would always be missing something and now i know so thanks for sharing your knowledge and being helpful
I dont think you should follow the same structural rules for every song, be creative and experiment so your music stands out from the masses. Look at classical music for instance, hear the diversity, its like a story, and not every story should have the same structure, its boring. Too many pop songs all sound the same, so I would say be adventurous, dare to be different. Discover your own unique structure.
Tyler Parker not all pop music is bad. I think it gets a bad rep from the top charts (and hell even the top charts can have good music thanks to people like Kendrick Lamar) but pop music as a genre isn't all that bad. Kero Kero Bonito and Carly Rae Jepson are both pop and have solid music. Same with people like kanye west who fused pop and hip hop together to make modern classics. If you look at pop at face value you'll see nothing but homogeneity and bland music, but if you dig deeper you'll see that pop isnt all that bad.
My man your example for song structure is so on point and fly on the fly. I am producing everyday hours and hours. It been a moment since being taught the nuts and bolts on this craft. I am Ole Gee from back in the day. Can you dig that if so holler at me
Thank you so much for the clear and illustrated explanation of what hip hop song structure is like!! It really helped that you showed the whole screenshots the song stucture as well as labeled how many bars each section was! I searched for a while on the internet and couldn't find any clear explanations until I founds yours. keep up the great work!
Thanks man! I have a way better idea in what I did wrong on my beat. It was the structure. I just built the song by hearing what I like without structure in the bars from Intro-Verse-Hook
L Ll he is so good at making tutorials that if he made a tutorial about tutorials people who watched the tutorial would steal his job of making tutorials. so basicly tutoriception
This channel has been so helpful for ah begginer producer I feel like this is key thanks again also how do you label your bars intro verse etc on FL 12
dont over think it just do it , and build upon it ! no one's perfect , just be yourself and whoever likes it will like it because its you and not something you have to fake . believe in yourself before any music is made !
Thank you SO MUCH for this! If it wasn't for you I wouldn't know how to make a song! I wrote down EVERYTHING you taught in this video! 4 pages full. Lmao Im serious about music! :) I watch all of your videos and not ONE has not taught me anything. I should make it a habit to bring paper and pencil when im watching you! :) Seriously, The other music RUclipsrs aint teaching me S**t !
Great video. In urban music is a bit different structure, like for example in reggaeton beats. Chorus can be longer bars and the intro as well. 8bars intro, 16bars chorus, 16bars verse, 16bars chorus etc.
Two more things, where ever you right click to add the section name is exactly where it will appear so make sure it’s at the beginning of that section in your song. And lastly, you don’t have to highlight to add the section name, you can just right click. But, it helps to know how long you want that section to be when you do highlight it. I praise the lord for showing me and knew someone else needs to hear it as well. Subscribe to my RUclips channel and follow me on Instagram @manuvmiro
Hello for those who do not have musical education and have limited knowledge, what should be the starting point when building a song (I play deep house - organic house style in venues) I watched many different videos but I could not find a clear idea, do you think there is a rule for this !! For example, you will write chords first, or scales - you will write the melody and work on it etc etc .. I would be glad if you give an idea.
Team: Could someone explain to me why you would prefer splitting out your channels over copying patterns multiple times in preparation for arraignment in the playlist? Since the beginning of time I have always just copied to a new pattern and removed a instrument or two etc. for modifications of that section, but I always see in tutorials people always split out.
I really liked this tutorial! I would like to know, tho, what version of FL studio you were using. In particular, I want to know how you were able to label the song sections (Intro, Verse, Chorus, etc) in the playlist view? I am using Ver. 12.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm making great strides in my beat bc of this channel. I'm thinking about getting the premium information on the site. What would this entail? Also, I'd like to make a request for the list in the style of orchestrated hip hop in the likes of MMG and Justice League. Thanks
Hey Busy, I learned most of my stuff on your page. thanks a lot for all the hard work man. can you post a video on how to tag beats . like how to put my name and album name on a beat using FL, because I can't. When I' m done making a beat I should have be able to plug in all those info and render it. I only can plug in the name of the song. please help me partner.
I'm at 120 bpm... 3 verses of 32 bars, 4 8 bar choruses no intro or outro as of yet... but the song is only like 2 mins long, where am I going wrong? ( I think my choruses might be to short as I haven't made them yet)thanks for the video
Hi! Thanks for all this tutorial, they are helping me so much. I just got one question: when you record a pattern, the notes recorded never fit exactly "on beat", and when trying to move them manually they seem to move differently to those added by "clicking" the notes on the piano roll. Is there any way to make all the notes recorded move and fall exactly on the beat? Sorry if I did not explain myself correctly. I am talking about something like autotune but for the rhythm. Thanks in advance ;)
just out of curiosity, I see that you have tabs to indicate the separate sections, and for a beginner like myself that would be helpful. Can you please let me know how to do that? I'm subscribed to your channel but cant seem to find that anywhere.
Phix Phixation Thank you so much. I produce cheer music and this just allows me to separate the segment for the coaches when we are tweaking their music. Is there anywhere I can go to see more of these hidden secrets. I could not find this anywhere.
uptown qua You do this the exact same way. Go to the dropdown menu in the playlist on the top left, and choose "Time Marker", then you add one. Once you added a time marker, you can then change its position by dragging its left edge to where you like the marker to be. This is what I originally meant to say but was confused with the piano roll.
Jovanna surillo That's the software he used in the video, and no you usually wouldn't need the same for him to tutor you. I use Logic Pro X and basically everything applies.
I'm talking bout like an insert. example fl keys I don't want it on the mixer I deleted it off my pattern an its still on the mixer an I want to remove it
to rename a mixer insert, right click on the insert rename it and delete the name. If you want all the parameters back to normal, right click an empty channel insert and save as..don't save as just left click and drag the empty insert onto the one you want to reset
If anything this is my main issue, not understanding how to create an actual song and finish it lol. I took notes for this one 😊👍
still goin to the basics in 2020 , even tho i saw this in 2014 probably lol
glad i found your channel...i've been making beats for years but just kind of putting things together with no sense of structure of how it should actually be done and the crazy part about it is that everything you are teaching you can hear in any popular music but i never could figure out why even though my tracks sounded good they would always be missing something and now i know so thanks for sharing your knowledge and being helpful
love you man
big ups
I just noticed something. You always want the hook half as long as the verse and you always want the intro half as long as the hook.
True
Not necessarily

+Phix Phixation thts cuz pop music is literally used to brainwash people and remove creativity and individuality from their person. :(
+Phix Phixation i agree but its good to have an understanding of the basic structure
Yes, this is definitely not the only song structure but it is a popular one.
Once you learn the rules, you can learn to break them.

Im trying to make songs for my album but I dont know how to start I keep overthinking what I should do first. :(
dont over think it just do it , and build upon it ! no one's perfect , just be yourself and whoever likes it will like it because its you and not something you have to fake . believe in yourself before any music is made !

Since the beginning of time I have always just copied to a new pattern and removed a instrument or two etc. for modifications of that section, but I always see in tutorials people always split out.
When I do trap beats I usually go from intro straight to hook/chorus, but everything else is pretty much the same.
That's Beautiful Bro. Had me in my Feelings lol
How did u bring that screen up
if i wanted to make my song longer would i just add to the sections?
I really liked this tutorial! I would like to know, tho, what version of FL studio you were using. In particular, I want to know how you were able to label the song sections (Intro, Verse, Chorus, etc) in the playlist view? I am using Ver. 12.
bro, you started to do this with keyboard right? so basically producing a beat requires to work with keyboard ?

What Piano Vst was he using?
how do you place the arrangement in section by section everytime i try it places the track as a whole in

Hi! Thanks for all this tutorial, they are helping me so much. Sorry if I did not explain myself correctly. I am talking about something like autotune but for the rhythm.

you have to click the green magnet with the label "snap to grid" and then choose the right tempo thingy
Thats a sad song if i ever heard one
Hert Niks minor chords ... if you want any a happy song most chords should be major
just out of curiosity, I see that you have tabs to indicate the separate sections, and for a beginner like myself that would be helpful. Can you please let me know how to do that? I'm subscribed to your channel but cant seem to find that anywhere.
From the piano roll menu select time marker, then add one and name it. Right click on a marker gives you options.
