Even though I am very much Jay (I miss when my kids were this little 😭), it is almost as delightful watching Adam be reminded constantly why he DOESN’T want kids as it is watching Jay’s affirmation 🥹❤️
I just realized, has anyone ever mentioned to you guys the hidden Easter eggs in Bluey? Bluey secretly challenges people to find the "weiner dog (long dog) toy" and/or "tennis ball" hidden in each episode. And they are NOT easy. From obvious to downright camouflage. It's great for people who have sat and watched the episodes a million times with their kids.
I thought I was a very well prepared mom until we were driving home from a nice mountain vacation and discovered our 2nd child gets motion sickness if traveling for more than 30mins....😂 so fun trying to clean that up with wipes a spare blanket and hope during a snow storm on the side of the highway.
My kids now put their hand on my arm when I'm speaking to someone and I touch their hand to let them know they wanna talk. It's a really great little way to teach kids not to interrupt. I love it :)
9:17 Fur/Hair only protects so much. As someone who has had a sunburn on their head before, despite having long hair at the time, I can say it from experience.
"I know, how about this plan. I'll do what I want and you don't tell me what to do." That is the best/most real line spoken by a parent to their child in a "kid's" show in the history of ever.🎉❤😂
Pool is one of my favorite episodes! It's so cute, and the lesson is good for kids and adults. Also the shot of Bluey underwater watching her parents be in love is everything that I love about this show!
16:36 you're out of your mind. 16:48 you're out of your mind too. During Shadowlands I realized Bluey is definitely a future DM. She can spend all the time she wants preparing the world for the players.
In the pool episode, it's funny he told them to stay in the shade because they aren't wearing sunscreen, but you can still get a sunburn on a cloudy day. Also the high pitched scream Bingo lets out when the pool cleaner gets near her always makes me laugh.
It IS wonderful to be awoken by playing kids. It’s like, you know how when you wake up you kind of have to remember who you are and what you’re about each time? When you wake up to a playing kid, the first thing that enters your head is that you are a dad of a wonderful kid, and that’s AMAZING.
Fruitbats are quite common in Brisbane where Bluey is set and created. There are parts of Brisbane where you see hundreds of fruit at flying south overhead in the evening. Also many of the backgrounds are modelled on locations within Brisbane too. The busses and bus stop signs look like that here
The marshmallow test mainly flags ADHD and similar neurodivergences. It really messed me up as a parent because the kids that “pass” the marshmallow test correlate to better outcomes as adults and, of course, we want the best for our children. It took me a long time to recognize and accept that my kid was never going to wait for that second marshmallow and trying to “teach that lesson” was just making both of us feel like failures. Do your best, love the kid that you have, and remember that perfect is the enemy of good.
The test also doesn't take into account those in below poverty line situation and dealing with food insecurity, which also gives explanations to those who were "successful" further down the line, since they were better off and had social and financial back ups.
31:12 I totally get this, when I was a kid my mom would threaten to turn the car around when none of us wanted to go to the place we were going. Like it only works as a threat if the kids want to go
In the first season Bluey is 6 and Bingo is 4. They turn 7 and 5 through the series. Bingo goes to a different school than Bluey and it’s implied that Bluey may have some learning differences. Honey, Mackenzie and Chloe are Bluey’s friends from school and environments like the Shops episode seem to be plentiful around her school. Because of the way their school is structured the kids spend a lot of time in independent play and while it seems like they’re just in the woods, I have a hunch that Calypso keeps a pretty close eye on what they’re doing.
Shops is one of my favorite uses of music in the whole show. It's the most awful feeling when the crescendo keeps getting interrupted and then when it FINALLY happens, you're happy that not only is the game going, but so is the song.
Listening to Jay talking about taking 2 kids to the pool - I feel so seen! Suits, towels, shoes, bags, floaties, sunscreen, water bottles, I swear the list goes on and on!! That said, the kids and I LOVE Bluey and I am really enjoying watching your reactions. It is fun to see how Jay (with kids) and Adam (no kids) react differently. LOL. You keep filming and I'll keep coming!
Coming from Brisbane where this show is made and set I am really appreciating how much thought and detail they put into the depiction. I can see where many scenes are set.
The look on both your faces when you thought they were going to get on the bus! That was priceless. I probably had a similar look the first time I watched this episode.
wagon ride is one of my faves, i like that they found a compromise between bluey interrupting and still being able to let her dad know how she was feeling. plus bingo is super cute
Jay being worried about taking 2 kids to the pool by himself at 13:32 made me chuckle. My dad used to take my 3 siblings and I to the pool by himself when we were all really young. I didn't appreciate how much planning it took at the time 😄
I didn't realize how much wagon ride has been adopted into our lives! We say "got to be done" all the time and kiddo does the arm touch when wanting to interrupt (but only sometimes lol)
I liked the lesson in this one that bingo's personality is just better at some things. Different kids have different challenges, but they also have strengths that you might not see if you're inpatient and busy all the time. Chilli and bandit are so good cause they recognise their kids strengths and weaknesses.
Yay!!🎉 So happy for another update. There are so many episodes it's going to take forever to get to everybody's favorites! Also, in the beginning Bluey is six and Bingo is four. They've each had a birthday since then, making them seven and five now.
This means their next batch of episodes gets them to Grannies. (The "Lore" Universe Grows!) It's such an innocent/fun intro to some of the silliest recurring "play" characters these kids dream up. Bus is penultimate Grannies chaos though. 😆
Good on Bandit for that not so subtle reminder of who the parent is. Wasn't harsh while also just stating fact that you talk to and ask for what you want from parents, not dictate.
Bluey has a birthday party at some point where she turns seven. Bingo is four or five. Socks is one, and Muffin is three or four (she also has a birthday off screen).
Lately kids have been having swim lessons and it was oftentimes me taking them alone while mom rested at home. It's so much easier when they're older, but still need the infrastructure and snacks!
By the way… the Blue Mountains really do exist. They are to the west of Sydney. They are called the ‘Blue Mountains’ because of the haze from the many eucalyptus trees which makes them look blue from a distance. They are about a 2hr train journey from Sydney (people commute to work in Sydney from there on a daily basis). The views into the Megalong Valley are just beautiful. There are walking tracks and the world’s steepest railway that takes people down into the valley. The Blue Mountains separate Sydney from Western New South Wales. There are lots of videos on You Tube showing the Blue Mountains, the Scenic Railway & the views into the Megalong Valley.
Another thing to consider, if you guys are watching these on Disney, they are the censored American versions. Some have been re-edited back, but there were one or two banned episodes here. Dad Baby is one that Disney didn't used to carry, but I think it is available elsewhere online if they haven't put it back in rotation. It wasn't even bad, it's just Bandit pretending to give birth to Bingo, and it's hilarious
I had a Choose Your Own Adventure book about shrinking down; I remember one of the bad endings was basically shrinking too far and entering the quantum realm like Michelle Pfeiffer in Ant-Man.
Short haired dogs absolutely can be sunburned, especially on the nose, ears and belly. And hot concert is as painful to dogs as it is for human feet, and hot asphalt is straight-up dangerous. It would make sense in this universe that they would need shoes for hot surfaces. That’s why they actually make shoes for dogs now, for this specific reason. My own dog followed me into the street exactly once for only a few seconds when I went to pick up my son. He immediately u-turned and rushed back to the sidewalk. Poor guy… 😢
I personally don't want kids, so I really relate to Adam with this batch of episodes. But if I ever were to be a dad, I'd be Bandit for real. I'm definitely like Bandit as an uncle, though.
I haven't watched any of these reactions till now and I regret that. I never really thought about how many people who are subscribers that are also parents. I feel like people are underselling the big episodes by saying Wagon Ride is one of them. It’s a cute episode, but don’t be fooled- the big episodes will leg sweep you.
The Pool makes me feel SEEN! My husband is more the fun one, but I'm the organiser who plans things and who packs everything we need, we always have plenty of snacks, spare clothes, activities etc. 😄

Oh really? I really never knew... Time to rewatch the show!!!
Aww Jay, when you said “I am not this type of dad, I bring all the things, I’m prepared…” I was just thinking “oh you sweet summer child” 🥹❤️
You always think you're prepared, until you're not 😅 and it's always something you never think will happen.

In regards to the sunblock thing, Blue heelers are short haired dogs and can potentially get sunburn with too much sun.
Also in australia you are never gonna hear anyone suggest you dont put sunscreen on.
9:17 Fur/Hair only protects so much. As someone who has had a sunburn on their head before, despite having long hair at the time, I can say it from experience.
Adam, we all know Bluey would be the DM with her level of prep.
Lol if she wasn't the DM, she'd sure be one annoying backseat-DM player!
"I know, how about this plan. I'll do what I want and you don't tell me what to do."

Agreed ☺ That bit at the end healed the kid in my heart that never saw her parents be affectionate to eachother (and later divorced) ♥
I love because as the organiser in the family it made me feel seen and validated. I still tell me kids “boring things are still important “
Also, I rate this reaction 3/3 containers of body safe glue, since that was the only graphic for each rating 😂
editing error due to the demand for more bluey NOW :)
16:36 you're out of your mind. 16:48 you're out of your mind too. During Shadowlands I realized Bluey is definitely a future DM. She can spend all the time she wants preparing the world for the players.
Either a forever dm player or the wholesome helpful variant of a rules lawyer.
i think that feeling @ 19:37 is how every parent feels after their kids changes the game and their mind 10000 times in 10 seconds lol
In the pool episode, it's funny he told them to stay in the shade because they aren't wearing sunscreen, but you can still get a sunburn on a cloudy day. Also the high pitched scream Bingo lets out when the pool cleaner gets near her always makes me laugh.
