  • Today’s marches followed nationwide protests on Friday night immediately after the video of police beating Tyre Nichols was released. In Memphis, demonstrators brought traffic to a standstill on Interstate 55 for hours as they continued to demand action and accountability. Memphis police announced it would permanently deactivate the Scorpion unit. The Shelby County sheriff also announced two deputies “have been relieved of duty,” pending an internal investigation based on their actions when they arrived at the scene with Nichols.

Peaceful rt now but I think it is still forming as many in shock still. When the shock turns to rage….cops deserve whatever happens. They didn’t stop or learn with Rodney King. They did not stop with George Floyd and highly unlikely it will stop after Tyre Nichols.Sad but police nowadays are just another gang with guns running their own agendas. I was a member of a cop-owned, combat training center in Chicago (1994).
During a class/training session, we were all exercising our strong, rooted stances, when the 'Chief Instructor,
(Mr. Bogdan) walked up behind me and randomly kicked my leg out from under me. I fell onto my back.
As the other fighters stood by looking on, Bogdan stood over me in silence, and glared down at me.
Bo's attack on me was not a part of the training and he didn't assault anyone else there.
Fast forward 22 years (2016). Bogdan is now a veteran police officer/Instructor with the Chicago PD (19 years).
Within his first 6 months of hire, Bogdan began to receive documented complaints of his use of force on the job.
But Bogdan was not content to vent his brutality ONLY upon the members of the public.
In August of 2016, Bogdan was instructing a class of new Chicago PD recruits. During this session, Bogdan demonstrated a move on a recruit; an "arm bar" hold, using a steel baton. Upon releasing the recruit, Bogdan asked him, "Did that hurt?" The recruit replied, "No." Then Bogdan tapped the recruit on his chest with the baton and said, "Well that's not good."
Moments later, Bogdan approached this same recruit again- aggressively, and struck the recruit on the left side of his head with the steel baton. Upon impact, the recruit's vision went out briefly. He began bleeding, became faint, and fell. This recruit was rushed to the emergency room and received stiches. Diagnosed with a concussion, he was medically unable to resume his police training for several weeks.
Records show that this cop has 22 abuse/misconduct complaints against him, (84% higher than other CPD cops).
And the Chicago PD has NOT held Bogdan accountable for ANY of these complaints; ZERO percent.

I think the solution should be that their body cameras be activated at all times regardless of whether they are making contact with anyone.if you haven't noticed some officers like to incriminate themselves by carelessly committing an act of the illegal violence towards a citizen and they do it on the camera and don't even care their video in their self committing a crime as a law enforcement officer
