    So if your watching this video and wanting to change it on a MK2 Focus then its an absolute nightmare of a job. So heres some advice when you eventually get the pedal out, put the new slave cylinder through the bulkhead first then fit the pedal. Once you get the cylinder into the pedal you can use a flat blade screwdriver on one of the lips to tap it round into position. 4 hours i tried putting the pedal back in with the cylinder attatched and got nowhere.

      Didn't know it was so different on a mk2 to a mk3. Thanks for the advice.

    Blimey Mike that was crap of a job no wonder you didn’t look to happy about it Especially having to do it again ! Nicely done though mate glad it worked out 👍i bought myself a ford streetka on the weekend with a years mot and only 65k I took it for a spin the only thing wrong with it is it needs a heater valve as i can’t turn it off £11 and a motor in the passenger door for the central locking there about £20 ish it’s fab I love it 🤣 I like these sort of vids mate they teach me stuff 👍

    Hello , amazing video! My focus is a petrol st line version and it gets stuck half way but is intermittent! But only happens , when clutch is in waiting for a gap in traffic, and on hill starts!
    With one occasion which it stuck to floor! Which is scary😂
    So this video now has gave me confidence on what’s faulty!
    Main question is, what goes wrong with the cylinder to stop the pedal coming up all the way?

    • @mike_themechanic
      @mike_themechanic  5 месяцев назад +1

      It's probably leaking air into the pipes and thats why it doesn't come back up. The only tricky part is getting to the bolts on the bulk head everything else is fairly straightforward. Give it a go and I'm sure you'll get it sorted.

    Ended up doing this, undoing the 4th nut and putting the pedal back was almost impossible had to put the clutch master cylinder in first then thread it through the pedal hole and attach it that way, other then that would of been stright forward, volvo v50 1.6

    • @mike_themechanic

      What was in the way that stopped it going back?

    • @WarmoProductions
      @WarmoProductions 5 месяцев назад

      Not sure the name but it's connected with steering wheel and also a bar that looks to go across from one side of the car to at least the centre, had to squeeze my hand up side of pedal to get to the top nut, completely bruised and grazed my hand and wrist now but I wasn't gonna pull part the fhe whole car to get to it lol well worth it.

    If the problem came back that quickly with a new part installed, then it probably wasn't that part's fault. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes back again.
    Apparently people had both cylinders and the clutch itself replaced and the problem still returned.
    There has to be something different.

      Strange. The only time you need to be neer the brakes in this job is when your disconnecting the pipes that are underneath the abs pump (on a LHD it is anyway)

    Hi, my clutch pedal is sticking every now and then when I change gear, Ford focus 1.5tdci- got a guy coming to change the master cylinder. But I popped into a garage and he said it’s the slave cylinder and would cost about £800 what u relokon? Also Thers no leaking and gears and clutch seem fine.

    • @mike_themechanic
      @mike_themechanic  3 месяца назад

      Well the master cylinder is easier and cheaper to change so that's why I changed mine in that order

      @RichardSmith-jm7ib 3 месяца назад

      The lad that’s changing the master cylinder is adiimant that’s the issue. I just don’t know why the garage would say it’s the salve cylinder straight away without even looking at the car. 🥺

    • @RichardSmith-jm7ib

    • @mike_themechanic
      @mike_themechanic  3 месяца назад +1

      @@RichardSmith-jm7ib I'd say probably not very likely to be honest. If you do do the slave cylinder you should do the clutch and flywheel at the same time as I did. I know the master cylinder is a common problem so I would have said that first as well.

      Luke or sachs are probably the ones to go for as they make the orignal parts for Ford (ford don't make their own parts)
