    Thank you for all you do. I have a question, if I may. I just turned 30, and after a 10 year career in sales, I want to make a career change. Seriously considering going to school, and doing ROTC. I would graduate at 33 or 34. Am I in over my head, or would you encourage something like this? My father was enlisted AF for 4 years, and I've always wanted to serve in the Air Force, but got sucked into sales and got distracted.
    What do you think? Am I "too old"? I know the cut off officially is 39. But wanted to get your 2 cents.
    Thank you!

    I appreciate the great content y’all thank you. I recently heard about the Air Force GLP (Graduate Law Program). 2 years of AFROTC -> guaranteed position as a JAG upon graduation, Bar Passage, and licensure. Do you gentlemen know anyone who has completed the program? There is not much information online about it.

    Quite late comment here. How much would you say you struggled balancing AFROTC and Mechanical Engineering? I’m studying the same thing, and am considering joining my junior. Though there is a 3 year minimum, I’m a year behind on classes, so it shouldn’t be a problem with that.

    • @airforceofficerpodcast
      @airforceofficerpodcast  9 месяцев назад +1

      didn’t struggle any more or less than my peers. yes it’s extra, but AFROTC teaches you discipline and to stay focused. or at least that’s the goal…YMMV.

    Hello! Thank you for the information; it is very helpful. In the AFROTC contract, upon completion, is it possible to join the Reserves or National Guard? Otherwise, is it mandatory to serve active duty?

    • @airforceofficerpodcast
      @airforceofficerpodcast  2 месяца назад

      Regular Air Force (aka Active Duty) is the default but you can commission straight into the Guard or Reserve if they have a spot for you. you’ll need to contact the unit directly and ask if they have an opening and are willing to hold it for you until you have completed your training.

    • @airforceofficerpodcast
      @airforceofficerpodcast  2 года назад +3

      like most things in the military, it depends.
      AFROTC is designed to take 4 years to complete, with a 3 year minimum for cadets who do not have significant prior military experience. those who do the 3 year program have to double up on their AFROTC coursework during their single GMC year. for those who do have significant prior military experience, they may qualify for GMC/POC Accreditation IAW AFROTCI para. 3.15 and Table 3.3. this is how a prior enlisted member can complete AFROTC in 2 years.
      in only extremely rare circumstances will Region/CC’s allow for cadets to complete the program in less than 2 years and the burden belongs to the cadet and their cadre to prove that doing so is in the best interest of the Air Force.

    • @grumpy5728
      @grumpy5728 2 года назад +1

      As long as you can remain a full-time student for the entire duration of your AFROTC career, you'll be okay. Although, it would be safe to run it by with your local detachment's cadre.

    I was talking to one of the school that offered AFROTC program. If I understood correctly is that the 4 year AFROTC program consist of freshman and sophomore year which is the GMC portion and the 3rd and 4th year is the POC portion? is that correct? Also in order to make it to 3rd and 4th year of the program , its competitive and if not selected , that means the cadets will not finish the 4 year program and go on to become Air Force officer? Please help me understand. I'm a little confuse.

      yes, you can complete AFROTC in 3 years. you can be an AS250 and take the 100 and 200 level courses at the same time. if you have significant military experience (prior enlisted, attended a Service academy, etc.) you may be approved to complete the program in 2 years.

    My question is since air force and space force pretty much come from the same thing does this mean that there are more scholarships or slots to fill in for the coming years? I am thinking of joining as cyber officer and they both offer it. I will be going for my masters and second degree in cyber/CS. My first degree is business with a GPA of 3.94, am I competitive enough if I do AAS and do other things ? I am just asking for advice on things to better get a slot to become a POC

    • @airforceofficerpodcast
      @airforceofficerpodcast  Год назад

      the amount of scholarships available is tied directly to the recruitment and retention environment, which ebbs and flows. best way to get selected for POC is to not suck at school or at being a cadet. and then attend Field Training.
