She did not miss a beat. Astonishing composure and professionalism. Verbally she has the deft touch of a matron.

There truly is nothing like a Dame, especially the gigastar, the magnificent Edna.

I just watched this entire interview. I was shocked because it felt like only 5 minutes has gone by.

The true talent of Edna is her ability with language because she’s extremely articulate and she emphasised certain words which puncture and punctuate her language. It’s the way she enunciates those words and twists and stretches those vowels that make us laugh
      - that wordplay is what brings her dialogue to life.

Barry Humphries is a genius. He took the things he disliked the most and turned them into his most valuable and attractive assets

This particular performance seems to be very much modelled on Mrs Thatcher's mannerisms!

What's funny is that Dame Edna IS JUST FUNNY, but the Americans are TRYING TO BE FUNNY. So many of her quips go over their heads. She is taking the mickey out of every person in every moment. But because they think (in nervousness) that one should reply with witty repartee, the sharpness of her comments is often lost in the moment. And, LMAO, why is a hair stylist faffing with the WIG of a female impersonator just before going on camera?!? ... as if it matters! The crew and the hosts and other folks are so caught up in their real life roles they are sucked into the very satire she embodies. Unless of course, the whole episode is a comedic set up by Humphries to lampoon stardom in itself -- which she achieves brilliantly at other people's expense.
