This is the second of two demos of the of the new 1047 "Colin" multimode filter/resonator. In this video, I'm focused on using the 1047 as a filter in different modes - Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass, Notch. I use both Noise and a Sawtooth waveform.

Sounds great. Best $100 filter out there.

I saw another video in which the labelling had already partially come off. Does the module have a quality problem in this respect?

      Not in my experience.

Nice demo. Where is that buzzing coming from at 7:00 if your just putting a saw wave in?

Thx @WVO 2M . The buzz you hear at 7:00 is the upper harmonics bleeding through as you crossfade between Lowpass and Highpass outputs. That''s what you get at the "Notch" output. at full clockwise of the "NOTCH freq" knob, the "Notch" output is the same as the Lowpass output. at full counterclockwise , it's the same as the Highpass. at dead center, you have the traditional "notch" filter response.

    How does it do drums?

    • @ozhalljr

If you turn up the resonance on a 4 pole low pass filter (e.g. Moog Ladder filter), the filter will often oscillate. The tone that it creates is a very pure sine wave. If you connect an envelope to the cuttoff frequency (i.e. control pitch), you can get the classic 80's electronic tom sound. Make it low frequency and you have a bass drum. Add noise for a snare sound. The envelope is Attack: fastest setting; Decay: set to taste for how fast the pitch falls; Sustain: minimum; Release: same as Decay.
Note that while the 1047 does not oscillate at max resonance (that's one of the special things about it), you can still get a tone if you also put the fast envelope into the audio input, to "excite" the filter. It will produce a tone for a short period of time.

Is it good for drums too?
