Does it have to be a Gmail account, and if so why. Why do you have to invite them to add them. We didn't use to have this restriction with NEST as best as I recall and I don't particularly like this requirement.

No, it’s a major fault in the offered service. It’s ridiculous that others have full control turning cameras on and off as they please. Nest, get your act together. Allow admin and user permissions it’s 2022 ffs
I recently added my girlfriend as a member to my Google Home, so she could control the lights in the house. I don't remember activating this option, but now we are sharing the same contact list. Somehow, Google merged our 2 contact lists and we both have access to it now. How can we keep our contacts separated even though we are part of the Google Home ?
@@syedibrahim6991 turns out, only I had her contact list merged to mine. Hers was fine. I just deleted my list and loaded a backup I had from a few days earlier. Then I excluded her from the house and added her again and now everything is fine...

Does this work with the Google NEST Thermostat?
It does for ours, I have the Nest Thermostat E setup in the Nest app, and it's inside the Google Home app, i can control it with Google Assistant too.
