    *Things 3 was great, but Todoist just beats it for me* What do you think?
    Do you rate Todoist over Things 3 or Things 3 over Todoist, we'd love to hear!

      I have to be able to have attached files. No ability to do that with Things 3

    Thanks. I am going the other way. I have Todist premium but am moving to Things 3. There is just something about this application that makes me want to use it daily if that makes sense. The structure of it is simple yet has many great tools as you mentioned. When I view Todoist I do not find it inviting no matter how I set it up. For my needs the only limitation Things 3 has is non cross platform. Fine for me at home since I am an Apple guy but work is Windows. Will not be an issue. Now I just need to decide where I will put my single tasks that do not fit into a job or area I have setup. I like the idea of having an "Area" called Single Tasks so I will probably go with that.

    I used Todoist premium for about two years. Things I liked:
    1-Ability to create Sub-lists/ Projects was good.
    2-Natural language task entry
    Things I did not like.
    1-Layout - Wasted whitepsace.
    2-Limited ability to group tasks.
    3- Drag and drop was finicky.
    Checked out the new RTM (used it years ago when it first came out).
    In my opinion it does everything Todoist does, with the exception of sublists.
    Besides the filtering and ordering capabilties that match Todoist, it also allows you to group your lists by tags, due dates (+10 more elements). I can create a view that shows me Open tasks within a project (list), grouped by the resource (tag), and sorted by due date. I tried getting a similar view when I used Todoist premium, but the grouping is limited to defaults (due date or lists).
    The app is easy, does what I need (postpone, complete, assign tags, move between lists, etc).
    What I don't like - printing my list with a cow logo at the top.

    Thanks for this video. I'm using TickTick with GTD. It is amazing, having been a TODOIST user for years. Lots more functionality than TODOIST. One think I love - when I complete a task - it is NOT removed like TODOIST to a totally separate completed page. Instead it stays on the page in a completed section so that you can see what progress you are making rather than just a list of remaining tasks. This motivates you to continue. Also reminds you you have done something rather than "did I do that? i better check the completed page in todoist". Another feature is that you can have four levels of subtasks (most of us wont need more than that) and each can be finely tuned. It's amazing. Can add attachments. One thing I don't think it can do that TODOIST does is to automatically generate tasts from your email program. But in honesty - I haven't checked it out properly. Leave comments below if you have used TickTick and what you think. Oh, it colour codes items of higher priority and I love that. And you can select two tags not just one. So, say today I'm not feeling energetic, i could select "low energy" + "website work" - so that I get something done, no matter how small.

    • @bradford-vts
      @bradford-vts 3 года назад

      Oh and you can add time stamps, comments, just so much more, drag around things. archive and unarchive.

    • @bradford-vts
      @bradford-vts 3 года назад

      Oh and I really think Keep Productive - that you would love it more than TODOIST. It's inexpensive and I love the way it really separates out the subtasks unlike todoist which uses the same bullet point as the parent header and indents only ever so slightly.
      the delineation with TickTick is very clear. OMG I better stop. I just cannot stop raving about TickTick and i declare I have NO affiliation with them.

    @arnaud5716 5 лет назад +2

    TickTick is definitely the best to-do list app out there. It has absolutely everything, it's beyond expectation, really. A mix between Things3 and Todoist but with extra amazing features! I'm not working for them by the way, i just realise some apps don't benefit from big marketing and deserve much more attention. I have tried every apps and this one is the best by far !

    I think the biggest impact on your choice was your need to schedule every task in your day and because you are so addicted to Todoist since you have been using the app for so many years. I'm trying to move from Todoist to Things because I want a more pure approach to GTD. I don't like to schedule tasks, I love to add labels(context) and pick tasks from my list. When I'm working, new tasks appear at any time and I need to adapt. Scheduling only makes me stress more and Todoist is very hard with overdue (RED EVERYWHERE), Things are not. Furthermore, I use my iPhone a lot and the Todoist iOS app is not as intuitive as the web version, I really don't like it. Things mobile app is simple, intuitive and beautiful. I hope Todoist may improve their mobile app someday.

      Joshua D. Appreciate you weren’t asking me but I also work from home, primarily via VPN on multiple networks. Context names have been rendered generic (to protect the innocent/or guilty?) but the contexts work pretty well for me as follows:
      WORK context folder
      Company1 network (Work/Home)
      Company2 network/laptop
      At site location1
      At site location2

      Ivo- I would be interested in knowing how you use the Things App if you don’t use scheduled tasks. How do you choose what you will do for the day, etc? What about priorities? I know Todoist has this but Things does not. Was just wondering how your daily routine is with your setup. Thanks!

    After using Wunderlist for years and hearing that they are closing it down, I decided to look for something new. I had Things on my iPhone for a few years but it lacked some features I wanted. Moved to 2Do, which I really like but was still looking, then moved to ToDoist as it had all the features I wanted but the spacing of the entries, visually are too space as I want a more compact view. . Then Things 3 came out and I upgraded the IPhone version and purchased the iPad version. Being a Mac and PC user does really does not make Things an option, especially with no web access as well. Then forking out more money for the Mac version just tipped it over. Todoist and 2Do and many others cover all platforms and in today’s world this is a must. My work phone is an Android. If Wunderlist continues, I may go back.

    I would like to give you one advise if you want to improve your video. Please check the information before making the video. I’m not sure about your workflow, if you have a script or not, but I found very annoying that in most of your videos, when talking about the pricing, features, or comparing an app with another one, you always say “I’ve to check”, “I will add this in the note”, ... It’s not a rant. I just give you a honest feedback.
    I tried Things 3 too, and I found it great. But at the end of the day, I still prefer using Todoist. Todoist also integrate better with other services. For example, I like getting a list of my completed tasks in a Google Sheet file.

    How can anyone be productive changing tools all the time? Not accusing you Francesco, just see a lot of churn among group members. Maybe it’s just an incorrect impression I’ve formed

    • @toolfinderhq
      @toolfinderhq  6 лет назад +8

      100% agree that people shouldn't change as part of a regular basis, but more as a life situation.
      Like this change, was the first change in 5 years.
      I believe a lot of the community is still finding their ideal resource, so in this temporary period, you are more likely to be open.
      I don't endorse spending too much time exploring, at all. But as you can imagine, it happens and people have reasons.
      Good topic point Chris, maybe a video on this soon! "How often should you change apps"
      Francesco.

    Things 3 does not work for me as well; there was too much hype about this application that I was convinced to try it but I saw absolutelly no reason to switch from Todoist. Wunderlist is an excellent app, a serious contender to Todoist; unfortunatelly it's replacement by Microsoft is a permanent work-in-progress app.

    Thanks for the review... I had to bail partway through because the music track in the background was driving me nuts. Vocals! I have PTSD and have trouble sometimes with focus and concentration. I'm also a professional musician/singer, so ANY music makes my musician radar antennae go up. I wouldn't have minded instrumental BG so much, but vocals? No can do., But that's just me. Thanks anyway...

    What do you think about 2do?

    • @toolfinderhq
      @toolfinderhq  6 лет назад

      Hey Ludovic,
      2Do is strong. It's more GTD orientated!
      Much more advanced than the likes of Todoist and even Things 3. It's closer to being an OmniFocus 3 competitor.
      Francesco.

    I recently switched to iOS been on MacOS forever but Android for 8+ years so I was stuck only using cross platform options. But now I’ve been on iOS for over a month now and finally tried some of the ios/Mac OS exclusive todo apps like things 3, OmniFocus, 2Do, Nirvana ect but keep finding myself coming back to Todoist despite me wishing Todoist having some features of these other apps. I will stage app I liked a lot that I thought I wouldn’t was Omnifocus. Granted the UI feels a bit dated but even then it just felt more in like with Todoist in terms of capabilities.
