I love the end result, it reminds me of when I was a kid and obsessed with Scalextric tracks and magazines (obviously no warships in them though). Great vid as always :)
Ah 2021 can finally get started on the right foot. Going to have to remember that waterfall technique with making it on the clear plastic wrap. Really like the way this turned out.
Showing the problem is useful, but even better is that you showed possible solutions. That's the solid gold right there. My oldest started getting into fine scale modeling in 2020 by Zooming with my dad, and videos like these are a huge help when something doesn't turn out the way you planned. It helps me with my stuff, and helps me help him if he's frustrated by some unexpected challenge. Thank you!
Really excellent diorama. I liked the bow waves. Because of experience, adding wakes to the sterns of the ships would enhance realism. Wakes usually occur before large bow waves. Normal viewers would not know this. Again I thought everything looked really good..
Great diorama, the end result was excellent! Loved Sucky Mcsuck! Ha ha! I think this would have looked cool with ships breaking through ice in a wintery diorama.
I've never been satisfied with clump foliage in Warhammer scale, but at this scale that looks fantastic! Excellent work, I may have to shamelessly copy this when I get my hands on some ships.
@@DarkMatterWorkshop I've always had a fondness for the silly American armored paddlewheels, but I don't think there's any wrong choices, they all look great.
Really nice build. Even with the setback, you aced it, in the end. I usually make my rocks with the crumpled foil technique. I've got some liquid latex; I need to get around to casting some rocks. I can see how the... body paint ;) might also work, but don';t, currently, have any XD
Why does every crafter on the web think of a few bubbles in the water as a curse? Come on guys, it's a river, or a lake, or a sea. It has water in it and it is constantly swirling. IT IS SUPPOSED to create some bubbles. What's the big deal with them anyway? After all, if you don't like them you can always cover them up while creating the waves. Or even by placing a ship on top of them. No big deal. Stop worrying about them. I enjoyed your craft Gert, and would have enjoyed it the same, even if it had bubbles. i love your humour by the way. Keep up and stay safe.
I can see you screaming at the screen, shaking your head 😃 Of course it’s not a big deal and i solved the ‘problem’ exactly like you suggested. RUclipsrs like to emphasize these kinds of stuff because a) failure is compelling And b) we get to push an important theme for (especially new) crafters which is to embrace problems and go with the flow. Thanks for watching !
Dude, I would love to get into that game. I love Warcraddle's WWX game. Also a Belgian based wargamer, but there are very few players of Dystopian wars in my area yet... :(
@@DarkMatterWorkshop interesting news for your flocking. There's a guy in Camden town London who sells flocking by the same names on the street. Hahaha.
@@DarkMatterWorkshop I sadly never had the buildings and lost out big time on the Kickstarter...but I have been eyeing the Brigade Models buildings for some island installations. I think my group and myself will try out the new rules but we have all our lists and models of old so probably gonna stick with 2.5.

Very nice. Amazing.. I love modeling landscape... Sorry my Englisch I am from Switzerland.. I have subscribe your Chanel. Greetings from Switzerland. Alex 😊😊👍👍🇨🇭
Just found you. Love what you're doing. But, did you say you covered the rock in "sex paint"? That's a brand of liquid latex I'm not familiar with. I'm gonna make a Febreeze starship this weekend.
Warm resin means the reaction goes faster. 30°C maybe, 60°C no....NO! Stir and mix with a WIDER piece of metal or wood ( I think its called spattle), not with a toothpick!!!! Then you scrape around the wall, and bottom of your pot. To make sure there is no component A sticking there not reacting. Mixing time is 5-6 min for EP. And you can shake it when its poured or put on a vibrator (I bet your wife has one gnihihi :> ) that way air that is trapped is able to rise and you can blowtorch it. BUT......you are using foam. I would rather buy a pressure/vacuum chamber. Your foam might deform and warp when getting hit by a flame.
@@DarkMatterWorkshop Uncured resin will cause cracks or milky areas. The bubbles come from the foam-ground I guess. Latex (or similar) coat as a first barrier should work. Or PVA with dust as "river bed".
Love the weed joke. Always think the same when I look at the clump foliage. :D
It’s the healing of tha nation !

After that intro I feared something far more catastrophic, I'm glad it was something solvable, great build!

Came out pretty damned good despite the lack of Modpodge. Nice gash by the way.
Never used it before, might have come in handy for sealing the xps....
😉
Ps the gash was work related, a workshop filled with sharp knives yet... 🤔
The deadpan delivery of sex paint was exceptional.
Thanks !

Thanks ! Great idea too !
Nice save! It turned out fantastic.
Thank you very much! Never surrender !
That's a wonderful diorama and an entertaining video!
Thank you !
Maybe some extra air coming out of the foam with the weight of the resin. Looks amazing in the end though!
It might have, lessons learned!
Great work as always, Gert. Love the little waves and foam
Thanks mate !
Fantastic work! The groundwork and river look very realistic. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank’s for watching!
Thank you for sharing your mistakes! This makes me feel less miserable and more normal when I f-up my projects.
No problem! For each mistake a solution, it’s only crafting 😉

The body paint IS liquid latex, it’s just Guys dirty mind making the connection 😉

The resin was 35c tops. I doubt temp. Or thorough mixing was the issue.
