- Here's how to change the Fuel Pressure Regulator on you 328i, 335i, or 335is, they're all the same. The removal tool has always been suggested to me but it's really not needed. Hope this video helps.

Great instructional video! After doing the valve cover gaskets on my own I was terrified to tackle the fuel pump until I saw this. Thank you.
Man, I really appreciate that, I'm just happy I'm actually helping people.
I was hoping you could help me out with 1 more thing man. The car I'm working on is a 2011 328i. It only has 1 unit on the passenger side under the back seat with (1) 6 pin electrical connection. When the owner ordered the replacement pump they sent her the pump and the sending unit and both have (2) 2 pin connections. Did she receive the wrong parts or is there some type of adapter we need to get? I can't find anything online. Thanks again.
How hard would a valve cover be on someone that has no experience with cars?
@@hectorespinoza7641 definitely not easy but it’s possible I’ve “changed” an alternator before but my landlord who works on cars was there as a instructor. Once you start it’s not as scary as it seems, just find a very good instructional video and try it yourself. Also besides unscrewing things you can’t mess up anything too important on your way to replace the vcg unless you drop a wrench or screw into your engine & don’t or can’t get it out. The most difficult part (for a beginner) will probably be removing the engine cover.
I usually forget my process when putting things back together so just take photos/short vids of each thing you remove before taking it off. That helped me.
Steps are practically the similar for 128i. I appreciate it. 🐐🤝
No problem 👍
Bruh people straight sleeping on this video This is about to save me a ton of money and keep my bills afloat. Good work guys!
Much appreciated, more to come.
Remember guys is better to do this on an almost empty tank
Absolutely.
I'm about to tackle this job myself... 07 E90 N54... has 202K miles and FPR is leaking at the top. Advise for all, it'll be easier to drain (or drive off) as much gas as you can to lesson the mess w/ gas getting on the way of the job. Great job w/ the video editing and such...
Thanks and thank you for the input, you're right. I forgot to mention that. Good luck on that FPR job.
Great video! Gotta do my sending unit tomorrow
Nice intro 👍🏾
Much appreciated, fiver came in clutch.
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME HOW TO DISCONNECT THAT PESKY FUEL LINE!!!! jeez. Every video I’ve watched until now assume I work on fuel lines daily or something.
I'm glad I could help, let me know if you need any other videos specific.
Great video doing mine today thanks for the perfect advice 💪🏼
No problem 👍
Thanks for the Great Video!! One question - how would you prime the fuel pump?
I normally just turn the key to ignition like 3 times and then try to start it.
@@n54andmore56 Thank you!
Hey did you release the pressure on the fuel line before removing it I know gas sprayed everywhere its a mess doin this job if you dont
Normally you want the car to be sitting for a bit so the pressure can dissipate but he had just driven over.
I'm pretty sure you didn't show what the fuel pressure regulator looks like? And filter?
you skip to the other side right away,
Also I saw another video on someone else's channel and they said when your fuel pressure regulator goes bad you need to replace the whole fuel tank is that true or false
So, the reason we changed his was because of the gauge so he just wanted to change the whole unit.
I got this problem cuz my gas is leaking from the bottom on my driver back seat i gotta order that fuel pump you installed
Definitely gotta get that changed.
hey hope you’re doing well, i have a 2007 bmw 335i and my gas gauge fluctuates if i’m driving fast and i was recommended to do this (your video) does that sound right to you?
Watched your video and it helped, even made one so I can remember the process, but when I fill up it only reads 1/2 or 3/4 sometimes, any fix for that?
Could be the cluster.
@@n54andmore56 I’m thinking the same, thanks!
Aloha & Mahaloz from Hawai’i !!! I gotta do this one soon. Did u notice better gas mileage at all? My 08 335i sux soo much gas now!
Love seeing viewers from all over, appreciate you. He said he noticed a slight change but not much.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
What do you do to the level i saw you removed the square and i cannot see if you change the position of that part???
Hello, I just try to remove the driver side fuel filter. But when I remove the black fuel pipe, the fuel came out and it didn't stop like you have. (01:52 in video)
will the fuel come out just temporarily? I just stop in case of huge amount fuel leaking.
You have to let the car sit for a bit or disconnect the negative terminal so the full pump doesn't prime.
Hey Man. Hope ur doing well.. i just installed my fuel filter regulator before 3 hours and my car was on low fuel i did the job all after that i get my car to the gas station and fill it up to the max and then i see that my fuel regulator is on the middle 😢 and I didn’t know what could be the problem!! Any Advice?
Also in 6:00 -6:20 in the video what did you do right there I didn’t understand also about the wires ??
Hi! How are you? I have some questions about my n54 135i fuel system. My car can not start when warm, it only start when the car completely cold down and it would shut down around 5 mins then will not start again. The no.70 fuse kept blowing every time it shut down, I have checked the fuel pump and ekpm are good, but I find out the ekpm overheating every time after the no.70 fuse broken. I have a fuel it stage 1 secondary fuel pump on it, I’m cannot find out where the problem is. Could you please give me some suggestions for it? Thank you so much!
You ever figured that out?
E90 start sometimes hard start but fuel pressure is lol like it's blocking
Thanks!
No problem!
Thanks 🙏
No problem
There is plastic on the top, meddle of the tank. Do the sending unit lige go through there? I have an awful hiccup😅
It goes through the top of the tank on the inside.
It connects to the pump on the passenger side.
Good video!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hello, my 328i fuel gauge was not working correctly, i took it to the shop and they replaced the fuel pump, 30min into driving my check engine light comes on and my fuel gauge is still not reading correctly. What could this be?
Might be a defective part or connected wrong, I would just bring it back to them.
Do all 3 hoses connect to fuel pump some how?
Yes, all 3 go to the other side. I think I said it right before pulling out the sending unit. If not lmk.
Is this the reason why my bmw shuts off and says fuel supply message?
Very well could be it.
mine is leaking from drivers side only so i only need to do that side yea not both sides like U? Idk
So, if you can get the lines of then only 1 side is needed but I'm pretty sure it extends to the other side.
My hoses in my sending unit almost feel tight like smt is holding them or something what should i do again the tank behind driver side sending unit please let me know
Sorry been super busy. Did you figure it out?
@@n54andmore56 i got it figured out brother thank you
What symptoms did you have when the FPR goes bad ? Thanks
Well this 1 wasn't actually bad. It was cracked and leaking under the seat.
If you’re replacing the driver side only, you have to take out the passenger too?
Yeah because it's connected.
@@n54andmore56 the driver side pump has the hoses that connect to the pump on passenger? or other way around?
@@SoundChemist that's correct.
@@n54andmore56 great ty sir
@@n54andmore56 i havnt drove car 3 days, i had all doors open, but i finished the pump, went to start motor and lights went dim no start lol
Sup bro I have a problem getting connection after I set it up
What do you mean connection?
Hi I just changed out my fuel filter and now my gas gauge don't work and gas light is it has no reading what so ever would you be able to help
Did you disconnect any wires during the process?
I will take it out and look to see
Checked all wires everything is connected
Which filter was it?
Everything was all good up until the point where you did not show what lines for the regulator to pull out and connect...
Starting at around 3:00 minutes, I literally said exactly what to disconnect.
@@n54andmore56 I meant the reconnect portion. as I said everything else is good. the reconnect portion is where I got confused but I figured it out that was my first run. 👍
Well that's on me then, I say to myself "however it comes off, it should go back on the same way" but I could be more detailed. I just try not to make the videos too long.
Next time do it as your tank is empty 😂👌
I should have told him that but I completely forgot lol.
I NEED HELP
Sorry for the late reply. What's up?
Why did you have to replace this?
It was leaking under the seat.
hey hope you’re doing well, i have a 2007 bmw 335i and my gas gauge fluctuates if i’m driving fast and i was recommended to do this (your video) does that sound right to you?
Yeah that sounds right to me, that first before you mess with the cluster.
