Thank you so much for this! I was getting REALLY frustrated after many failed attempts to record a smooth video, but your guide allowed me to do just that! Also, for some reason, the setting for adjusting b-frames didn't show up until I changed my encoder from x264 to QuickSync H.264 (I don't have a NVIDIA card), then once it actually allowed me to adjust the b-frames, changing those from 3 to 2 was, like, the one change I made that actually seemed to help in any substantial way. In fact, once I adjusted the b-frames, the lag pretty much vanished. So thanks for the guide! I appreciate it!

hi! i have a windos 10 pc ( dik how to check the other conponents, ive had it for 4 years) and when i play the game, its a lil laggy since my computer is, but when icheck the gameplay its barely seeable. how do i fix this?

Don't they always say to not mix a Game Capture and Display Capture source in the same OBS Scene?
when i go to output settings and i turned it on advanced in the streaming tab it dosent have the same options like you do

I watched the 2020 version of this and it really helped a lot, I just turned the output (scaled) resolution from 1080p to 720p so thanks man.

I started again to stream this week. I have a 2080ti, 32GB RAM 3200hz, I play in 2k and I want to stream in 1080p. It works. But I get a lot of lag when I watch the stream and the same when I reccord but the actual gameplay is very very fluid like 100+fps... I'm not sure what can cause that :/ I can't seem to find a way to make my streams and reccords smooth! There's some kind of fps loss somewhere. I'm not sure if I explain it right but if anyone could help that'd be very appreciated!

on my old system with a 4790 and 16gb RAM I had no issue, which is a bad joke in itself...

tech how please answer i was recording gta 5 gameplay and the fottage was choppy so at first i could easily reocord i used to had that black screen problem but it was gone but after making all the changes from your video i have that black screen i tried everything like everything you can get when you search for the problem on google

Please help! Our live stream was clear and smooth but the upload to RUclips after the stream was badly lagged. Why?
Your recording is smooth and its laggy on the viewer's end? Check your upload speed and set your bitrate accordingly. Also try out the screen / display / game capture sources to see what works best for you.
@@techow thank you for responding. I lowered the it rate from 5000 to 4500 and did a test. Stream was smooth and the upload to RUclips was smooth as well. I think I’m good now, but I will know for sure this coming Wednesday when we go live again. Thanks.
My network upload speed is 100, but when i put my bitrate to 3500 it doesn't work. What should i do btw im on win 10

2080ti with an i7 8700k, 32 gb ddr4 ram and 300 maps internet. Can't stream smoothly and can't even record smooth on obs. My recordings lag so much..so frustrating.
Does anyone know how to handle pixilation and compression artefacts during live streaming?
Increase your bitrate and dont go too high or your pc or games might lagg
@@AutomotiveArabia Cool cool, weirdly enough, I kinda solved it because the game I am streaming is CPU intensive. I turned up the graphics in game so it won't look so jagged and it reduced the pixelation. Thank you still!

For those not lagging while recording but recorded video output is lagging, try these steps:
- Change encoder to NVIDIA NVENC H.264 (Settings>Output>Advanced>Encoder), Set your preferred bit rate, mine is 10000kbps
- Force OBS to use the high-performance graphics card (Nvidia control panel>Manage 3d Settings>program settings>OBS>high-performance NVIDIA processor)
- Run OBS as administrator
- Disable video preview (right-click preview>uncheck enable preview)
I record with a gtx 1650 laptop and it works really well especially the 1st and 2nd step (3rd and 4th step might be unnecessary), but each step actually improves video output quality based on my experience.

I've looked into Manage 3D settings but can't see high-performance Nvidia processor, does it have a different name?
@@LucidOreo I don't think it have a different name. Assuming your GPU is properly recognized by the computer, I'm not sure what should you try.
i have a similliar gpu to yours its the gtx 1660 and for some reason my game is stuttering when i open obs. Do you know any solution for that

I have a download speed of 800mbps and 400mbps upload speed. On steam download I can reach 120mb per second. However When I stream their will be frame lost because of internet. Hardware 3080ti,AMD R9, 32g ram. The bit rate will drop to 4000kbps/4mbps when I'm trying to out put 6000kbps/6mbps

I'm just tryna record some reaction vids but my video is super laggy. I got a mid 2014 macbook pro with 8gb memory. I record both computer audio and mic audio, connected a webcam, and am capturing the display. The resolution I use is 1920x1080. I don't know what the problem is. Maybe my mac is just out of date. If anyone has any ideas as to what the problem is please let me know.
Turn down the resolution and see if it helps

Has OBS been updated or something because there is no "quality" preset, just things like "veryfast" or, "slower".

You have to change the very top to advanced, it should look similar to this after that

For a stream in 1440 you should set it to at least 7000. That is if your connection can steadily hold an upload speed of 7mb/s.

Let me solve your problems. Use Game Capture as your source instead of Screen Capture. Select any fullscreen or specific window if you play in borderless mode. Thank me later.

Basically I was recording me playing my game and it wasn'tlagging at all. But after when I stopped recording I checked my video and played it. It was extremely laggy even though when i was playing the game and recording it, it was not lagging!

After updating to Windows 11 my obs is so laggy. I haven't even streamed but my game and webcam input is already so jerky I got so frustrated I stopped streaming after 5 minutes. DO NOT UPDATE TO WINDOWS 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!
