If the Aussie cast gets to have their accents, why can’t people deal with the Broadway cast’s accents. Come on people, just let them be. It’s not affecting any of you, so just be nice.
KennyTheDingus It’s probably because Australian accents sound very similar to British accents to most people and that’s coming from an Aussie who saw the Australian cast, so I can confirm that the Aussie cast definitely emphasises the accent in some parts. We also have the same vowel pronunciation but it shouldn’t really matter. I think every cast is unique and talented in their individual ways

what evidence do you have that british people spoke like americans? i personally think this idea of having to get over it is total bullshit. it is about fucking british history!!
I agree with you! I would just like to say, that I think the reason Australian accents and regional UK accents work for people who are against other accents for SIX, is because, Australian accents sound sorta like British accents (depending where we’re from). Uk regional accents also don’t stray to far off the classic British accent. But as I said, I agree. I’m also glad that the show isn’t aiming for historical accuracy, or half the cast would be dead from lead poisoning.
claddagh182 there’s a lot of articles that support that, just google it. It’s BASED on British history, it’s NOT historical. They have black and asian people playing caucasian characters, and you are talking about “mandatory British accent”? PLEASE
I saw you three times in St. Paul and all three times after your song everyone in the audience was so blown away and legit sobbing because of how powerful the song is compared to the others. No one immediately clapped after your song all three times -- not because we didn't like it -- but because it seriously came out of nowhere. Every other song had humor but yours is such a tragic story about a young teenager who was manipulated by men triple her age and got murdered for it. When the lights went up, Catherine Howard was the talk of the entire show. You were absolutely amazing.
I know she said she would take a break (teehee July 3rd) but it would be awesome if she sang the Phineas and Ferb theme song on the 104th day. I'm just saying
For some reason I always get like major anxiety nearing the end of the song, doesn't matter who's singing it, I just get so anxious right when she realises she's being used and I just- this song is honestly so heartbreaking I can't
I especially love the way she sings it because as you watch her facial expressions, tone of voice, body language and her eyes they tell the story without ever actually needing to hear it. I see her portrayed as young and in 'love' in the begining (because she was like 13 or something) being hopeful and happy and slightly cocky about her beauty but as the song goes on you can physically see her get more annoyed and depressed and losing hope, and when she brings up Thomas you can see some of her hope returning but in a slightly different way, as now she doesn't necessarily want love just a friend. But when in the end after all the pain and misery this literally child went through (she died when she 18 or 19 barely an adult) she still had hope for a friendship and was once again betrayed which resulted in her death, I love how Samantha really comes alive and shows her agony as Katherine comes to the realization there is no love and men only want her for her beauty which in the beginning she was probably proud of but is now nothing more than a burden to her. Sorry for the rant and grammatical errors just needed to get this off my chest and to show appreciation to an amazing singer/artist.
Side note with mad respect to the song writers (play writers?) for adding in little things like how she went from 'ran his fingers through my hair' to 'bit my lip and pulled my hair' to show how truly done with she started to feel about these men. Also things like 'birds and the bees' and 'when will enough be enoughsys' and other thing to show that is how children (maybe teens) talk about stuff. Sorry rant over just loved the play. Sorry for grammatical/spelling errors
2:28 - 2:50 YES!!! There is nothing wrong with them using an American accent, there is nothing wrong with them changing words like “mate” to “friends” (cuz that makes more sense in America), and there is nothing wrong with the Broadway cast! They are perfect!
YES!! The accents back then used a rhotic r, so you can't make the argument that "tHaT's HiStOrIcAlLy InAcCuRaTe" because the British accent is inaccurate as well. AND not all of the Queens were English anyway.
@@emjay1354 of Henry VIII's wives; Catherine of Aragon was Spanish, Anne Boleyn was educated in France and the Netherlands, Anne of Cleves was German. Then you consider the fact that the English they spoke and the English spoken now would have been so different as to be almost unrecognisable and honestly there is no historically accurate accents you can use.
Oh my god I’ve never cried at a musical before. But you are absolutely incredible as Howard especially in all you wanna do you could see her movements getting droopier and less sharp. Dragging her limbs as she got more emotionally exhausted as if she doesn’t have the energy anymore, like she was getting sick and tired of being used by men as the song/her life carried on. Then she finally tries to fight back (by shoving the other queens who represent the men who used her away) but she has no one to help her and she loses the battle. She is completely alone. The only love she’s ever known is lust. She becomes utterly helpless and breaks down into tears and gives up hope. And then she dies. Alone. You portrayed her character in a way I saw no one do. Aimie showed the innocence. You showed the tragedy. And what a tragedy her life was. (Also I don’t care if people say it’s worse because it has American accents!! I’m British btw. Like you said, does it affect the storyline?? Nope. Then stop hating!! She is incredible!!) Sorry if I didn’t explain that very well it didn’t quite translate quite as poetic as it sounded in my head but your performance was beautiful. (Not in this video well of course u were amazing but I meant on Broadway 🥰)
@@aperson5261 I agree with you. That's how i see it. From when she was young she was groomed into thinking these men would love her and as she got older she just fell easily for the men who would show the slightest attention thinking she would be loved and safe. She never had anyone in her corner telling her how wrong it was the way they were treating her. No one im her corner showing her how to protect herself from all the lust covered by so called love. And at her breaking point thinking she finally just found a friend who she can go to, he too uses her innocent blinded mind pushing her over and then being killed after having such a terrible life. She did have the worst of it in my opinion
Okay, honestly the reason I love Samantha Pauly's version of this song best is the final verse of the song. She's so open and expressive a K Howard she is and I just adore it but also the way she says _"devoted"_ I don't know what it is about it but I just love the tone on the last syllable.
Dang, Sam is truly one of the beet K. Howard. I just love how in the beginning of the song, she focuses on technique, she seems really cheery, adoring the attention, but as the song progresses, she has so much pain, maturing and seeing the true intentions of the men in her life.
Also about American accents, using shows on the west end using American accents is not a valid argument because literally 95% of Americans would not care if they used their regular accents. It’s just whatever the directors say.
WafflesRMyBestFriend also with the shows that do use American accents that go to the West End, a majority if not al of them take place in America most of which in current America.
I saw you live in Chicago and I was literally in tears by the end of your solo. The entire theater was completely silent until you followed it with the beheading joke. So moving and powerful.
Samantha, I am totally blind but so very much enjoy your voice. I can "see" Katherine and you make her come alive for me. Thank you for posting, I am such a fan.
Yay!!! I can’t believe we got this far!! Thank you to everyone that has been watching since the beginning, middle or even just watching this video! Now Samantha, go give yourself a big pat on the back! 👏👏👏
The end made me tear up. The way you sing i can hear the pain in your voice as if you went through all of this personally. You are a wonderful performer. I can't wait to see the full musical!
I love the way you portrayed the emotions behind the song, showing the transition between happy to get the attention and then realizing down the road it’s wrong and then you showed fear towards the end. Beautiful!!!!!
One of the things I realized I love about this song is that she’s flirty, but the message shows she genuinely loved each guy, but a piece of her was taken each time because they didn’t genuinely love her back, just the physicality. In todays era, being flirt and confident is just taken as someone who gets around or a player. Not the case
Sam, the way you tell her story in song gives me chills. You make her go from young and carefree to sad and bitter brilliantly. I love "Six" because I'm a huge Tudor history nerd from my youth, and I'm 61.
I'm sure you've heard this many times but honestly you're rendition is the best. It has development and pain. I bought the soundtrack after seeing your cast performance and wondered where all the emotion was. Like, sure it's contemporary theater but it's still theater so where's the emotion, y'know? Then I watched the U.K version and realized that's how they performed it. If ya'll ever record this song or the entire soundtrack with all the fixings we love ya'll for, please let a sis know so I can buy asap.
we’re doing a school production of SIX at my school and i got katherine howard (it’s upper school only so we’re allowed to do full version lol) and during proper dress rehearsals i cried whilst performing this song. it’s the whole theme of being manipulated that made me cry and the ending :(
Litterally rewatched this for the first time in a longgg time, and it made me cry. Im so sad she has left SIX now, but I am glad she is doing whats best for herself. I love her so much- and her singing makes me so happy. She makes me feel heard, appreciated, and straight-up happy. So Sam, i know you'll never see this, but you are the best actress and K. Howard. I don't understand why everyone is up in arms about this.
what evidence do you have that british people spoke like americans? i personally think this idea of having to get over it is total bullshit. it is about fucking british history!!
PLEASE
Can everyone just be friends 😂✌️I'm British and idc about accents
claddagh182 if that’s true then Aragon would have a Spanish accent and Cleves would have a German accent. Get. Over. It. Period.
Literal chills at the last chorus. "but it's never. ever. different... no... NO" gets me every time but omg this performance was fan-freaking-tastic!!
You don’t even notice the American accents when you go see the show
I saw you three times in St.
Can someone please tell me how it’s fair that she is this talented. But I love her
I know she said she would take a break (teehee July 3rd) but it would be awesome if she sang the Phineas and Ferb theme song on the 104th day. I'm just saying
🙏
I AM SO HYPED FOR JULY THIRD

Heather Spill exactly, so there shouldn't be a backlash because they use their American accents.
@@emjay1354 it also just should be accepted that it is a musical for entertainment purposes. Not to be used as a historical reference.

THIS WOMAN IS JUST PERFFECT
I’m sorry if i didn’t quite get the story quite right but that’s how I interpreted it 🥰
@@aperson5261 I agree with you.

If I had her voice I would never talk normally, I would sing everything. She is so talented!
bestie i know this is a joke but i cant stop imagining you singing to break the news that someone died...why do i think like this?
Dang, Sam is truly one of the beet K. Howard. I just love how in the beginning of the song, she focuses on technique, she seems really cheery, adoring the attention, but as the song progresses, she has so much pain, maturing and seeing the true intentions of the men in her life.
Yes, one of the *beet* K. Howard
So moving and powerful.
i think the bway cast only stays in new york you probably say the touring cast
someone tell me HOW I AM SUPPOSED TO RECREATE THIS FOR A SCHOOL PLAY?? LITERALLY SPEECHLESS.
howd the play go? suprised they let you do this as its a very sexualised play-
@@CasuallKateThere’s a high school version of the play.
I'm doing the play this year at school. I just finished auditions, but I wasn't called back for a queen. Hoping for ensemble!
Samantha,
I am totally blind but so very much enjoy your voice. I can "see" Katherine and you make her come alive for me. Thank you for posting, I am such a fan.
YOU DESERVE A TONY FOR SIX

Reasons why Samantha is the best #khoward
1.Beautiful singer.
2.Great Actress
3.GREAT EMOTION

I love the way you portrayed the emotions behind the song, showing the transition between happy to get the attention and then realizing down the road it’s wrong and then you showed fear towards the end. Beautiful!!!!!
that look when she says Thomas says they have a connection, tremendous transitions into the uncomfortable ending
I can't believe it's been 100 days...

Don't let people sleep. Your job is more important than sleeping 😅
One of the things I realized I love about this song is that she’s flirty, but the message shows she genuinely loved each guy, but a piece of her was taken each time because they didn’t genuinely love her back, just the physicality. In todays era, being flirt and confident is just taken as someone who gets around or a player. Not the case
Btw, my birb approves. She started dancing a bit and was whistling.
Not only does she have the vocal range, but the emotional range too! She’s my absolute fave 🥰

Sam, the way you tell her story in song gives me chills. You make her go from young and carefree to sad and bitter brilliantly. I love "Six" because I'm a huge Tudor history nerd from my youth, and I'm 61.

The last chorus. 😭😢😥😭😥😢😭 The emotion in her voice... THIS is why she is the TRUE K.Howard!!!
Agree!
we’re doing a school production of SIX at my school and i got katherine howard (it’s upper school only so we’re allowed to do full version lol) and during proper dress rehearsals i cried whilst performing this song. it’s the whole theme of being manipulated that made me cry and the ending :(
Litterally rewatched this for the first time in a longgg time, and it made me cry. Im so sad she has left SIX now, but I am glad she is doing whats best for herself. I love her so much- and her singing makes me so happy. She makes me feel heard, appreciated, and straight-up happy. So Sam, i know you'll never see this, but you are the best actress and K. Howard. I love you. 👑💖
Damn that "EVER!" in the "but it's never EVER different" fucking hit me like a punch in the gut. The entire ending of the song is already so emotionally powerful and just. Muah, beautiful
