This was great prep for me! I bought this kit and intend to sand down the logos and turn it into a replica of my 1st vehicle, an '82 mazda B2000. Wish me luck...
Great build Chris, I used to see these and the Mazda truck that was the same design as this Ford courier back when I was a kid back in the 1980s, very popular compact pickup trucks😊❤👍
Love hanging out here on a Sunday with a bottle of wine.Last build was the Tamiya 1300 VW Beetle and starting tomorrow the Revell 1976 Chevy Sport Stepside Pickup. Ordered in from the USA.Looks like a beast!
I built a Ford Courier in the mid seventies with Coors Beer decals the tool box in the bed of the truck was a beer cooler it had a clear piece that fit in that looked like cans of beer and ice. Was a cool kit to build.
Yep had a 1980 good little truck just one little quirk with mine if I went to shift to fast the shifter would pop out of the trans got to were i could fix it in 5 minutes in part to replacing the bolts with studs and using wing nuts
Right on! Everyone argues with me when I would say that! There is some truth that Japan and us made a great deal of complete trucks as well as parts pieces and components!
Hey.! Alright..!! Got to comment on the music.. At 19:57 and 26:36 .. Always mellows me out with those tunes.. You have used them for a bit now and never get tired of it.. Who is it? And this vid has some 70's funkie stuff happening.!! Cool watch.. Keep dry.!!
I had a 78 as well..I should have done a V8 swap instead of selling it when the 4 banger wore out....but I was a clueless kid and didn't know that was possible at the time.
I got to get this kit I had a uncle who had this truck wish I could remember what all it looked like I was in elementary school when he had it rip uncle jim
Your comments about "model bloat" are on point. A late 1990's GMC Sierra looks like a mini truck parked beside my '17 F-150. A new Colorado parked beside that same Sierra is the exact same size. Anyway, great build and great looking kit!🙂
Sir, Your style when it comes to Scale modelling building is amazing. Been around and have never seen anyone with the passion you have. Yes a Guy called PLASMO is another, but he does thing differently. You both are a credit to all Scale Modelers and hope more will see your work and join your fraternity. Dam well done and Love your style.
Great build. I always sand my tires, but never thought of putting them on a socket in the drill that matched the inner diameter of the tire. I am going to do that from now on! Thanks!
Awesome build Chris!! My Dad had an EXACT replica of ur build of this truck that he use to drive back then! Right down to the same color of the body! Only difference was my Dad had the hubcaps on his not aluminum rims. Again, awesome build my friend 😊
Another great build, and I couldn't see any problems with the paint. I will be heading your way soon for the Ultimate Street Car Challenge at Road America.
I’m a nerd for old trucks and 4x4s, especially the chromed out 80s stuff. I’m gonna have to do some “modifications “ to the suspension with a lighter to make it look off-road ready.
Another winner Chris!! Really cool build, dig the color combinations and presentation!! This goes on my next order from Modelroundup, you sold me another kit I didn't know I NEEDED !!
Great video as always! I wasn't very interested in this kit until I saw your video but now, I'd like to get a couple of them. There's a lot you can do with this kit, custom, commercial, farm, you name it! Thanks again for the great video!
What do you do once you take the parts off the tree? Won't there be plastic showing underneath where the connections were? Is it easy to touch up? I am pretty new to the hobby and I was just super curious about why I always see you paint on the tree.
Useless trivia: Trucks with 6-foot beds were visually ID'd by three factory "cleats" or stanchions on each side of the bed. 7-foot beds had four cleats per side. The small round badge in the grille said "2.3" and denoted the use of the 2300cc 88-horse engine. No badge there for the standard 2000cc 77-horse. Nice build. Mine was the same color you selected.
Great job on the build as always. You make it look so easy! When AMT had the flare side version back in the day, I had such a hard time assembling the bed, I almost gave up. I don't feel so bad about my paint on the Porsche Tractor I'm working on (Thanks to your review) our humidity is through the roof right now in Florida. You're right about the compact trucks being away. Luckily they are kinda coming back. Check out the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz. They're crewcab unibodies, but they have the same spirit as the old trucks. I wouldn't be surprised if someone makes model versions of them soon.
I just got back into the hobby recently and I been watching vids . But I like your channel alot man. Very descriptive. Fun to watch.and you cover ALOT of kits. I don't know how you can build these things so quick. Takes me weeks to a month to finish one 😄
Nice work, Ford used the B2000 series with a Brazilian built 2300 Ford engine. I had a few of these over the years and they were a better truck that the Ford ranger which I have had as well. T/Y and Happy New Year 2022!
Do you find you get more paint on the model with a can rather than an air brush? Can you do a video painting a model with the air brush? I would like to see that. I'm thinking of getting an air brush.
Spray paint lays down a much thicker coat of paint, especially the stuff this guy uses. I can't stand the spray paint from hardware stores for models because of that. It covers up all the details and makes them look that much more like toys. Spray paint made for models, like Tamiya's spray line, sprays much, much finer. But an airbrush is best if you're trying to preserve details. Airbrushing puts down an extremely thin layer of paint.
@@tcj226 I like to keep as much detail on my models as possible. I try and make them as real to life as I can. I spent most of my adult life as a heavy truck and equipment machanic. I do mostly big rigs, but I like the smaller trucks also.
Cool truck dude!!! I remember seeing these factory sport trucks with the front nerf bars and roll bars. Fun fact, I learned how to operate a 4 speed manual in a 1st gen Chevy Luv!!!
Long time fan an finally getting back into modeling because of your videos and doing a hemi under glass as my getting back model. You might be in luck ford has a small truck coming called the maverick an its truly a small odd truck an going to be cheap.
The hemi under glass has a special place in my heart I got to meet bob and set in the car an he gave me a spark plug when I was 6 I still have the shit so when I seen the model of the first car I had to have it.
Excellent build on the Ford Courier pickup Chris! Kinda funny how the increased humidity didn't do your paint job justice, I had the same issue building a kit where I'm at in Las Vegas due to our "Monsoon".
Fun fact the optional wheels are the same Vector turbine wheels used on the General Lee. so if you ever want to do a detailed accurate Lee use those instead of the kit supplied ones. but cause of use of metal axles the only way to use those wheels is if you build the snap together curbside version geared to younger builders but those wheels would go a LONG way to make that version of the general 'pop'.
I carnt help wundering wot it would of looked like in my favourite colour whitch is royal blue but it looks fantastic in red like whot you have done her
Nice one Chris. Do you thin or do anything to your Testors Silver? I buy a new bottle and it always looks like grey. I found a nice silver from a company that makes paint for miniatures, but it is expensive. Anyway...TY for the build.
Not rainy enough down here near Madison. We were at a 10” annual deficit before the most recent rain. Way too many times when we don’t get rain, but we get humidity. Lately, I am trying to only paint chassis and roll cages, since they don’t need to be so glossy.
There isn't a table big enough to hold hundreds of built kits. Simply look at the channel home page and you'll see all I've built and can watch at your leisure.
And for what it's worth, Ford has gone retro with the release of the all new Ford Maverick pickup, a front wheeled drive new version of the old Courier....
Beginner's question: is there a functional reason you prefer CA glue to model glue for so many parts? Is it to minimize paint running, or quick drying, or...?
I think she came out alright Chris, nothing to be ashamed of buddy. Yeah I’m in my basement most of the time, where it’s a lot cooler but even with the daggone humidity lately it still messes with paint jobs, even down here. Bunch of who-hah, oh well, like you I just put several coats of future on and “Wham” a totally different vehicle! Haha! Anyhow, cool buddy, keep on trucking! Pun intended!
My uncle porky had a Ford courier in baby blue funny story is when he was coming up the road the tv would scramble ocording to my mom Rest In Peace uncle porky

Back in '82 I rented a U-Haul cube truck that was based on a Courier. My wife-to-be and I actually had some fun with that little cube truck!
Sweet little truck - thanks for the build.
Glad you like it!
Great build always amazing how the black wash makes the build.

Awesome! A 70s pickup, this model looks great Chris.
I think so too!
I've seen sum kit's being made but that little truck is brilliant

Cool, hope they find that mold for the cooler.
Awesome! I believe the Courier was a rebadged Mazda pickup. Years down the line Mazda's B Series truck was a rebadged Ford Ranger.
Thanks for the info!
Yep. I had one of these..was wrecked when I got it..was able to fix it up using parts from Mazdas in the local junkyard.
