Blayne had "Blood Offerings" as one of his albums of the year a few years back...Riley said she didn't really like that album.
I demand Banger's first debate show on this matter. *ding ding*
(All seriousness though, Riley is a great addition! Great review of this album!)
Blood Offerings is one hell of a debut
@@keithchristen8497 The Blade's opening riff is already legendary
it's on!
If I have to guess the difference is that Blayne is a huge Doom and Black Metal fan and both use a heavy dose of repetition to create an atmosphere. She apparently isn't into that stuff. 🤔 Personally my tastes align with Blayne and Blood Offerings was a damn wicked debut. Although I think Grave Miasma beats Necrot any day of the week but that is besides the point.
I think both albums are great, hard to pick a fav, but it’s still way too early to tell. I feel like I often need a year to fully know what I think about an album, like I might love it at first, but like bubblegum the sweetness turns bland after the honeymoon phase, and then of course there are albums I have a hard time getting into at first, but like a cast iron pan, the more I use it, the better it gets.. or maybe a good scotch or bourbon is a better metaphor.. idk, too many metaphors, I’m sure people get the point. I need a good amount of time to actually definitively decide on most albums, and sometimes (quite often) initial impressions are deceitful.

Welcome, Riley! Good to have you amongst the awesome folks at Banger. Thanks for the killer review. I look forward to seeing more of ya. 🤘
Cheers!
Great review Riley! Good luck at banger!!
She’s a great host. She touched on some really good topics. This is the kind of album reviews I love to see. So many great points. I’m excited to see more
Cheers and thanks for watching!
She did such a great job on reviewing this album. She'll be a great add in BangerTV.
The site she wrote for (hellbound.ca) is really good, too.
Stoked to have her on board!
But she’s an SJW so here is my dislike
@@supremelordoftheuniverse5449 omg seriously. Why’d she have to say that
And she's adorable too! 😍💞😍💞
Welcome Riley!! Tech death needs more spotlight,.
We need a review for Nuklearth by Cytotoxin.
Fucking yes please
The opener to that album is so sick
That album is so fucking sick
And Revive the Throne .
Yes! That album is amazing

Saw these dudes live touring with Exhumed. Drummer went so hard, he broke his snare drum!
LaylaLover90 He broke the head. Not the drum.
That was a great tour... wish I bought the Exhumed hot sauce, though!
@@jessicagreer5015 Sick line up Gatecreeper was also on this tour. Also seen Necrot with Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse. That was fucking insane!
Sign of a good night!
Always refreshing to see new faces at Banger. This was a solid review. At first I wasn't sure if we'd see eye to eye on this one since i'm more into straight up caveman death metal than i am tech death. I enjoy both but I'm definitely more into 101 proof death metal. Just the same all your points hit home. I have been rabidly anticipating this album! I'm a huge Necrot fan and have been since buying their compilation release The Labyrinth back in 2016. The moment Mortal was announced it became my most anticipated album of 2020. I can't wait to get my vinyl copy along with the album art long sleeve i pre ordered. If this well thought out review hasn't convinced you yet than go and listen to it on Bandcamp or Spotify and let the music speak for itself. I am looking forward to future content from Riley. Also mad props for the excellent recommendations in the shout outs! For anyone interested another extremely talented Canadian blackened thrash band Occult Burial has a new album dropping October 30th called Burning Eerie Lore! Their debut full length Hideous Obscure is so fucking deliciously evil and i can't wait to hear what comes next.
Sonny Reinhardts name sounds like he could also play some great Gipsy Swing.
He's the son of Sunny Rollins and Django Reinhardt
Welcome Riley!! Loved your first review, best of luck at Banger!
Social justice advocate with the Burzum in the background. Can relate
Great addition to the Banger crew!
wdym she's just a fan of LOTR and wants justice for the ents
Welcome Riley, good to have you join the Banger family.
Riley brings up a lot of issues that I really get stuck on with many metal albums. Maybe it is lazy songwriting, or maybe it is assuming what people want is same old same old. Nice addition to the crew. Welcome!
Quite often, I love same old same old. For example, every year there are at least one or two (sometimes more) OSDM, 1st and 2nd wave “trad” BM, throwback thrash and hardcore, and of course trad doom, and trad 70s style heavy metal, albums that I really love, despite the fact that (beyond some production/mastering differences) they really aren’t any different from the OG stuff that build the genres in the first place. It’s very same old, but when it’s done right, and theirs strong song writing, I’m gonna love it potentially as much as some of the trve classics.
That said, this is why most of the albums I get into, metal or not, are progressive and experimental, bc once you get acquainted with all the twists and turns and complexities and weird flourishes, and get beyond that overwhelmed phase (I often experience this), then you are just at awe of the creativity. Also, I like that with experimental/progressive music, you often keep noticing new things you hadn’t noticed before, even if you’ve spun something a few dozen times.
Anyway, I guess my point is not much of a point at all... I like it all, as long as the songwriting is good and the production isn’t either so compressed I feel like synthetic, or so lo-fi that I feel like someone put nails through my ear drums, or mud in my ears.
Thanks for the welcome!
hey welcome to the team. Was just listening to that Necrot demo comp a week or so ago, it's gnarly. great band.
Hm, death and Texas chainsaw poster. I like this host already.

Always nice to see a new reviewer! And a good ol fashioned death metal album
Welcome Riley! Killer album for a first review!
Welcome to Banger, Riley! Looking forward to more of your reviews!
Welcome to the crew. I’ll check out your website. One can never have enough Metal review sites.
Glad that Riley started off with an album I was looking forward to. Got it in the mail on Wednesday and enjoyed it quite a bit, especially the solos. I'd say a 4/5 skulls is a good rating, not really blowing anyone's mind, but some super super sick NWOSDM. Looking forward to future Riley reviews, though I don't like tech death so hopefully not *TOO* much of that
Dr. Forrester tech death is life.
So she didn’t say how many skulls she gave it, it just cuts to the 4 skulls. Does that mean she got overruled?
I'd say she forgot to mention the actual rating on camera
It's her first time and she was just a little nervous (hmmmm...), I can identify with something like this, my first time as a DJ at the local college radio station I read a PSA for the local suicide prevention hotline, counseling, and I read through it perfectly, but at the end I went back to the music without ever giving out the phone number for the suicide prevention hotline. So, in the final analysis, ceteris paribus, I'd say she did a pretty damn good job, and I will forgive her minor infraction.
I’m not criticizing her, I get that it’s her first one, but even if she forgot to say it and they were editing it together they could’ve had her just send in the voice over saying ‘that’s why I’m giving it four out of five skulls’ or even record the clip again. I’ve watched pretty much every video Banger’s ever done and it just struck me as odd given that they definitely strive for consistency in all these overkill review videos. Also, it seemed like she might be leading up to giving it 3 or 3.5 skulls based on what she was saying about the repetition etc and boom it just cuts to 4/5. Just wondering whether ol’ Sam Dunn was like ‘no it’s a solid album from a good band give it 4/5’
Welcome Riley! Great review. Really like that you explain both the sound (distortion on guitars, quality etc) and also structure of songs on the album. And of course it really doesn't hurt that it's all about DM. Keep this one!
Welcome Riley! Dug the review. I too was underwhelmed by Blood Offerings. I picked it up based on the amount of buzz it had and thought it was cool, but a bit too much of the same on each track. More excited to give the new one a thorough listen.
Good job on the review and thanks a lot for the Aepoch shout out! Missed that they had a new one coming out somehow. Also, I too listen to a lot of tech death 🤘
So excited for a new host, love seeing Banger getting bigger!! My favourite metal channel on RUclips, I can’t wait for restrictions to start lifting so we can see everyone back on the set. It’s always best with everyone talking metal together
Welcome to Banger Riley. You already seem like a nice fit among nice people there. Best of luck!!

Congrats on joining the Banger team. Great review! In some ways I get an 'early Mayhem' vibe from this album.
Great review and great addition to your team!

Welcome Riley. Glad to have you on board. Looking forward to what else you have in store for the channel
Great review and addition to the team! Looking forward to hearing you review some tech death!
Riley is awesome!!!!! Tech/Death & Death Metal which these two are both one of my favorites, she's fits well in BangerTV and she's quite the looker. ;) \m/
Welcome Riley. I look forward to more reviews.
Nice review! Also I gotta back your recommendation for Gutvoid, they rule!
Thank you!!
Hey, Riley! Welcome to the channel!! I'm a big fan of hellbound.ca, so I'm happy to see you here. I agree with what you said about the last Necrot - I liked it a lot, but it was more something I played while gaming or something and not something I could just sit and listen to like I can do with the new one. Thanks for the review(s)!
As for the Burzum thing, I like that progressive people can take beautiful music made by hateful people and make it theirs. As for what matters, the review, Riley really touches on the thing that bothers me the most with death metal. The disinclination to be original and change things up in the songs. I know a lot of people think you have to sound old school, but if you're not bringing anything new to the table then I'll just stick to the classics.
Welcome, Riley! Great review. Looking forward to see more reviews from you
Love this channel. Riley is awesome! Keep up on the reviews. Respect from an old metalhead from Barrie. lml
So awesome to see a new host!! You did super good Riley!

Me looking at the thumbnail: WHO IS THIS NEW PERSON?
Me when the video opens: Oh shit leprosy poster, they're alright.
But on the record. I streamed it only the one time so far and I fucking loved it. Nice and condensed, didn't feel any moments of lag. I can't wait to listen again.
Nice review! Welcome to Banger
Yup, Sinister Will was the first song on the album to really catch my ear as well. It has old Unleashed vibes to it.
Great addition with Riley, awesome review!
New Banger host! Welcome! When it comes to more technical death metal, I have gotten a bit into bands like Cynic, Gorguts' Obscura, and Death's later albums but not much more than that. Not sure how representative of the sub-genre this is, but I associate more modern tech death with way too slick production and a ton of triggered double bass that sounds more like a drum machine. This Necrot album doesn't seem to fall into that though!
Don't think Necrot is really tech death, she was just saying she's a tech death fan. Give Revocation a go and if you like Obscura you'd probably dig Beyond Creation too
@@chunderjack good point! I hadn't put that together but now that ya mention it I think I may have confused what she was saying. Thanks for the recommendation, anything that's as out of left field as Obscura is good by me
Bro-hannesburg, South Africa Gorguts’ Obscura is in a category of one. Legend album.
Looking forward to your tech death reviews. There's alot of the most amazing stuff ever that flies under the radar i.e. the entire Artisan Era roster and more.
Nice poster there behind you ;)
I’d compare Necrot to a mix of Incantation, Angel Corpse, Autopsy, and Slayers Hell Awaits album. Got a nice old school sound I love.
Holy shit, Thanks for the shoutout!! Super stoked you're digging "The Funeral Corridor". Kick ass review of a kick ass band; cant wait to see more stuff from Riley!
That album cover is rad. How come no vinyl?
@@DarthGrimby late to reply to this, but we are only a small band with no label backing. Vinyl is very costly to print. We would love to do it one day, though!
Great first review Riley, hoping to see more!
Finally a Tech Death fan to do reviews.
Please educate these folks and add more technical death metal reviews.
Officially more tech death coming your way
Great addition to the channel.
thx for the Æpoch recommendation. Loving Ozonihilation song!
So I liked their debut a few years back but this album is definitely better in a lot of respects. It doesn't set out to reinvent the wheel, but it does what it sets out to do really well.
And that's kind of what I think people should understand about a lot of these OSDM throwback bands like Tomb Mold, Gatecreeper, Dead Congregation, Horrendous, Ripped to Shreds and many others. They're not trying to be something entirely different or new. They're taking tried and trusted sounds and putting their own twist on it, or reviving certain sounds that haven't been replicated, like taking influences from Demilich, Incantation, Timeghoul and many other classic OSDM bands who weren't given their dues in their heydays. So it's always cool to have new bands keep the sound alive.
Just picked up this album by Necrot and I have never heard of them before and once I heard the first song I was like yes some good death metal , I really like what you said about the 5th song sinister will, and you are definitely right about the riff work , thanks for making this review I didn't know anything about this band before buying the cd and I'm really happy I got it today.
Great review, well articulates! Good vibes all around
Great addition to the team, great review.
Super super great job on the first review.. First of many hopefully 🤘🖤

Thanks for watching \m/

Great review, Riley!!
Welcome Riley. A good job on your first review, but I do wish you would mention the tracks by name more often. Other than that, keep them coming!
Let's get into the shoot oots aye
This community is the best! Everybody here is so polite and considerate! Not one word about Riley being "hot" or something vulgar like that - just a lot of encouraging comments regarding her knowledge of music. Not sure if this reflects the fact that most of you are Canadian or the fact that you're all metalheads! Still, congrats, pals! And great review, Riley! Keep up the good work.
Instantly went to Bandcamp and listened to some Æpoch. Bought it all including a shirt. Awesome stuff!
Great first review. I appreciate that you went over detail of the music for more than one sentence. Good death metal is so easy to dismiss because of what you stated about repetitive riffing or just an overall bland feeling. Thankfully this is top notch for the straightforward DM I enjoy sometimes.
Big tech death guy here if it's done right.
Peace
I like the review. You're welcome in banger TV community. \m/ from São Paulo, Brazil.
I´m in love! Welcome Riley, great review lml lml
Hello Riley!! Good luck at Banger ;)
Death metal ballad... I got that that same feeling also after listening to that song... Last time I got that notion was with the song "nothing left to mutilate", not by the song itself, but by the undeniably sad and depressing feeling you get by contextualizing the title. I can't help to imagine a devastated and grieving corpsegrinder fisher severely bummed out over the idea.
Now in all seriousness, Riley was absolutely great, she kept me engaged throughout the entire review. Awesome addition to the team.
Necrot are just getting better and better every release
