After recently getting into two hand tapping I decided to challenge myself and write a song that used this technique exclusively :)

I find your music better than Rob's and Jared's. Just my PERSONAL OPINION.
that's cool, man. I personally think pete's and rob's music is on the same level with jared just slightly below them. I really like jared, but he doesn't seem to make much original stuff
+The Broken Puppet And most of Jared's original stuff isn't too great either *cough* *cough* dissimulator *cough*.
+Micheal Rosen death core is kinda boring, isn't it?
+The Broken Puppet it all goes along the same formula. chug, chug, power chord, blast beats, dissonant chords, diminished sweeping arpeggios, and that weird thing that they seem to do a lot in Aliencore where its like a minor recorded over a major. idk how they do it but Pete referred to it in one of his metal generator videos and called it Drop Q I think. but yea no disrespect to metal or even core whatsoever I happen to like a lot of those sort of bands. some do it very well and a lot don't. I like Pete's stuff a lot because a.) he seems to have more of a variety of stuff that he puts out b.) he puts more time into it and c.) he seems more educated in music than a lot of other RUclips musicians. I like his style and how he can go from like face melting core slinging metal to soft acoustic. I think that's a talent within itself.
Anyfucking day man!!!
Pete, I just want to say it's really refreshing to see someone use an 8 string as creatively as you do. Keep it up dude!
Will Maxwell Thanks Will! :)
must say you are an amazing songwriter, cool memorable riffs and ideas!!
Martin Javorek Thanks, that means a lot! :)
@@peteplaysmusic damn thats so awesome what you are doing there, what kinda tuning you got on that eight string, i Just bought one eight string after seeing you play and also sarah longfield , now i am contaminatie with the eight string virus 😂
Nearly a decade later and I still come back to this song...
Thanks so much! It’s one of my favourites too :)
This is honestly one of those songs that just demonstrates the validity of extended range guitar in modern music (even non-metal) for me. Well deserved credit to you man.
WolfsRainESP No unfortunately not but you could play it on a 7 string though. You'd need to tune your guitar to something like F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Bb (Low to High) :D
+Pete Cottrell how do you tune it whit the 8 string? :)
+Pelle Renlund A step below standard if I'm correct
+Fuh Q thanks!
+Pelle Renlund No problem!
So this is the song ive been hearing in the background for years! Vibey as hell, i love it
reminds me to limp bizkit
andre nazly I love Wes Borland, was definitely the vibe I was going for :)
Not quite. More like- Can you take it all away, can you take it all the way, when you shoved it in my face, explain your game to me...
@@peteplaysmusic but either and any way you fucking rock man...
I just found your videos 20 mins ago and man you are incredible. Also you simply reply every comment, i'm your new overly attached fan from now on.
Uygar Uyanıksoy Including replying to this comment too, Thanks for watching! :)
It's incredibly refreshing to hear an 8 string guitar that's not ridiculously distorted or obnoxiously complicated like any sort of Animals as Leaders stuff. Good show! I'm super relaxed now. xD
Thanks!!! As much as I like Tosin and AAL, I'm much more influenced by less complicated songs. I also think there's a very big Wes Borland influence in this song :)
I was just thinking this could have come straight off Chocolate Starfish… Love this so much!!!
I like the southern vibe to this song, bro! I just love it!
Tappity tap tap
Ethan Benedict Tap tap tippity slide! :)
Pete Cottrell Tippity Tap, Shuffle, Slide, Tippity Tap
Alec Benedict Tap Tippidy Tap Tap, Shuffle, Boom, Tap, Slide! :)
This is going to be a battle isn't it.
Alec Benedict A battle to the bitter tap tippity end! :)
I love how this really makes me feel like out in a cool night with a huge full moon shining. Hats off Pete, great stuff you got here.
Many thanks! :)
Wow, brilliant man. It's refreshing to hear something other than heavy distortion and chug riffs on an 8 string. This song is so simple in composition, yet incredibly interesting and groovy to listen to. Well done!
This song is amazing, I can't help but listen to it over and over, and imagine the little harmonies that could flow with the melody.
Either way though- it's perfect. :)
Oh dude that was so sick. I've replayed this so many times and this would be perfect for some rock vocals over the top. If only i could sing.
Nathan Romanos Thanks! :)
around 2012 I was struggling with a chronic illness (still am) this song was often on my headphones, soothing me through it on my night walks (it's worse at nights) Still super fond of this song and it makes me a bit sentimental 😊 Music truly heals and helps
Sorry to hear about your health issues, I’m very pleased my music has helped you and wishing you the best :)
@@peteplaysmusic I did write to you ages ago about it and your responses has always been kind as ever. keep up the good work!
Having a shit day today. Remembered this song and things are better now. Music always brings me back from the dark side and love that your tunes can help. Keep it up my man. new subscriber I am!
Pete, its guitar players like you that truly show what an extended range guitar can do and what an incredible influence you are on musicians looking to get into it such as myself. Keep up the good work and shred on brother.
+stonedome93 Wow, Thanks! :)
Hey Pete. Just wanted you to know that I showed this video to my sister before she died and she loved it so much that she probably listened to it 100 times. ;) keep rock'n
Hey Brian, man I've read your comment multiple times and I'm still not sure what to say. My condolences dude, I'm very, very pleased she liked it so much! I'm not sure if I've even listened to it 100 times haha. Sending big hugs man and thank you for commenting, this one will stick in the memory for a long time. Keep Rockin' dude, Pete :)
+Pete Cottrell I used this video to show her that extended range Guitars weren't just about Meshuggah. lol. She said something about marrying your fingers......
Really good vibe from this one, deff my favorite!
+Matthieu Coulombe Lacasse Thanks! :)
Just found your channel and I can't stop listening to this and "Trails"
Can tell you really enjoy to make this stuff and not just out there for the views.

Many thanks, This is a big guitar so it's hard to play :)
one of the best 8 string guitar songs...
i really love this song.. i am a fan of drums and the drums come through clearly, and i like the bell-sound..
This is why I want an 8 string... Not just for heavy metal. Not many I find on RUclips that play like this
Lenny Fabian Thanks! Also check out Rob Scallon for awesome 8 stringery! :)
one of my faves!!
I love your music man!
It's amazingly inspiring.
Very fresh, these days. I love it. Tells a story. The kind of music that travels. My favorite...
I could watch this all day!! Can't wait for an EP!!
A re-recorded version of this will probably be on my EP :)
This is beautiful, creative, and unique. I love it!

Limp Bizkit vibes on this one, amazing song Pete!
love this song.
I've been trying to find inspiration to learn more, to go farther, and try making something unique. You may friend have fueled my inspiration, and no words can thank you enough for that.
Dude, u rock. I love this song
Increible, Magico.
Such an inspirational song! Took me 5 years to come by but, thank you Pete!!

+Adam Lucas Thanks! :)
I can't realy say I've heard so many nice bass songs, this one is defenetly a one tho', nicely done!
+Flambass What exactly do you mean by 'bass song'?
+Count To .Infinity I think he means that his guitar sounds a like a bass guitar
So AWESOME!
Thanks! :)
another great video, love how you use the delay with some really great melodies.
Masterpiece!!!
Pete i watch this video over and over and never get tired of hearing and watching you play it. Love to hear more like it and one day I will be able to play it. I may have to cheat a bit because next guitar is a seven string ;). You are one of my favs bud
Awesome, awesome, awesome track i have it on repeat all day hope you will make more like this :)
just when i was about to loose faith in music i find you! THANK YOU!!!!
Thanks for watching! :)
Dude I haven't listened to this song in while and when I did man it was epic because it just hits you hard and gets you in a nice relaxed trance state.Awesome playing Pete!
Btw Cold wars is my fav dude:)
Close your eyes, you can see Durst getting ready to chime in!! Awesome some Pete
***Sings and waves arms*** "Keep Rollin, Rollin, Rollin, Rollin" :D Thanks!!!
Very hypnotic! And congrats for not needing a hair tie/ Fret Wrap to play 8-finger tapping cleanly. Great technique.
Thanks!!! :)
This song got me off hard times ... I'm happy I stumbled upon it again
Once again something that I really enjoy. Keep up the good work.
Adam C Thanks Adam :)
wow,
it's like Limp Bizkit - but better.
much better.
really enjoyed this one!
+Vasari O I got that vibe aswell, reminded me of Limp Bizkit.
+Vasari O I really Love Wes from Limp Bizkit so I was definitely going for that vibe :)
+Vasari O Yeah man, same here. This is Limp Bizkit without all the douchiness.
+Vasari O I'm not even Pete Cottrell and i was deeply offended by this comment.
+Eli Delano Limp Bizkit got a lot of hate because of Fred Durst, but they put out some good shit man. Wes is still ridiculously underrated. Rearranged is one of the first bass lines I learned to play, and they took Nu Metal to another level. Don't let other people's prejudice get in the way.
This is just too awesome!!! :)
Thanks! :)
Killer video as always, Pete. :)
Many Thanks :)
I bought an 8 string yesterday, (yay) and now I am definitely learning this.
excellent song, cant wait to see what else you can do using this technique, because you can make it seem so easy.
jonty freack Awesome and thanks! Practice some legato or 3 note per string legato patterns like Paul Gilbert, they really help build the strength and timing for this kinda tapping technique. There will be more songs using this technique in the future :)
this song is relaxing in my ears :D love your songs they are all good in there own way :D cheers dude :D
Nikolas Petersen Thanks! :)
I love this. Got a great groove. Love all your music. Keep it up.
Thanks!!! Yeah this ones got quite a chill grove to it :)
this is just amazing man! wow
Thanks! :)

Just discovered you on RUclips, mind=blown! I got my first 8 string for Christmas, had a 7 before that, both Schecters. You are amazing, can't wait to try to imitate your finger picking!
Jody Conrad Thanks! Rock that new 8 string :)
Dude I first thought limp bizkit when I heard this song and it just kept getting better. well done
Thanks! :)

Just stumbled across this and its absolutely beautiful. Keep up the awesome playing.
+Mark Mallett Thanks for watching! :)
Good stuff man. You and Rob Scallion are my two favorite guitarists and a huge inspiration for me to pick back up the guitar. I've been making electronic music for a while now and miss just playing a guitar. I want an 8-string now!! And a U-bass lol
Sam Rakestraw Well thanks! You should make some videos or covers with 8 String and U-Bass when you get them! Imagine Meshuggah on a U-Bass :D
Such a nice and relaxed tune :) Love it
Thanks!!! Much chill :)
Only one word, AMAZING !
+Kychu03 Thanks! :)

Man, this is a stellar groove. I like your style. This is just as sick as the Slap Bass vid you did. Thanks for sharing your soul, and sound with us, man. Cheers, mate.
Cornelius Smith Thanks for watching! :)
No doubt, friend. Keep up the good work.
