Thank you Joan for your wonderful words.
Rip Joan Didion. Very sad I feel today. From Italy. 🇮🇹
Like other people who loved Joan Didion's writing, I felt like I knew her and looked forward to any possibility of actually meeting her. At the same time I fully accepted that she was likely a private person and I fully respected that. Her strength throughout her personal tragedies is an inspiration.
Loved her writing.....she wrote about grief and she had a lot of it to deal with. RIP Joan....sure your husband and daughter and other loved ones will be reunited with you now.
We are slouching ever closer to Bethlehem. The center cannot hold the way things are going. In Slouching Toward Bethlehem, the seminal work about the sixties, Didion spoke of putting "one word after the other" as she struggled to complete the book. Things did not come easy and she suffered writer's neurosis and from time to time,, a nervous condition. She suffered, she persevered and above all she excelled- her prose was exceptional. She said, whenever you're writing about something, you're always putting someone out.✍ Her ironic wit and singularly unique voice will be missed.
R.I.P. Joan.
RIP Joan Didion. You will be missed.
“Adults finish things.” Joan’s resonate slogan got me through my Masters degree in Modern American Lit. RIP
that sounds like her but I’m curious where did she say that?

Her book "The Year of Magical Thinking" was a great comfort to me at a time when I needed it. Wish I'd thought of thanking her somehow, but I guess hindsight is 20/20.
I loved that book.
Losing the knowledge and experience that a living human offers always hurts. Losing one who knew how to write well about their knowledge and experience hurts more, despite them having left a map for us.
Great great Author!!!!
RIP Joan and Eve
I only started reading her works six months before :( (The Year of Magical Thinking and Play It As It Lays so far) she will be greatly missed 💗
So sorry I didn’t try to contact her while healthy!

Why is this news? She's not black so who cares?
We who read her books care and it is news, sad news but news none the less.
@@catchingthemoon Bah humbug.
In the Most High our hope remains. Joan Didion did not believe in the soul.
