Joan rivers was a smart woman.......as well as a funny one. I personally, appreciated listening to this interview as it gives me another chance to see the depth of her intelligence. You cannot be a exceptionally good at anything without the going to the depths she took her "job" I miss her today and always will....she was a true genius !
I loved hearing what her steps were when the audience was a problem/heckler. Her business like routine. She really acts like she doesn’t care but you can see here, she very much did care.
Why all the hate ? And fighting? If you don't like her then why are you here? She was a one of a kind performer who worked her ass off for decades .. I don't always agree with some of her jokes BUT That's Joan that's her style , unapologetic, in your face and a brilliantly executed routine night after night ... I clicked on this because I watched Leno since he started and have never thought he was funny either. It always baffled me that it was him that replaced Johnny.
Leno would not book her because of Carson, therein lies why Joan never liked him.. He was the last late night host I use to watch. All the johnny come lately hacks are horrible.

Conan had a very bad start. He had very bad press that he deserved at the time. I remember now NOT funny he was in the beginning. Go back and watch if you don't believe me. Some of his guests were cringing visibly on camera. He got better and better and now he's one of my very favorites. I love him now.

friend of mine has had numerous interactions with leno in the automotive business. a totally kind and courteous individual according to him.
Yes I think the suits at NBC found Leno appealing. It thought Dave Letterman was the better fit for the Tonight Show.
Jay's better ratings for 20 years show NBC made the right choice
