As a Japanese person, I’m delighted that so many people are taking interest in sashiko! My mother used to do a lot of sashiko work. But I cringed so hard when I heard the Chinese music used in the intro 😖 This is a disservice to the high quality of your video content. A simple cultural check can solve this problem! I don’t want to sound like a complainer, but if you’re going to embrace a traditional folk craft/art form from another culture, I think you should show respect to the said culture by not lumping it together in a stereotypical idea of the Orient. (Japan has a long way to go with this notion too; let’s all aspire to do better together!)

Is the fabric doubled before doing a machine stitch around the outside, so it doesn't fray, or is the fabric a single layer? I'm a bit confused.
She has some good books on it but also there is an Introduction video on RUclips too but same group
the stitching is simply to prevent fraying and is done on a single layer of fabric - I use a short running stitch, works great
