Dear Becky, you don't know me, however, YOU SPECIFICALLY!!! Inspired me about 6 years ago. You made me believe I could do it. And, now, here I am. I have a small bit of land and a darling cottage, with a garden, in the mountains. Thank you. You changed my life. xxoo from NorCal.

At the end of the tomato growing season, leave a few of the tomatoes ( the fruits, not the plants)in the garden over ths winter( or non growing season) and next year "volunteer" plants will pop up and they will be very hardy and already growing for the next season! God Bless!😊❤( no seed starting.....works with squash and cucumbers, too!)

Might try Burpees ..Big Mama…paste tomatoes ..next year.. much bigger paste tomato than San Morano..or Roma’s..I make a lot of sauce with these.. and the bigger tomato means faster kitchen time..more time with horses.. mules ..chickens..etc

My sister who owned a nursery told me sometimes you need to pluck off some of the zillions of baby citrus because it will be too taxing for the tree. We talked about it because I have a miniature mandarin tree that my daughter-in-law kindly bought me 🥰when she found out at some point I wanted to get one after I saved up for it. 🌷👍

    • @HappyComfort
      @HappyComfort 2 месяца назад

When ever l left all of the blossoms/tiny baby citrus, then the tree would just drop them all .

Did you know, that Roma, san marcuz and german variety tomatoes blended together for spaghetti sauce is the BEST sauce...it even outdoes Prego and Ragu! The flavors blended with onion, bell pepper, carrots, basil, thyme, rosemary, and oregano are so delicious, you will not want the store brands afterwards. Guess who inspired me on this? BECKY!

    02-BLACK PRINCE

    02-MOSKVITCH
    02-SF FOG
    04-SUN GOLD
    01-MTN PRIDE
    01-MTN FRESH PLUS
    01-4th of JULY
The seeds have all sprouted in my garage greenhouse & I intend to transfer each into its own growbag on or about 01 May.
It has been my experience that 10-12 tomato plants per person is just about right.

Your Homestead is amazing, my gosh, how many acres if you don’t mind because here I live in London, where 1 acre is roughly 40 something thousand pound I know a farmer who bought 1 acre in Bedfordshire it cost him £30,000

7 acres. If I didn’t keep horses, livestock, I wouldn’t need that much. Although the privacy is nice☀️❤️☀️

I lived in Florida, it used to heavy rain and we had daily storms.
How do you manage your soil to not become a swamp and boggy garden? Also, aren't there bears or alligators? That is my biggest fear that stops me from moving there even though I love gardening and good weather.

    • @BeckysHomestead
