My favorite part about the M249 is that it can take STANAGs. I remember one huge Airsoft game I participated in where our gunner ran of ammunition. Thankfully, I had a bag full of these magazines as an ammo carrier, and proceeded to hand them out to the squad, including our gunner. 😅 (The reason this was so important was because the rules prohibited full-auto fire on any weapons that are not an LMG, for gun balance purposes)
They are called “mock bullets” and they are in place because an m249 or any belt-fed lmg for that matter don’t look right if there are no bullets in the belt feeding system, if you look at the back of the “bullets” there is no labeling for which caliber it is and the primers are slightly unrealistic. It’s so you know the gun isn’t real.
I also want you to know that it is an AIRSOFT replica the rounds on the side are FAKE!

I used a airsoft M249 once that was loaned to me made me feel powerful even though it just shoots plastic lol

My favorite part about the M249 is that it can take STANAGs. I remember one huge Airsoft game I participated in where our gunner ran of ammunition. Thankfully, I had a bag full of these magazines as an ammo carrier, and proceeded to hand them out to the squad, including our gunner. 😅
(The reason this was so important was because the rules prohibited full-auto fire on any weapons that are not an LMG, for gun balance purposes)

They are called “mock bullets” and they are in place because an m249 or any belt-fed lmg for that matter don’t look right if there are no bullets in the belt feeding system, if you look at the back of the “bullets” there is no labeling for which caliber it is and the primers are slightly unrealistic. It’s so you know the gun isn’t real.
