This is my all time favorite Western. Val Kilmer should have won an Academy award. Kurt Russell waa AMAZING too. This is probably the most quoted Western out there.❤ I'm your Huckleberry. Loved his role of Doc Holiday ❤

Becoming Doc Holliday Fact: Val Kilmer practiced for a long time on his quick-draw speed and gave his character a Southern Aristocrat accent. The southern accent is an authentic touch, as Holliday was a cousin (several generations removed) of Gone With The Wind (1936) author Margaret Mitchell. Western Connection Fact: The excerpt from William Shakespeare's Henry V (1599) that is recited by Mr. Fabian (Billy Zane) is the same passage that Dutton Peabody (Edmond O'Brien) speaks to himself while walking down the street in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), which I highly recommend. Historical Fact: The line quoted by Doc (Val Kilmer) at the end of the fight at the OK Corral is historically true and was reported in the Tombstone papers reporting the fight. Became a daily watch between my brother and I when we lived in Miami. 1994 the local "video store" had Tombstone and Wyatt Earp side by side. I chose them both and watched 10 mins of Wyatt Earp then put back Tombstone. The owner asked what my opions were after i kept rerenting Tombstone. I told him the truth, Wyatt Earp is more historical but Tombstone was griitty, passionate, stylish and action packed with an amazing script preformed by Legends When Curly Bill was in the town street hes high on opium and drunk. Opiums dens were available back then. Thats why Wyatts wife was drinking Laudum, its an opium based liquid so shes losing her mind

I love this movie. One of the few I’ve bought. I got to visit Tombstone, Arizona last March. It’s so cool. The people who work there are proud of the history. We saw The Oriental, Hop Town, many others. Then visited nearby Boot Hill. Highly recommend. Maybe an hour or less outside of Tucson. I bought a couple of souvenirs, including a license plate, I’m your huckleberry. Some big stars, who’d also acted in westerns, participated. Robert Mitchum narrated. Charlton Heston (Moses in “The Ten Commandments) owned the ranch where Doc rested. Sheriff Fred White was played by Harry Carey, Jr. The son of Pedro Armendariz played the priest shot by Johnny Ringo. Pedro Armendariz, Harry Carey, Jr. and John Wayne starred in the western “Three Godfathers”. The guy Wyatt Earp is slapping in the Oriental is Billy Bob Thornton (“Sling Blade”). Glad you did a reaction video. I watch your show and your wife’s show. I enjoy both.
The "Three Godfathers" was a remake of the 1929 movie "Hells Heroes", one of the first talkies. Parts of the original was filmed at the ghost town of Bodie, CA when it was still a working town. This makes it one of the few videos of a working western mining town. The movie can be found of the internet and is free to download.
the initial scene with the cowboys, they were specifically called the Cochise Cowboys because they worked out Cochise County, in Arizona. they crashed the wedding of a mexican law enforcement officer, who was responsible for routing one of their cattle/horse rustling operations. they would go down into mexico and steal horses and cattle from ranchers near the border, and smuggle them back across the border to sell to the frontier farmers. One particular time ended with two cowboys getting shot and killed. This was a retaliation for their deaths by gunning down off duty officers at the wedding to send a message to the local mexican government. Curly Bill walks up with two red sashes and states "You killed two cowboys."
Tombstone is an awesome movie, one if my favorites. It has a great cast, tells the story fairly accurate and overall a great western movie. I also loved the Kevin Costner version WYATT. If you like this one you will love WYATT.
You should really watch the movie "The Physician" its an INCREDIBLE movie. It takes place in the year 1000, and is about a boy in England learning that he could disguise himself as a Jew to study at the famous medical school in Persia. Several of the events in the movie actually happened, and its an amazing snapshot at a really interesting time in history.
Can't wait for your sake. Its a blast. And remember, this was based on actual events. These were real people. Google the Gunfight at the OK Corral. In the opening scene, he said they killed 2 cowboys. They killed everyone for revenge. Those cowboys were the origibal gangsters, complete with colors. They all had red sashes. Back then people worked in the sun all day. They rode miles with nothing but a hat for shade. Suits weren't that hot to them. Wyatt Earp was one-of-a-kind. In all the shooting, he was never even grazed. Those pistols were single action and thus less likely to go off when twirling because each shot required an individual cocking of the hammer. Doc Holliday was dying of Tuberculosis. He wasnt worried. Wyatt had already been through a career of peackeeping, as it were, and wanted to move on with his life. Doc tricked Wyatt to get the badge knowing thats the only way he could get Ringo to fight him, because even Ringo knew he couldnt beat Doc. Yeah, she left town. He found her.
ALL TRUE MOVIE. I have seen it about 5-times. Love it. Wyatt was a real US Marshall and Doc Holliday was originally a real dentist.! Both known for the big Gun fight at the OK corral in tombstone, Arizona and the date was October 26, 1881. A very good man! Great Video! Thank You!!!

Back in those days a lot of illegal drugs were used more openly, like opium dens was like crack, meth and trap house now. Now there were frown upon but there was very little laws on it. Opium and many narcotics now were used back in those days as medicine. Basically the same as prescription medication abuse going on nowadays.

Probably about the most period authentic looking/sounding Western Hollywood has ever produced. (Shame ya didn’t watch the director’s cut.) As a former Old West reenactor, I actually know a few folks who were in this flick! One had a supporting role & was part of the Wyatt Earp vendetta ride, the other… A good pard from the days when I used to be a volunteer gunfighter at Calico Ghost Town, in Barstowx CA. (He is the bespectacled man, holding the jar of colored liquid in front of the spotlight, in the Birdcage Theater scene! A fantastically authentic period artist, & a good pard. R. I. P Art Crofutt😔) As far as I understand, Wyatt’s relationship with Mattie was common law. Curly Bill wasn’t drunk in the nighttime scene when shooting up the town . He had been puffing away in an opium den, & was higher than the moon he was firing at!
"Doc" wasn't concerned about what the Doctor was telling him because he was ALREADY terminally ill with Tuberculosis... So he wanted to live out his remaining days as he saw fit; Which was to help Wyatt, because it gave the remainder of his life PURPOSE & because Wyatt was his Best and Only real friend that he had. 😢
He wasn’t DRUNK! They had Opium dens back then in town. He was smoking opium. You can read about all of these historic figures and the O.K. Corral. Lots of people were also hooked on Morphine. Miners were in a lot of pain and that’s what doctors handed out for everything. Including to women for headaches.

Mattie Blaylock was an opium addict and supposedly, an ex-prostitute. Her and Wyatt were never legally married, so leaving her prolly wasn't too difficult back then. Doc Holliday had tuberculosis, which is the reason he looks so sickly. The movie is more or less based on true events. The gunfight at the OK Corral was one of the most famous gunfights of the old west and is embedded in American history. Every one of the people portrayed in this movie existed. This is definitely one of my favorite movies.
That’s the Wild West for ya. Love this movie. Horseback riding is awesome, but don’t go to a dude ranch. Do research for a place that will help you learn. If your horse starts trotting and you don’t move with him, he’ll buck you off. Also, you can’t behave nervously because if you, a predator, are nervous, the horse will think something is seriously wrong, spook and take off…. Horses are amazing, but in some ways they can be kinda dangerous. I rode nearly all my life. I love it.
Twirling a Colt .45 "Peacemaker" is not dangerous beyond dropping it on your foot. The trigger is "dead" until the hammer is cocked. It is single-action and does not reset like a double-action revolver.
the lady ( Wyatts girlfriend ) took laudanum which was processed Poppy seed, in a drinkable form. Many people at that time took it to calm nerves or as a sleep enducer . it is an Opiate ( AKA heroin ). The cowboy who left the Opium den was using the same poppy seeds but in a smoked form thats why the pipes. and he was in his heroin or opiod trip. Both were very addictive. but the laudanum was distributed thru drugstores. every town did not have a Opium den but they did have drugstores.
The gunfight at the OK Corral in this film is choreographed from the Coroner's inquest record in the Cochise County archives, right down to where the combatants were standing and who shot who, and in what order. There were so many witnesses. Hollywood only took liberty with Doc's 5-shot, two barreled shotgun and his two 60-shooters. Johnny Ringo had a rep as a very fast gunslinger. But in that scene when he met Doc Holiday he made a fatal mistake. Drawing on Doc then twirling the pistol like that showed Doc just how fast Johnny Ringo was. Once Doc saw that he knew he was better than Ringo. But to defuse the situation and make a fool of Ringo, Doc twirled his drinking cup. Also that allow him to not giveaway just how fast he was to Ringo.
The old west was wild & lawless. Oddly, many who started as outlaws would later become lawmen. The justice was often quick and brutal. The introduction of opiats came with the Chinese immigrants. I've often wondered how women wore wool skirts and under skirts in that heat.
In the beginning of the movie, The Cowboys deleted that bridal party because they had down in a couple of their fellow Cowboys. That is why Curly Bill threw down those two sashes. That was clearly stated but you may have talked over the dialogue.
Wyatts wife was addicted to opium. The bottle she is using drinking is Laudanum, which is a medicine that has a huge amount of opium in it. Curly Bill was stoned because he just came out of an opium den where they smoke opium. Also, that scene where the guy puts the gun barrel in his mouth was in another opium den and he thought he was smoking an opium pipe.
When they were shooting up the wedding at the beginning you said I wonder what they did to deserve that? Didn't you hear Curly Bill tell them you killed two Cowboys before they started shooting?
If you think about it. Doc holiday is the nastiest kind of dude you could ever scrap with. Bro is already a dead man walking so he isn't phased by threats to him. He is always ready to jump into the smoke and you don't even have to ask he's always on go. He's the kind of dude that has moved passed the fear of death and isn't in it for any other reason then just having a good time.

Costner's movie is horrible and too long.
Costner tried his hand later at the genre and scored BIG with open range - a fantastic film! But I found Wyatt a snooze fest.

Just a suggestion.. but cutting to you commenting every second throughout the film is very distracting and it makes it impossible to enjoy the film
Just in case, it was missed: the Wyatt, Doc, Josie, Johnny Ringo, etc al were real people.
When Ringo was twerling the gun it cant go off. Its a single -action platform. The hammer has to be pulled first then the trigger

Mattie Blaylock was an opium addict and supposedly, an ex-prostitute. Her and Wyatt were never legally married, so leaving her prolly wasn't too difficult back then. Doc Holliday had tuberculosis, which is the reason he looks so sickly. The movie is more or less based on true events. The gunfight at the OK Corral was one of the most famous gunfights of the old west and is embedded in American history. Every one of the people portrayed in this movie existed. This is definitely one of my favorite movies.
This is almost a remake of "Hour of the Gun." 1967. I'm sure the Tombstone producers pulled the Hour of the Gun script out a few times.

That’s the Wild West for ya. Love this movie. Horseback riding is awesome, but don’t go to a dude ranch. Do research for a place that will help you learn. If your horse starts trotting and you don’t move with him, he’ll buck you off. Also, you can’t behave nervously because if you, a predator, are nervous, the horse will think something is seriously wrong, spook and take off…. Horses are amazing, but in some ways they can be kinda dangerous. I rode nearly all my life. I love it.
Twirling a Colt .45 "Peacemaker" is not dangerous beyond dropping it on your foot. The trigger is "dead" until the hammer is cocked. It is single-action and does not reset like a double-action revolver.
You can still go to Tombstone, it's more or less the same. Even Boothill Cemetary with the grave markers, Less Moore included! LOL
the lady ( Wyatts girlfriend ) took laudanum which was processed Poppy seed, in a drinkable form. Many people at that time took it to calm nerves or as a sleep enducer . it is an Opiate ( AKA heroin ). The cowboy who left the Opium den was using the same poppy seeds but in a smoked form thats why the pipes. and he was in his heroin or opiod trip. Both were very addictive. but the laudanum was distributed thru drugstores. every town did not have a Opium den but they did have drugstores.

The gunfight at the OK Corral in this film is choreographed from the Coroner's inquest record in the Cochise County archives, right down to where the combatants were standing and who shot who, and in what order. There were so many witnesses. Hollywood only took liberty with Doc's 5-shot, two barreled shotgun and his two 60-shooters.
John Wayne met, and studied, Wyatt on movie sets in Hollywood before Wyatt died. here is a very short video about the affect this had on Wayne.

Johnny Ringo had a rep as a very fast gunslinger. But in that scene when he met Doc Holiday he made a fatal mistake.
Drawing on Doc then twirling the pistol like that showed Doc just how fast Johnny Ringo was. Once Doc saw that he knew he was better than Ringo. But to defuse the situation and make a fool of Ringo, Doc twirled his drinking cup. Also that allow him to not giveaway just how fast he was to Ringo.
Full metal jacket is a two-part movie... first half is epic second half is not.. it's like dust till dawn.... first half epic second half not so much
The old west was wild & lawless. Oddly, many who started as outlaws would later become lawmen. The justice was often quick and brutal. The introduction of opiats came with the Chinese immigrants. I've often wondered how women wore wool skirts and under skirts in that heat.
I love how Val Kilmer improvised the whistling and the raising of his eye brow before the gun fight at the OK Corall.

In the beginning of the movie, The Cowboys deleted that bridal party because they had down in a couple of their fellow Cowboys. That is why Curly Bill threw down those two sashes. That was clearly stated but you may have talked over the dialogue.
THEN you cut the best line in the movie, as well as ALL the other dialogue between Doc and Johnny. You have now earned a 👎.

Wyatts wife was addicted to opium. The bottle she is using drinking is Laudanum, which is a medicine that has a huge amount of opium in it. Curly Bill was stoned because he just came out of an opium den where they smoke opium. Also, that scene where the guy puts the gun barrel in his mouth was in another opium den and he thought he was smoking an opium pipe.
When they were shooting up the wedding at the beginning you said I wonder what they did to deserve that? Didn't you hear Curly Bill tell them you killed two Cowboys before they started shooting?
If you think about it. Doc holiday is the nastiest kind of dude you could ever scrap with. Bro is already a dead man walking so he isn't phased by threats to him. He is always ready to jump into the smoke and you don't even have to ask he's always on go. He's the kind of dude that has moved passed the fear of death and isn't in it for any other reason then just having a good time.
When you asked "what the world is wrong with him?" When Curly Bill was shooting up the streets before he shot the sheriff, he was high on opium.
