We appreciate all the comments and concerns about Henry's condition. While we know everyone has Henry's best interest at heart, please know that we have now been in touch with our Vet on no less than 10 occasions. We are trying EVERYTHING the vet thinks might help. We are blessed to have 2 very good vets trying to help Henry. We wish there was a quick fix for him or something that was guaranteed to help but that isn't how real farm life works. We, along with our vets, are trying very hard to save Henry. While we appreciate additional suggestions about his health, please just keep in mind how hard we are trying to help him and that there is always a difference between what is seen on a video and what is seen in real life. We have to trust the veterinary medical professionals that are trying to help Henry. God Bless! Kevin & Sarah
God has His hand on this; EVERYONE is praying!! One thing that goes without saying...but I will say it anyway...WE KNOW how hard you and your medical team are working to save little Henry! We love you guys and our continued prayers for healing and strength are on the way!! God bless ya'll.
I've seen this type of illness in calves before and like your vet(s) have said it really is just a guessing game as to what it could be. My gut is leaning towards twisted gut. This is a condition that like anything else you have discussed will either work itself out or it won't. I hope y'all will not have to go down the road of putting him down, but if you do have to make that decision I pray that God will bless you both and your nearest and dearest with peace of mind that you did try everything you could. I will also pray that whatever it is that it works itself out. God bless and stay strong.
After 30 years of raising cattle one thing I've learned is a tube of good probiotics is a must for a sick calf. Sometimes there ruminate is very tricky to get started. The mineral oil is a good thing plus I have used some baking soda also. A twisted gut is a possibility although it's more common in horses. I've been there so be prepared to do what you have to it's never pleasant.
Yes, especially after a course of antibiotics! Antibiotics kill the good stomach bacteria (most likely the reason for the diarrhea) & the probiotics will replace them - which is needed for things to get back to normal!! Praying for you all to get back to & stay healthy! God bless!
Yes! I add Diamond v yeast, and have sodium bicarbonate available at all times. Banamine is tough for long term use, too. I’ve rescued many goats by snatching some cud from a healthy goat...I’ve never done that with my cows. I sure hope Henry recovers❤️🙏🏻
Very intelligent and compassionate livestock management. Well done, well thought out and well executed! (Looking at those 23 thumbs down up there, I assure you they came from people living in highrises in La La Land who have no clue.) :)
Hugs to you guys. Henry is blessed to have such dedicated caretakers and skilled vets. Whatever happens in the end, you gave him the very best chance possible.
Poor little Henry. It sounds like he's really been battling. Hope the vet either heals him or he passes painlessly. I hate to see any animal in pain and sick.
Need to try to get the cat to curl up and lay down with the calf preferably right on his side or belly and purr. Purring frequency and vibration supposedly accelerates healing and mending of broken bones and such or so I've heard. If true may help, certainly shouldn't hurt to try.
I was wondering if it turns out to be viral if it is contagious at all I sure hope he gets better we've been checking everyday and that kitty she's a real Beauty and seems to love the spotlight sending all the Good Vibrations I can from Seattle to Henry hopefully he'll get better in a few days take care
Oh my, so sorry for Henry and you guys. Prayers for this poor fella and his Mom and Dad! I cry with each episode of our Henry...it doesn't matter why...I love Henry and you guys...you're great parents...God gave Henry to the right family. Thank you for sharing everything you share! Wish I lived closer, we could surround Henry, lay hands gently on him, & give him to God for healing. I'm praying for ALL OF YOU! Please give Henry a hug for me & tell him he is a Sweet Boy. God be with you all on the farm. Bonnie
The not knowing is the worst! I'm sure you both are having some sleepless nights. Will keep you all in our prayers. Nice job on extending the barn area.
You two are so good with the animals. I think it is so sweet the love you are showing Henry. No matter the outcome, you'll know you did your best, praying for Henry!!
Since you found him at the bottom of a hill, I wonder if he slipped and rolled down and got a twisted stomach. Seems like the logical thing to me. I'm praying for your sweet Henry. I love how you two love and care for your animals. You are my favorite homesteaders to watch! God Bless! Jennifer
Poor little dude. He is such a good looking little guy. Its always so hard to have a sick calf especially since you don't know what happened. I will be praying for his recovery.

I will be praying for Henry. Seems he is one sick baby cow! Poor thing. Thank you keeping us updated. I know I have become invested in your family and animals through your videos.
My heart breaks for baby Henry. He has a strong constitution, a desire to live and that goes a long way towards recovery. He is blessed to have you as caretakers. Know he is loved by many.
Still praying for little Henry. God sees his plight and hears our prayers. I pray God breaths healing into his little body and we see a marked good difference. Blessings to you all. We know you care so much for your animals. Take care.
Praying for all of you (2 and 4 legged)! Yep. Youve got cat! Love the snooping, gotta get a scratch, ornery little furballs! It was hectic, but i loved trying to get stuff done and beat the rain! Bringing in hay was my favorite! The moments standing in the barn, watching it pour down. You were just smiling because right behind you was all the hay stacked in the barn! Loved that smell of fresh cut hay too! God bless!
I feel bad for Henry -- he is so sick but he is a fighter. Whatever is going on with him is unfortunate and we may never know the cause. I hope he recovers soon.
Thank you so much for sharing all this information with us. Having real examples of things not being perfect are so important for people who want to become homesteaders. I love all your content and am so grateful for everything you share with us all. Thank you.
As someone who knows nothing about cows, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing all of this. It is SO educational! I've often thought about getting a cow. Everything that I can learn is so important to me. It is hard to "learn" everything. I believe, from reading the comments, that it is a learning curve. ALL of these people have great ideas, and you have very good Veterinarians. Henry has the best shot he would EVER get! You are such good, loving people! I really mean that. Sometimes it is what it is. And it may be that Henry won't make it. If he doesn't, you KNOW that you have done all that you could. GOD bless
Goodness, so many specialists. We've all seen the tender-loving care you've provided, Kevin and Sarah. You can't do more than your best, and you're doing that.
I am sending my prayers for your family and Henry. Its obvious that you care deeply for him and I believe he will pull through!! And shame on the people that dislike your story of Henry that you have shared. I admire you both!!!!!
It's always sad when an animal doesn't feel well. I'm so glad you guys have great vets to hopefully fix Henry. I know you have done everything you can to help him, probably more than most since you have all of us watching. Best wishes
Bless Henries little heart. Continued prayers for this sweet boy. Patches is such a pretty Cat. Praying for a positive results and healing for Henry and Y'all. God bless and keep the faith Kevin and Sarah!
I'm sure you and your vets do everything possible for Henry. He's in good hands with you. Wishing for a positive outcome. Here goes my Christmas wish to Santa 😉
M&N McCallum Kevin and Sarah take very good care of all their animals, they're trying more for his health than many "farmers" would or do. Please don't judge. Maybe you or I would put the calf "out of his misery" but that might have more to do with the fact that maybe we don't want to take the time, energy, and expense of caring for a sick calf, they however have been stopping at nothing to try to make Henry well.
Praying for God's healing for Henry. Praying for your family in this stressful time also. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your family & Homestead Traditions. God Bless You.
You guys are going above and beyond what most people would do. No matter what happens Henry was loved, and he was treated well. We are still praying, and hopefully if it's God's will, he will get better. If y'all need anything at all please let me know, Jimmy
My best wishes and prayers to Henry for a speedy recovery and for you both to make the right decision at the right time for him. You have been awesome parents to him.
