Just to clarify: Trapt did not simply post Rob's video on their Facebook page the way a fan might share a video. Trapt *downloaded Rob's video using some kind of RUclips downloader software, re-uploaded the video on their own Facebook account, and posted THEIR OWN VERSION of Rob's video*. THAT'S why it's theft.
It would be like me burning a bunch of Trapt CDs and selling them. But it's okay, because I'm giving Trapt exposure and new fans by making money off their music!

A little bit of me dies inside every time I see this happen on Facebook and annoyingly, it seems to be happening increasingly often. People ripping other creators content clearly have no understanding (or no regard) of online video, copyright or how they're impacting the original creator. Great video Glenn!

Worse thing is they can't even blame this crap on laziness. It's so much easier to just link any video instead of ripping one from RUclips and re-uploading it to Facebook. It'll usually even allow the video to be played on the other site, just using the RUclips plugin instead of the crappy Facebook player.

The worst part is that it's so easy just to link the actual video. A lot of grief could have been avoided by simply embedding the video. That's what makes it so ridiculous, the ease in which it could have been avoided.

so some sites on Facebook often post memes/vidoes of others with titles/commentaries added. some people are saying that using contents of others like that isn't really fair use (apparently famous RUclipsr like H3h3 production is pretty mad). In addition, people are also freaking out about this whole Fine Bros fiasco, which is also argument about copyright/patent. Some reaction channels just show the whole video while that host is "reacting" (rather than showing snippets of the original content) and this Fine Bros incidents kinda revived lots of argument about these things
+SpectreSoundStudios SoFlo is the king of the "freebooting" fad. Real piracy is back and kickin' and major sites like RUclips and Facebook are doing nothing to stop it.

Я уже подписан на большинство каналов, которые разные энтузиасты переводят и смотрю их в оригинале. И так как они часто переводят разные источники список каналов постоянно увеличивается)
Плюсую. Хотя я бы посоветовал всем, кто смотрит с русским переводом/субтитрами - учите английский блеать, он простой и сейчас 2015 год, не знать английский это просто стыдно.
Тоже смотрю в оригинале ,благо уровень языка позволяет,....беда в том ,что наши почти не знают английского или ленятся учить английский язык ,этим и пользуется большинство переводчиков . в принципе после пары видосов можно было бы связаться с автором и сказать : ЭЙ Глен ,есть возможность расширить аудиторию , я буду переводить за небольшую плату ." Вот и все .Сказывается нехватка опыта

In defence of people who did the sub-translation video on russian: after watching that video, I resorted to Google for help and found this channel, looked up other videos and immediately subscribed. As I'm realized, that the content is interesting for me, and the way author feeding material - not unmatched.)

So I used to be one of those idiot musicians who thought "quit bitching about downloads, just be happy people are digging your stuff, ITS ABOUT THE MUSIC MAN NOT THE MONEY."
But god damn if I didn't grow the fuck up and realize this is an occupation for some people and not just a fun jam session with friends, and the revenue generated by their videos and audio releases is how they support themselves, and that I'd had a really ignorant perspective on the whole thing. Theft is theft, and its bullshit.

About those russian guys who reupload your stuff with russian subs - they are actually make your content available to those of us who can't into english. I was watching your vids for a long time and I have no problem understanding you, but I was never able to properly introduce your awesomness to my friends for obvious reasons. With those guys I can! Too bad they didn't ask you for permisson though.
I think that if they sent Glenn the transcripts, he would attach them to his videos so everyone can watch and he can get paid while he's at it. Win win. That's his point.

These are real people whose hard work isn't getting the full amount of attention it deserves until they get screwed over. Cheers to Rob, Ryan, Glenn, and Jared for bringing this issue to everyone's attention and (hopefully) getting the metal community on board!
I wanted to point out that for a lot of bands' facebook, twitter, and instagram pages, the band members aren't the ones who are managing the social networks. So, you can't really blame them. Although if it actually was the band's decision to re-upload the video, then they're a bunch of douchebags. Also though, Trapt is a pretty non-known band. So they probably do manage the networks themselves. And their comment on this video led me even further to believe it was them. The yaren't really helping their case.
Five months and counting, and this video's still up. Suck it, Trapt.

Now that last statement was great. I laughed so hard when you said this. Yes, I agree with the message that you are putting across. When I do a song it is either original, or I obtain permission to do it. I send the artist and label an e-mail asking them if it's alright to post a video of this or that song. It is usually OK, but, I let them know if there is a problem I will immediately pull it. So far no complaints. I accidentally made a flub up in one video and posted a Supertramp song on a tribute video to a friend that had died, because this was his favorite band. It was the whole song mind you, and that got me a big old fat RUclips Strike. The agreed to take it off in October, but this was a lesson well learned. I have never taken another persons RUclips Video and reposted it though, and I never will. But thanks for telling this story I laughed so hard at your last statement I just about fell out of my chair, thanks....
I don't steal and re-upload, i simply share the youtube video on facebook. that way the original content creator gets the views (which is how they get paid) and if people like the video, they can subscribe. that way, i can share a video with my friends and no one gets screwed out of views

It's funny, since I subscribed, I wanted to translate some Glenn's videos to Russian, cause they're so useful. Then I watched this one and changed my mind, bc Glenn doesn't like it just for free and I'm currently not into official translating. Finally, I found there are already several translated episodes (of different quality), of which SMG probably has no clue. XXI century runs everything so fast! Anyway, great support to Glenn! Thanx a lot for all you do!
P.S. The band I recorded lately had an adequate bassist (believe it or not), but a drummer who tried to produce vox (that was so funny, but time consuming)! Watch live band recording on my channel (ENG subs).

I've noticed on soundcloud that whenever I post something for download, within a few minutes before I even get to link the track to anywhere significant, there are already a handful of downloads. I suspect this may be a similar situation, possible reuploads. Also, might I suggest adding a link to the "Spectre Media Group" facebook page, on your main youtube page (top right of videos section, next to the spectre website link) and maybe in the video's descriptions. I wanted to follow the page, but had to go back to the original video you mentioned in order to find it.

I don't know who's in charge of Trapt's social media and whatnot, but I foresee a "Help Wanted" sign in their future.
I see this every day in the most simple of things. People will try to f*ck those around to gain something in every way possible, not realizing they are eventually hurting themselves as well in the process (be it bands fighting for gigs being "cheaper" than other, this kind of thing, etc). Sooner or later it implodes and hits you back.
Help each other and be humble people, it is the only way forward. Especially in a contacts driven industry as music is.

I have an AppleTV and it's my most common way of watching RUclips (Who doesn't love to watch videos on a big ass TV instead of a monitor?"). Does that affect your views/ ad revenue (as it doesn't play ads)? Always been curious, but never had it answered by the creators I've asked.
Most of the time, for the smaller channels, I come and watch on the PC again just for the extra revenue kick, but if I still generate revenue via AppleTV, I'd feel less scummy knowing that. If not, then I'll just rewatch.

Steve H I think befru meant connecting your PC to your TV. befru a reason to not do that would be the noise that can be introduced in the connection. HDMI can get a bit noisy at times on a large screen.

Random question that doesn't relate to the video; do you have any uses for any of the stereo mics, like the Avantone CK40 or the Manley Refrence Stereo, or would it be more effective to just use two mics? And when using two separate mics for stereo, is it worth the money to buy a "matched pair", or to just buy two mics that are of the same model?
Actually, I stumbled (on) that channel through that "subtitle" version. And I'm not sure, google would kindly offer to watch otherwise... maybe? I dunno, google targeting is weird. So yeah, I guess, sometimes those things are not that bad.
But yeah, I agree that just sending you subtitles is better.
