    I'm from South Carolina, and a Panthers fan. This is a embarrassment to our state. They made us look broke.

    Personally I wouldn’t feel too bad for anyone in this situation. Rock Hill is a suburb of Charlotte. It’s not like they don’t have anything

    Well done. Politicians tried to do something like this to Bruton Smith in Concord, NC, but it backfired on them too.

      Thanks. Burton Smith in Concord, NC? Interesting, i'll have to look that up.

      The community around Charlotte Motor Speedway collected enough signatures to stop the construction of the Z-Max drag strip according to county and state law. Bruton Smith being who he is didn’t take to kindly to that and this is exactly what happened. He and his army of lawyers(no exaggeration there were like 20 people in total) walked into the Cabarrus County courthouse where Mr. Smith told the judge that if he couldn’t build the drag strip then he would close down the track and threatened to never have another NASCAR race in North Carolina period. Then, just to prove who had all the power, he told them that the County was now going to pay the entire $98 million to build the drag strip and that Concord Mills Boulevard would be named for him. Needless to say, that’s exactly what happened. The I-85 project got pushed back 10 years which is where the $98 million came from and Concord Mills Boulevard is jointly named Bruton Smith Boulevard.
      Politicians weren’t trying to get over on Bruton Smith. The community used legal precedent and law to stop him from building a drag strip they didn’t want and he in turn used his power to get exactly what he wanted and screwed the community over in the process.

    Just because he filed bankruptcy doesn’t mean they are going to not find a way to keep it moving in the future. They are still going to build it in rock hill, but clearly tepper wanted to immediately stop the project if he was the only one shelling money for the project. I’d give it a year or two and they’ll buy the area up as another random LLC and finish what they started. Tepper has invested far too much to give up on this idea. So they will not be relocating training facilities, but it could take another 2-5 years before completion.

      I worked that project from day 1 to complete lock out of site. They did not put any preventative measures for weather, wildlife or thieves in place. He also asked for prices of demolition.

    • @FTCFootball
      @FTCFootball  2 года назад +1

      That's a good question. If this guy would walk away from 200 million, I really don't think he's too attached to North Carolina. Which sucks, because it's such a great place.

      I hope so YE been fan 20 years almost it would suck for them move. Do u think they can get back competitive again eventually? I’m hoping they can be good again for awhile soon maybe a super bowl contention again one day. I kinda feel like Matt Rhule could be another Pete Carroll what he did with Seattle Seahawks he built them very slowly year by year and eventually they won it all became competitive

  • @rover7139

    That's what happens when you try keeping up with Joneses the owners of the top brand in sports...he may have more money, but that doesn't help you when you're the owner of a team players don't wanna play for and one of the least attractive brands in sports.
