    I just stumbled across your channel AND ... WOW ... am I ever IMPRESSED! I'm literally struggling to find words good enough to do this channel the appropriate amount of justice (without sounding like I'm being paid for my positive feedback, LOL!) The host (unfortunately I haven't learned her name yet) has the absolute best personality for this channel. I own an entire WINE ENCYCLOPEDIA and I learned more about Cava and Chateauneuf-du-Pape (so far) via this channel than I ever did from that huge Wine Encyclopedia!

    Enjoyed this a lot, particularly the detail on regions and classification. Great mix of visuals as usual. Most of all loved your reaction to tasting the Paraje. Can’t make up that “oh my” moment! 🥂

    I’m a big FC Barcelona fan, and doing my trip to Barca. I ran across a white festival, and at the festival, everyone was passing out this wine call Cava which I didn’t know anything about… but what an enjoyable, sparkling wine

    Cava is amazing. I’ve not had El CEPs Paraje but I’ve their Gran Reserva in my cellar, paid under $18 a bottle for a case! Such a great QPR that makes it an everyday drinker fiz! Great video!

    You get really good quality for the price with cava, but also with a lot of the sparkling wines that are produced outside of the cava regions. Sparkling wines produced in Rias Baixas on the albariño grape can be really amazing and at a very affordable price.

    Had some great Cava's outside of Barcelona. I walked many deep cellars and enjoyed the region. They are passionate about Cava North East of the City.

    Cava is my all time favorite and go-to Sparkling Wine! I love ALL of the classifications Cava has to offer. I have Tulip Shaped Glasses for the Reservas, Gran Reservas, & Parajes. I use a flute for the Guardas. I also love the Cava Rosados as well.
    Love the video so much! I also have the Wine Folly: The Master Guide Edition.
    Madeline, your videos have inspired me to become a Sommelier! Especially in Cava and other Sparkling Wines around the world!
    Thank You So Much for your informative videos and literature! Big Hugs & Cheers To You!!!!

    Came here hoping for Cava de Paraje Calificado and was not disappointed! Great insights. Looking forward to seeing more of it becoming available with time (although sometimes it's nice to keep it a secret!) Hoping to track down the Juvé & Camps La Capella next.

    Thanks for this video. Now I have a better understanding of Cava. I’d heard of it before but only just enjoyed my first glass a few months ago. I will definitely watch for it again on a restaurant’s wine list

    My wife and I prefer cava and cremant to champagne... they are, to our taste, equivalent yet far more cost-friendly.
    Recently, we found a vineyard in Traverse City, Michigan that has some very nice daily (not daily) drinking sparkling wines. (Mawby)

    Very interesting video thanks for you generosity. Just a small comment, TIRAGE is when the yeast and sugar is added to the wine so that it goes through the 2nd fermentation in the bottle. If anyone is visiting Catalonia which is where most of the Cava wine is produced, be sure to visit all the beautiful wine regions we have here! Thanks again

      En tirage is on the lees ageing

      @winefolly  6 месяцев назад

      yeah, Christine, our MS busted me also and told me "extended bottle aging" but I think en tirage works as well.

    You essentially implied that the secondary fermentation method of champenoise inherently produces superior products than the ones that utilize charmat...

    • @winefolly
      @winefolly  6 месяцев назад

      If you're looking for toasty/nutty flavors from extended bottle aging and higher bottle pressure resulting in longer bubble finesse, then the sparkling wines made with the traditional method are superior for those specific traits.
      But I don't look for those traits in great Valdobbiadene, I look for a different set of traits.

    Champagne is still the king, but Cava is definitely one of the best lower-priced alternatives, along with sparkling Burgundy and German Sekt.
