JB and LA did have a plan and as Alex Gibney narrated in his film 'The Armstrong Lie', Contador knew what was happening and had to devise his own way to win the tour apart from being able to trust in his director sportif. Frankie Andreau said the same thing about Alberto deciding to ride his own ride and smartly worked with the Schleck brothers to create the distance needed to guarantee his win.
