The donut episode makes me sad. The giant makes the donuts with his hopes and dreams in them. That's what makes them magic and if the wish was small, he gets something in return. But Deckard is depressed so there aren't hopes and dreams in his donut. He's even shown giving up on them as he tries to throw out his culinary school letter. It's just a donut and so the hands pop out to take whatever they can reach to make up the deficit.

Also I like that Deckard not only has two different colored eyes, but he also tends to stutter, mispronounce certain words, and randomly pause between thoughts. I don’t have these traits myself, but I really enjoy representation of certain things like that in media.
